I’m not even a big baseball fan, but to see the Cubs get ANYWHERE would be fun.
And before I even read this thread, I was thinking of going to my local casino here in Las Vegas and slap $5.00 down for the Cubs to win the World Series. If I do, I will post the odds I am getting.
But I can’t see them sweeping. I expect the Cubbies to take at least one from them, maybe two depending on who’s pitching. 'Course, you’re right–they still had better hope they don’t need three.
An analysis I heard on sports radio yesterday said that if the Cubs finish 6-4 (pretty easy, given their schedule), the Astros would need to go 8-1 to take the wild card from them. Yeah, right.
I agree. The Braves will be trying their hardest to sweep the Cubs. I’m just not sure which Braves will be given the opportunity. Either they use Wright, Hampton and Ortiz to try and keep the Cubs out of the playoffs (zero chance of losing to them again); or save the three for the first few crucial games of the best-of-five first round series.
I think what Mazzone meant wasn’t that they were going to use all of their talent, but try like fuck, with whomever they use, to kill the Cubs.
