I wish we had some sort of national intelligence agency with a director or something. Oh, right, just a few weeks ago, the DNI said that Iran wasn’t building nukes. Then, Trump said she’s wrong, and now she’s saying that they could have a nuke within weeks. What a load of bullshit.
Honestly, Iran had more leverage by threatening to build a bomb than actually building it. North Korea has no leverage, since they already have one (other than being protected from invasion). Iran negotiated a deal with the Obama administration because they had leverage by not having a bomb.

The only country that ever used a nuke on another country is the US. Even if Iran had nukes, there’s no reason to believe they would use them – that’s a suicidal action. North Korea is way nuttier than Iran and has had nukes for years and never used them on Korea or Japan or the US. Pakistan and India both have nukes and have been at war for each other for generations and never used them. Israel is surrounded by countries wanting to wipe it off the map and never used its nukes.
The US didn’t have to get into this war, but now we’re not going to be able to get out.

Gotcha, my bad - it was talked about in the other thread by some of the other people making the point you are making now.
Basically, the complaint about the Iran nuclear deal was that it perpetually leaves Iran a few months of effort from making a nuke. The question raised was, how is this acceptable? And the term for the length of time it would take Iran to decide ‘now we are full out making a nuke’ is breakout time. We were supposed to believe that a deal that slightly lengthens breakout time is vastly superior to a war that eliminated the nuclear program.
So it seems very odd that those same people would cry about Netanyahu pointing out that Iran was only a few years or months from a nuke for many years, as if this is dishonesty on his part. Suddenly, they pretend to forget what “breakout time” means - Iran’s breakout time to nukes has been short for many years now, yes. Because of actions taken by Israel and by the US, they were both delayed and made decisions not to make the all out rush for a nuke. But this doesn’t mean that someone pointing out the breakout time at various points in the past is being dishonest. And certain actions taken by Iran, most notably enriching 400kg of uranium to above 60%, demonstrate that they’re taking actions to close that breakout time and develop a nuke that they’ve never taken before.
Maybe that’s not what you were doing; but the other posters glibly posting about “oh, Netanyahu said this before!” when they’ve discussed breakout time in other threads are absolutely dishonest motherfuckers.

Almost every humanitarian agency agrees, as do most reputable scholars and genocide experts, along with all of the evidence on the ground and the genocidal statements from Israeli leadership. Israel are committing genocide in Gaza. They committed warcrimes and atrocities in Lebanon, they are committing warcrimes in Iran, they are breaking international law in the West Bank.

I have a grandson in the Middle East right now. He’s activated Army National Guard and is posted to, I believe, Bahrain. It is expected that Iran will target any U.S. troops in the region, so I’m very worried about him. The idiot in charge has finally gotten a chance to shoot his big popguns and strut around as CinC. The consequences of this action mean nothing to him, since the military is nothing but suckers and losers without any humanity. Fucking hell.
