'Friends' quote: Ross to Rachel "likely not getting back together, but keeping the chance open"?

Not trying to start a debate of pro’s / con’s for the TV show Friends, I’m more interested if anyone can help me please identify the quote and episode that this came from (I’ve tried Googling it, I’ve tried SDMB-searching it, I’ve tried IMDB-searching it, and there’s a shit-ton of common words that show up in millions of search results) so I feel like I’m driving in a round-about.

Does anyone remember the episode and scenario where perhaps Rachel started dating some guy (I don’t think it was the early Paolo days) and Ross’s quote to her was something like “look, I don’t THINK we’re ever getting back together, but I’d hate to think that we COULDN’T”.

It was almost like Ross was resigned to the fact that maybe he didn’t want to end up in a relationship with someone else (maybe Mona?) because if he did it might spoil any chances of ever-EVER getting back with Rachel?

I wish I could remember the exact phrasing of Ross’s quote, it would make it so much easier to Google.

I appreciate any expert input, thanks!

Ross and Rachel, the dead albatross hung around the neck of Friends.

I watch a lot of Friends, and this does sound familiar. If I come across it again, I’ll let you know.

“The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry” — where the gag is, after spending the episode patiently explaining that nothing could make him cry, he bursts into tears when Ross tells Rachel that “I don’t know if anything is ever going to happen with us, again, ever. But I don’t want to know that it-it never could.”

There ya go. And here’s the episode’s synopsis.

Thank you “Waldo”… that was 1000% the quote/clip I was looking for so I appreciate it a ton.

De nada; and, by the way, it seems to be perfectly clear that you were on a break.
