FinnAgain, overall I agree with you, but Aeschines is correct. He appears to be clever enough not to get himself banned and he mixes in many decent threads with his trollish threads.

You are, possibly, correct. The mods here often err on the side of caution, and even blatant trolls like drmark hang around for way too long. However, I can’t help but think that sooner or later our OP will cross the line again, and that then he will be put out of our misery.
In pretty much any Pit thread involving me my skeptic enemies (on SDMB–I love you guys IRL) will swoop in, do a round of high fives, and declare victory, etc. I actually got an above average level of defense, support, and cherishment in this one.
What I find pretty disgusting is the idea that saying anything against the board groupthink is now “trolling.” Add in the banning campaigns, and do you really have a very healthy board here? Of course, from the beginning I haven’t had any illusions about this place being a haven for free speech. I’ve always had to tone it down for fear of banning (or now suspension).
Most people with my New Age perspective get sick of the place pretty quick and do a suicide by mod. I’m never going to do that, and I really don’t cause much trouble (real or perceived), plus I’ll simply shut up if ever threatened. That’s why I won’t be banned (or even suspended).
Off and on… the whinging martyr shit gets old real quick. DrMark played a variation on that theme, too. Being a troll is bad enough, but when it’s a real nutbar of a troll who thinks that the enmity he earns is proof that something is wrong with everybody else…

IMV, it’s a rejection of dogmatic religion while taking repsonsibility for one’s own spiritual development. It’s eclectic in that you can practice anything that suits you. There’s no cut-and-dried set of beliefs to follow, but in general we believe in spirit, psi, the afterlife, and reincarnation.
For some reason, the skeptics on the board have a real bug up their ass about us, much more than even in regard to the fundies here. I think it’s because we autonomously choose to believe what we do, rather than being brainwashed from birth. Plus, we will take them on topic by topic, rather than just spouting the party line and saying, “Well, that’s just what I believe.”
And you take into consideration the spirit of the “chicks” that you “bang”? You honor the spirit of the obese person? What may be your kharma in your next life?
