You are sure fighting hard to use the C word.

Yeah, but that was in QZ. Hijacking a Pit thread over bad language makes you look like a complete asshole.
And it was admittedly a complete screw-up om my part. For some reason, I thought I was in the Pit at the time. The stupidity of the interview shocked me into forgetting where I was.
Mostly, I don’t bother to respond to mistakes like that, but I think it’s worth mentioning, just so that you know, that you are incorrect.
I don’t know about that one. But, since Australia was mentioned as the context for that word, I’ll report that in Australia, the word is mostly applied to men, and never compares them to women, directly or indirectly. It compares them to other cunts – that is, it compares them to men. It is a gendered word. If it is applied to a woman, it is categorizing her as someone who can be dealt with as a man.
So “cunt” doesn’t mean “vagina” in Australia?
I don’t see a mistake in my post. It means exactly what I intended it to mean. “Dick” is not primarily used in a sexist manner–it’s just a more intensive version of “ashshole.” But “bitch” usually is. It’s used of women, or to imply that a man is acting like a (negative stereotype of a) woman.
It’s also reclaimed by some women as a word of empowerment, but it could only be reclaimed because it was sexist in the first place. If “dick” were its equivalent, then I would expect men to have reclaimed that word, too.
And, yeah, I am aware that “cunt” has a different meaning in other countries. That’s exactly what makes discussing it more complicated (hence not wanting to go back and change my whole post to cover that complication), and why I specifically limited my post to the US. So I don’t disagree with the rest of your post at all.
