Fuck You Jeb Bush

Listen carefully. They know more than you about such things. They know what is right. They will have you follow their ways if you want to or not. You don’t have to get it. They get it and that’s good enough.

I don’t get it either.

What I’ve been wondering is why these people are still spending so much time over Terri’s “Right to life.” Don’t they know that there’s a war on? People are dying every day over there and they aren’t protesting in D.C.

Mandatory disclaimer: I am not taking a swing at the Bush administration or trying to hijack this thread into a discussion of the Iraq war. I’m just saying that these people are very selective about who has the “right to life.”

I’m more agnostic than Christian, but the argument you’ll probably hear is one comparing Terri Schiavo to anyone requiring a lot of help (medical or otherwise). Should we off the profoundly retarded who will never do anything more than drool in a nursing home? You’ll also get the argument that choosing to die is suicide, a sin, and thus as it will be your final action sent you straight to hell. Don’t hurt me too bad; I’m just playing Christian’s advocate.

Let me give it a shot:

  1. All life is God’s gift and precious.

  2. God determines when it’s time to die.

  3. Mere human beings shouldn’t play God and interfere with The Lord’s dictates on life.

  4. Therefore life is to be preserved no matter what, even if it means hooking the container for that life up to machines, inserting feeding tubes, jump-starting a heart that stops…

Um, that doesn’t sound right. Let me get back to you on that.

FYI, you can email the Jebster at <email address deleted>. Will it even be read by the guy, let alone do any good? I seriously doubt it, but it might feel good to send a message anyway.

Well, here’s what one proud Catholic, Rick Santorum, had to say on the subject:

Two things I’d tell Mr. Santorum if he were a member of this message board. [ol][li] Terri Schiavo was not merely disabled, she was effectively brain dead.[/li] [li]Ms. Schiavo did express her desire as to how her life should be dealt with. It’s just that her parents refused to listen![/ol][/li]
This Christian’s opinion is that there isn’t anything to fear in death and prolonging Ms. Schiavo’s existence in this manner was a travesty and an injustice. It’s my sincere belief and hope that her soul departed her body 15 years ago. I’m glad her body is free now, too.

This is new information?

How is any of this “new information”? Haven’t all the facts and various statements from all the court cases and interviews been out there for all who were even the least bit interested to read? Didn’t Jeb bother to educate himself on the whole matter when he first stuck his nose into it? From what I’ve been reading Bush is making his whole assessment of a 40 to 70 minute time gap based on various interviews where MS gave different times and what the Schindler’s lawyer is saying. It was 15 years ago and how many people remember things accurately or will shorten a time and say “I found her around 5am”, when they meant 5:40am.

According to the autopsy report the initial call was at 5:40 am, the paramedics arrived and found MS and Bobbie Schindler with TS at 5:52 am. She arrived at Northside Hospital at 6:46am and her blood was drawn at 7:01am.

If one of the Schindler’s was there so quick it seems to indicate they were staying with them or that they were close by and MS called them at around the same time as EMS. It hardly sounds like something someone would do if they had done something to her to cause her collapse especially if he actually wanted her dead.

Jeb is just being even more dispicable than he was during the whole fiasco. Oh and the fact that Bernie McCabe has agreed to look into it means absolutely nothing. If the governor asked any law enforcement agency to look into some granny’s parking tickets they’d agree.

Please keep in mind that the Christian Right does not represent the views of most Christians. They are just the more vocal ones because many believe that they have a right to make their religious beliefs government policy.

As usual, I’m with Siege on this one.

If there had been anything suspicious in the circumstances fifteen years ago, I think the medical staff would have alerted the police. Certainly, someone in the judicial system would have picked up on it in the last fifteen years. This is new information only to Jeb Bush.

My question is this. Why should Bush mention the 911 call at all unless he is presecuting Michael Schiavo? Why not simply ask for an investigation into the cause of her collapse? He is the one putting spin on it my implicating Terri’s husband.

Revtim, I removed the email address in your post, per the new rule regarding posting of email or other contact information.

Oh, OK.

Really, what this makes me want to “investigate” is the possibility that Barbara Bush was noshing on lead paint chips.

I echo the sentiment of the OP.
We need a CT of Jeb’s head to see what is sloshing around in there.

You may want to know what’s in there.

I don’t. I just ate.

Serious question, Bricker. You’re a lawyer. If you were a prosecutor, is this a case you would want to run with? If so, what would be the best outcome you could hope for?

I’m having trouble understanding this. Bush said this:

But what could he hope for other than a mere suggestion of wrongdoing by Shiavo?

If he doesn’t even know what his own position is, there’s no point interrogating him about it.

I read the veredict of the judge in the Florida case circa 2002, She virtually called those doctors quacks. This nincompoop Governor has no reading comprehension at all.

The NY Times response:

My mistake, the judge was a He; still, those “highly respected neurologists” were pretending then that their treatments would heal her! They may be neurologists but a couple of them were trying to apply remedies that were completely out of the scope of the condition Ms. Shiavo was. I still wonder why they were not arrested then for malpractice!

And they say that Jeb is the smart one of the Bushes?

I wonder if jebby isn’t preparing for 2008.

If he is, he’s doing a good job of alienating this Republican.
