More trivia: Custer also left behind his bandmaster, Felix Vinatieri, whose survival enabled the birth one of the NFL’s best placekickers, Adam Vinatieri.
So, White Bull would be something like Tatonka-shan? I prefer the “a” spellingas the first vowel first in Tatonka, and the “sh” is phonetic-- not sure how it is usually represented.
No, it was more a thinly veiled way for me to say, “Oh, by the way, I’m super smart and know Sitting Bull’s *Lakota *name.”

Here’s my research: *Tatanka *is the preferred spelling per google. Sitting Bull is usually written Tatanka Yotanka, and White Bull’s name in *Lakota *is Pte San Hunka, per hereand several places. It doesn’t literally mean White Bull or Lazy Bull or Cow Bull, but I can’t find what it *does *mean.
