Fucking Starcraft jackasses; why the fuck won't you let me enjoy the goddamn game?

(Mild I guess, although my mood isn’t)
All night long I’ve been playing against people in SC. Not one match out of the 25 or so that I have played I have actually gotten to enjoy. Full of cheaters, RUSH RUSH OMG(RUSH 5 NO0b)-ers, and people with strange senses of honor.

-The “BSer” This is the person who is your allie, meaning they should be defending you right? No, no, silly no0b. While you’re defending yourself while buliding a proper base, this guy is doing a rush, basically buliding mass units in a short time, and normally attacking the opposing force. He comes into your base, usally right after an attack from the opposing under the pretense of getting more minerals or something like that. Suddenly you’re being attacked, and being told “Haha fagot Your base is shit n00b”

That is not a real win, jackass. Morons like this should get permeanently banned from B.net for being such moronic players who pad their win count with matchs like this and generally be morons.
Nearly all matchs so far have been this one.

-Military jackass I had never encountered this type of player before this night. I sent in a bulider unit to my allies base to bulid a extra homebase in the unlikelyhood that mine would be destroyed. He told me to move the base. Seeing as it was terran I could move the base, so I told it to go elsewhere, as I did my bulider unit. The homebase moves verrrrry slowly, taking plenty of time to move it even short distances.

Suddenly this guy starts shooting my base  I thought he was being a BSer so I sent a couple of military units to stop him. He killed them, shot down my base, and told me “I was just killing some rebel units.”

Ok.
WTF?

Next, he came into my base and destroyed all my military units. Asked why he said because of the “rebels” and him wanting to kill any other posible rogues and “because I told you to scout” and said since I don’t follow orders I can’t have any military units.

Fuck.
Let me just say something, because I don’t think I could quite convey it then,

FUCK YOU!
I feel so much better now

The quality of Starcraft on Battle.net seems to have decreased markedly in the last year or so. Here are some solutions to your problem:

  1. Play 1v1 games.

  2. Create your OWN game. If you are the game creator it is highly unlikely that 2 other morons will join it and screw you over.

Aslan2, I’ll play starcraft with ya on Battlenet. I play it every so often, but usually only with friends, so as to avoid that obnoxiousness you describe. E-mail me if you want to play sometime.

You forgot “kekekekekekeke”.

Stuff like this is the single biggest reason why I refuse to play games on-line against strangers.

BS LAG STFU PRONER NOOB GET A GUN TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

I will do that, Eonwe.

Also don’t play BGH or money maps. If there are even any real games on bnet any more.

Also there’s nothing wrong with rushing. If you can’t defend a rush in a 2v2 you don’t deserve to win anyway. If your ally doesn’t counter when you get rushed then he probably doesn’t either.

Also if you sent a builder unit to your ally’s base to build an extra home base, you are a newbie. Sorry.

The best way to avoid backstabs begins before the game starts. Don’t enter stupid games, or failing that, play with a friend. Once you’re in a game with a bunch of idiots, the best plan to avoid being stabbed has two prongs. First, if your ally sends ANY units into your base, kill them. Immediately. Don’t hesitate. Even if they are ‘builder units.’ Being the first to turn the ally off almost guarantees that you’ll beat him. Second, if you find yourself being backstabbed, don’t stick around trying to survive or bitching about what a jerk the BSer is. Just leave and go find another game. Unless you’re going to win the 1v3. In that case stay, and make sure you talk as much trash as possible while it goes on.

:dubious: I’ve played with very experinced players who have done this, so I don’t know about that.

I do. I certainly don’t expect you to just take my word for it, but you’d be right if you did. It’s your right to be dubious, but that’s just not something a good player would do.

You’re right, I apologize. I was just tired of playing a game and suddenly having two of our allies turn on us, so I placed it their just in case.

Battle.net has the dregs of humanity on it sometimes, I swear. I’m almost tempted to buy SC just to give you someone to play against.

I don’t even bother playing the kids on Battlenet. (Okay, there was that one time, when my 'toss ally wandered in and set up a bunch of photon cannons around my base, and then “un-allied.”)

I like LAN parties with folks that I know-- You can hear their cries of anguish (or exultation,) and they don’t pull any stupid shit because they know they’re going to have to live with you day-to-day.

That being said, I’d be into hooking up on B-net with some folks that aren’t drooling cretins. You can password protect your games & stuff, right? Let’s have a Dopecraft/Starfest.

OT–
Am I the only who thinks of the Terran Explorer when they hear references to Todd Beamer’s Let’s Roll!? Whenever I see it in print I hear it in that silly voice and it totally detracts from the intended gravity.

Yep, I love hooking up with some friends and playing for a good hour. No cheaters, and sometimes it helps when they have their sound up so I know if they’re developing a unit or not.

That’s an awesome idea… I’ll go start a thread.

Well this seems to be gathering more steam than past attempts. So if there is to be a Dopecraft, count me in. I’ll dust off the old CDs and reinstall and whip all your butts. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve played SC since it came out, although I haven’t played for a while. I go into public games expecting to get backstabbed and take measures to limit my damage and to raise my counteratack ability. Most times, I still lose because it’s too late by the time I notice the BS, but other times it’s very satisfying wiping up the floor with the backstabber. I used to play a lot with a real life friend and we’d watch each other’s back. It’s amazing what a small fleet of carriers or battlecruisers can do to the backstabber’s base.

If you’re wondering what I do to minimize backstabbers chances, I keep a decent sized “reaction force” in my base to defend and to attack the BS’er. They can put a drone in my base “just in case”, but I tell them if they build, they’re dead unless they have a reason to build. Early in the game, they will not build, unless their main base is under serious attack. I also watch when they bring forces towards my base.

I’m feeling you, Aslan. I played Starcraft/Brood War for some four years. I also played DII and Warcraft III all on Bnet. While I spent a good bit of time in clans, I could tell you 5,000 games that really pissed me off. From TPing, un-allying Sorcs in D2, Backstabbing in Starcraft, Map hack rushes, etc. I stopped playing online games almost a year ago and not because of Bnet assholes. But it sure feels good to be without them :).

I’ll take your advice to heed.
A problem though, with some games is where two players squabble(both being allies of each other), one starts attacking the other, I attack the BSer. Then the BSer usally says “hey red allie against Aslan” and then they both allie up. So,(if the first player was destroyed, usally happens) I am faced off against 3 enemys, 2 of my former allies. It fucking drives me crazy.

I’d join a Doper Starcraft game. I’ve never played online, but recently rediscovered how much I enjoyed the game.
