Friday the 13th - Ack! The Sky Is Falling!

Friday the 13th is being mean to me. Please make it stop.

I just broke my engagement ring. Yes, I’ve been wearing it for 13 years, but it just broke! I seem to have worn down the bottom by fidgeting with it over the years. The band snapped apart on the bottom (where it’s now much thinner gold than the sides) and it keeps snagging. DeHusband is getting laid off within the next couple of months and we weren’t planning on and jewelry expenses. But frankly, I’d love to get another setting if there’s any way we can afford it. Probably we’ll just get it repaired. Any one know how much that should cost?

So, how’s Friday the 13th treating you?

Well I woke up to the news that the transit is going to have a strike vote. Which means if I can’t find someone to carpool with I have the option of trying to get a cab in this city to get to work (very hard to do right now) and spend 75% of my paycheck getting to and from work* or stay home and lose my job.

The computer program we use at work is also not printing out anything.

*I work on the other end of the city, it’s my own fault for working so far from where I live but I like it here despite the long transit commute. I also don’t have my license yet, or else I’d just go out and finally get a car (since I can afford one now, and it costs a LOT less than cabbing it), but this is at least getting me off my duff about getting my license.

Funny, but I didn’t even notice it 'til it was mentioned in the MMP. My immediate coworker did roll his car last night on the freeway – but he’s fine, even if his car’s not. That wasn’t quite the 13th though, so it doesn’t count (unless you count his absence at work today, which I’m mostly filling in for in addition to my own. Makes me busy, but not insanely so.)

So, uh … I guess my Friday the 13th is going just fine!

Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a goalie at the service window.

If possible, try going back to the store where you got it. The one where I got my engagement ring has sized it and done some minor repairs for free.

I arrived ten minutes late for the final test in one of my classes, and I’m fairly certain I bombed it.

Otherwise, the day is looking okay.

So far.

Having been born on Friday the 13th (no, not this one), I’m always a fan of the day. My motorcycle ride was quiet, my train was on time this morning, my coworkers have been pleasant so far – I’m expecting great things today!

I love FT13 because of today.

Today after work I will go to the bank and pay my FINAL payment on my F150. I am so excited. I am going to be rich. I will have an extra $330 a month and will no longer be living paycheck to paycheck.

Also on Sunday I am going to Disneyland.

So unless I crash my truck on the way home (please oh Mighty Decider of Fates do not let this happen) today will be a very good day.

Getting a new setting is relatively inexpensive. I just had my engagement ring re-set into a pair of earrings and a pendant for about $130. The gold for a ring would cost a bit more, but should still be inexpensive.

Well, this Friday the 13[sup]th[/sup] is going well. I’ve got my new college transcript and verification letter that will finally (hopefully) get me my Standard Teaching Certificate.

The worst that’s happened to me on a Friday the 13[sup]th[/sup] was on December 13, 1991: my appendix burst. Actually, it’d been working on it all week. (I was drinking Maalox thinking it was just a bad stomach ache.) But finally on 12/13/91, it got so bad that I couldn’t walk out of my apartment building. I called my parents (who were then living in the area), an my dad came and admitted me to the hospital.

It took until the evening of the 14[sup]th[/sup] before the docs correctly diagnosed me and operated. But I count the 13[sup]th[/sup] as the day it happened because of the disabling pain.

My Friday has been a mixed bag.
It’s my last day at my current job, so I’ve gotten chocolates and goodbyes and a free lunch. It’s good but sad too.

I’m working at my other job tonight, so I’m ready for the day to be over!

I cried at work this morning because I’m so exhausted.

That’s kind of set the tone for the whole day. :frowning:

So far so good, but I’m afeered of work in 2 hours.

From this thread I just posted- my son was missing for a short time this morning. It turned out okay, but holy crap it was terrifying while it was going on. We both should have stayed home this morning.

Just now as I was walking back to my office, a black cat (that I have never seen before) ran across the pavement ahead of me.

That’s right: A black cat crossed my path on Friday the 13th!

So if there are no more posts from me after today…

I though Friday the 13th was when sexy teenage coeds ( and their boyfirnds0 get filleted, stabbed, chopped up by maniacs wearing clown masks?

The number “130” has come up in five different contexts today.

I dropped my dog off earlier to get neutered. I would say any future Friday the 13ths have got to be better than this one for him. Ouch.
