Fuck you Blizzard, but thanks for letting us know where we're not wanted.

It’s the right decision, but according to the story Blizzard’s planning on setting up a “guild recruitment only” channel (to go along with “General” “Trade” and so on. Not the best solution - you can still just leave that channel if you want - but at least it’s a bit more inclusive.

You’re not unusual.

One more followup. Here’s the Valentine’s Day event of the game so many were insisting is devoid of romantic or sexual content:

Love is in the air!

Ah, but you know what’s funny about this event? In Ironforge and Stormwind, you will have a much better chance of success with perfume on, than with cologne. In Darnassus, cologne wearers have it easier than perfume wearers. (Since cologne attracts the female gaurds and perfume the male.) Thus, given the city, you will find many male toons donning perfume or females donning cologne. You can get a gift of adoration from either gender.

BTW: Does anyone else get the song that Catherine and Armand sing in her office (from The Birdcage) stuck in their head every time?

I’m hoping this has already been said, but if it has and we’ve gotten to 3 pages, it’s worth repeating.

  1. blizzard does not stop players from starting guilds for Gay/Lesbian/GBLT/ etc. players.

  2. Blizzard does not stop you from advertising your guild, in fact, it provides an area on their fora for guild advertisment.

what it does not want you to do is to advertise it in /s or /1. General.

Blizzard have nothing against Gay guilds, if they did then The Spreading Taint (gay guild on a US server) wouldn’t exist.

Dude, a lot of people took the time to discuss and explore a number of issues and make a number of cites regarding Blizzard’s policies and actions in this case (for which they have now apologized, so they clearly agree that they acted wrongly). I’m sure you’ll find it interesting to read now that you’ve posted to it.

My apologies for not reading the time stamp attached to each post, and my apologies for skipreaing most of the third page, but I hadn’t seen a lot of refutation of the notion that such guilds were banned.

Possibly because no one had made any such claim.

But by all accounts (I’m not a player), pretty much the only step Blizzard takes to reduce anti-gay abuse is … to not let gay people openly group together.

But this is the only thing they’re doing - stopping people forming GLBT-friendly (not GLBT only, friendly) guilds. A guild in which, likely, the only outward sign of their GLBT-friendliness would be a note in their guild name or charter anyway. FFS. This policy seems to me like Blizzard is saying “Ok, we don’t want people to make fun of you, so we’re going to hide you - oh, and don’t talk about your orientation, either.”

post 48 Now, you say that Blizzard, by disallowing the GLBT-friendly guild, is inherently backing the (by default) hetero guilds… well, you’re wrong there.

Posts 88 and 89 referring to Blizzard not allowing gay friendly guilds.

“What’s your point with this? It’s still their policy to not allow a GLBT friendly guild.
However, either way, this has no effect on Blizzard’s policy of no GLBT guilds.”

Naving had more time to reread the thread, yes, alot of these points were refuted, but lets not say they weren’t argued.

I stand corrected.
