Mom and I are part of the church choir, so yesterday we stayed after church, had a sandwich lunch, and did a special 90-minute after-church choir practice in preparation for the Christmas cantata. We started out separating the men from the women before bringing them together and doing all 4 parts at once.
Choir got out much earlier than expected, which was good because Mom, Alex, Alex-offspring and I had plans. We went into Chesapeake to hear the Tidewater Guitar Quartet play. They were wonderful. I especially liked their selections from “West Side Story”.
Afterwards, we hit up a nice Thai place for dinner. It had been too long since I’d had a good Pad Thai.
It was amazin’ to see how far they went when we shot 'em out of that cannon. Ummm… I mean we sat our drinks on them like good boys and girls the whole time MOOOOOOM.
I’m in the mixed choir for the December [del]heathen[/del] humanist meet up. The theme of one medley is Happy. I’ll solo on the third verse of *Don’t Worry, Be Happy *. It also includes So Happy Together and the Pentatonics’ Happy. TThe other song is Solstice. I’m having to learn both alto and tenor parts, as we always have an imbalance of men and women and I can do either.
I had adopted a cat back in April and he just wouldn’t adjust. I had him for 6 months and he was still hiding. There were days I could pet him, then he’d go back to running and hiding from me. It was always a step forward, then a step back. After he started peeing on my clothes and ripping up the carpet… I just don’t think he was ever going to be happy here.
I took him back to the shelter, it’s a no kill shelter.
Then I got a new cat who is the opposite of the first one. This cat is super friendly, bold, and curious. He came right in and made himself at home. He’s a really nice cat, as Sunny says, he lets me do a lot to him that other cats probably wouldn’t tolerate.
Sunny my niece and her boys are taking over my son’s old bedroom in my mother’s house. They do need the space, but all along my mother has been telling me she is keeping his room as it is and there was no hurry to get the stuff out. Now I feel like it has been sprung on me. The other thing that pissed me off is that I never hear from my niece and then she calls me and jumps right in with no hello, no how are you, just when are you coming to get all this stuff because I need the room and can we just throw everything out?
And they probably will throw a bunch of stuff out and the deny it.
They act like they can just call me up and I’m supposed to stop everything I am doing and drive 2+ hours to get there because*** NOW*** they want the room cleaned out.
F’ them!
My fault I should have gone and gotten it sooner. My mother will tell me it’s okay to take my time, but she is probably bitching to everybody else about it being there.
Sorry, don’t mean to bitch, but I get tired of her back stabbing, sneaky bullshit. It’s why I never want to go there - I really have a hard time dealing with her.
Well, for the 11th consecutive year I bought way to much candy and have to make the decision of (1) throwing it away or (2) eating it myself. I’ll probably keep the KitKat bars and toss the Milky Way bars.
I’ll take the chawklit and stickers to one of my cow-orkers for his 7 year old daughter and 5 year old granddaughter.
Tomorrow, I have an eye appointment with the pro in Nashville, so I can sleep an extra hour. I should be out around lunch, so I’ll go down the street to either my one of my favorite Vietnamese places or the rockin’ cumpling place (the two best Vietnamese restaurants, the rockin’ dumpling place and the big international supermarket are all in the same shopping center )
Good morning - such as it is. I slept like the dead last night, which I needed, and it was a pleasure to shower and not have a shower curtain sticking to whatever body part happened to touch it.
Last night, **FCD **cut the sleeves off an old sweatshirt for Higgs to keep her from scratching herself raw. It looks a bit goofy, but it seems to be helping, so yay. Ziva crawled on top of me in bed last night to get skritches - in fact, both cats were really needy and clingy. Higgs was just glad to be home.
And I have a pile of stuff awaiting my attention, so back to the grind.
