Is there some reason they can’t just reset their password or contact Twitter to get it fixed? Also, I assume the tweet that says they just regained control of their account is one of the fake ones…clever.

That’s pretty fucked up that the messages are still up there. Seriously, can’t someone from Fox News demonstrate some sort of credentials to get the account back?

The tweets have finally been deleted. I wonder if it was FOX, Twitter or the Secret Service that finally took care of it.

Do a hard refresh (F5). The last tweet is about the hack and the previous one is from last week.
Weird. Still showing up for me. Cleared all the caches and browsing history, too. Checked it from a different computer, as well, that hadn’t accessed the Twitter feed previously.
:rolleyes: Yeah, they’re risking their what little credibility they have left just to fool some hillbillies into thinking Obama’s been shot for a couple of hours. Because they’re just that evil. I agree, this is the most likely explanation.
I think very little of Fox News, but I don’t think they’d leave the messages up to troll anybody. They’re not written in a journalistic style (waits for jokes) and they’re not even remotely credible. But I’m still seeing the tweets and I find that very confusing.

Same here, hadn’t visited the feed until after it was announced that they’d been taken down, and a hard refresh still gives me the assassination tweets, plus the latest tweet linking to the article that they’d been hacked.
All this begs the question, just how would one go about regaining control of a hacked Twitter account? I see that the foxnewspolitics feed is a verified account. You’d think it’d be a simple matter of someone at Fox News getting on the horn with Twitter and telling them to, at the very least, take down the account until they got this mess straightened out.
I also recall that when Anonymous hacked HBGary’s Twitter feed a couple of months ago, the hackers’ tweets, including the (alleged) social security number and home phone number of Aaron Barr remained up for days.
ETA: Just checked again, and all the fake twitter posts are gone.
I’m guessing that they deleted them and it’s taking some time for the deletion to propagate to all the servers. That might be why people are sometimes seeing them gone, and other times not.
Yeah, it still hasn’t changed here for me.
