Apparently, insulting AARP doesn’t stop them. After returning their cards direct to the executive director’s office with a letter telling them where to shove the card, they sent me a NEW membership package today.

Bert’s made supper. A guy is coming over in an hour or so to look at the cabinets we have for sale - it’d be nice if he takes them. If not, another guy is supposed to come tomorrow, and a 3rd emailed me. One way or another, I should have them all sold. Yay!
saw my dentist this evening. I’ve got a lot of dental work in my future. blech. He did some today - so now in addition to being grumpy about the new, my face hurts BIG time. No chorus for me tonight
Cabinet lookers just left - they obviously didn’t look at the pictures or they’d never have come here. But no biggie - I’ve got 2 more people interested.
And on that note, I’m going to have a little ice cream then crash for the night.
The yahd is all mowed, edged and otherwise purtified. I was just gonna do the front yahd cause that’s the one that was a shame for the neighbor’s to see. However, motivation took over and the back got mowed too. Now I’m all showered and clean. I’s also tahrd!
I was so busy at work today I only skimmed, but now I’m all caught up.
Swampy, we now have a yahd guy that mows and purtifies our yahd once a week. It is sooo worth it, and it looks mahvelous!
Dad is feeling tons better, and we have a doctor appt tomorrow at 10 am. We’ll get him straightened out with the ear thing.
We’re going out to west Texas for the reunion on Saturday, be back on Monday. We’ve decided the pups will be ok with lots of water and lots of dry kibble. They have a doggie door. They will be lonely, but they’ll be ok.
We went for a longer walk in the woods (we got there much earlier than before, so we could explore). There were lots and lots of fireflies around 9:15. We walked to the end of the trail and found that there’s a little prairie area at one end of the park. (The park is basically the woods and the little prairie area, as far as I can tell.) There were a couple of areas with pretty dense swaths of fireflies. Very Christmas light-y. There were even a few that looked reddish.
Half day at work tomorrow, then we’re going to a friend’s to inspect a house he’s acquired and make decoration and landscaping suggestions. After that, one of my friends and I are going to Dave and Buster’s. I’m not all excited about it, but she really wants to go and doesn’t really have anyone else to go with. It’ll be fun, but I tend to get bored pretty quickly there.
Columbus fireworks are tomorrow night (suburban ones are on the 4th - I’m betting some of them will be on Sunday, too). We’ll probably watch them from near my house since going downtown is a hassle; it gets very crowded.
Brother is watching tennis online. Guess I’ll watch for a bit then off to bed…

I went to bed early and thus am up early on a day off even. ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 97 and, of course, no rain in sight. I went out a little bit ago and I’m glad I mowed yestiddy cause it’s so wet with dew out that I would have had to wait until around tennish to mow. I don’t like to do that when the grass is wet. I will go and mow OYKW’s yahd this mornin’ cause his is small and shady and not as wet. I’m all nice dammit like that.

I have mowed OYKW’s yahd, purtified while I was there, went to Sam’s Club to get gas and some stuff and gone to the sto’. Now I’s home and tahrd! Dindin tonight shall be chicken wings, sweet N.O.T. fries, celery sticks, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes and strawberry shortcake. I have LiLi’s easy cake bakin’ as I post (I made a cake too!). I figure the veggies make wings and fries a healthy meal. I found some good strawberries. I sliced ‘em and sprinkled on a little bit of sugar cause that’s what I like with strawberry shortcake. Also, fresh whippin’ cream! YUM!
We have a burn ban in effect because of the drought and that’s been extended to ban the sale of all fireworks. Gonna be a decidedly different atmosphere (literally) come Monday night. Normally I’m right out there with mortars and rockets but this year I’ve no problem laying low with just a couple of last year’s sparklers in the driveway. That, a prime rib, some fried yardbird, Pandora thru the patio speakers, a couple of pool floats and cold beverages and all will indeed be right with the world.
Back from my get acquainted with the new doctor. Rah. Nice guy, and laid back.
Unlike his nurse who was simultaneously perky, high-strung, and spoke with a screechy voice. She made me stabby.
Time to get groceries, then yahd mowing is forseen somewhere within the next 24 hours. Oh, and in something uniquely relevant to Mumpers, I also need to go shopping for squid. Honestly.
At work they’re taking down a partition wall about eight feet behind me. Loudly.
Getting my hair cut this afternoon and have to finish Debbie’s birthday gift. And get milk, since we ran out yesterday morning and nobody got more (Dad says I should have told him. I think he should have noticed since there was less than a glass left and he used it before I took the last of it. But I forgot to pick up more on the way home anyway.)

Interview went terribly. I got surprised by an application once I got there, even though the man had my resume already :rolleyes:, we talked for less than 10 disinterested minutes, and the position is actually a completely different shift than I was told from the home base in Denver, but I told them if they need me mornings, I’ll switch my other schedule to evenings. swampy, you can probably uncross those appendages, you might need them this weekend
Also, how do you fix someone who is very, perhaps over-eager to work, but just doesn’t learn from her mistakes? We have an employee here who is so enthusiastic, but at the same time, just so awful at her job; at this point we all just pick up the slack and go on with our lives. Bureaucracy.
I started my day by delivering a refrigerator, then killed 4 hours at the office. One coworker asked what sort of sendoff I wanted and I told him cake and punch would be fine - I don’t want a big to-do. So that’s good.
I’m now waiting for the second cabinet-wanting guy to come over and decide if he wants my cabinets. If he says no, I have a number for a 3rd guy who’s interested. Once done with him, I get to do laundry. **FCD **is on his way home, too.
The house is still open, but I expect I’ll have to close up soon and turn on the air. ugh. Hot and muggy weekend promised.
I’m finishing up the last of my caffienation and then I’ll clean up and tackle some weeds out in the backyard.
I was trying to enjoy a little peace and quiet, but the dogs are driving me crazy. OH MY GOD! IT’S A CAT! A CAT! A CAT! IT’S ON OUR FRONT PORCH! CAT! CAT! CAT!
Then Polar is feeling especially cuddly today. Why is it he only wants to cuddle when I’m at my computer?
