A friend of mine posted this on Facebook:
What funny signs have you seen?
There was one outside of Ruidoso, NM that always made me laugh. Hand painted on plywood, all on a single line:
BBQ Ice Cream →
My high school had a sign posted over a dumpster that read:
This one is on Australia’s main highway.
Our local scrapyard has a sign on one of their sheds:- “non-ferrous customers only”. So the Iron Lady and Men of Steel are not welcome.
A local small farm had a shingle out for their farm stand:
Tomatoes
Wood chips
Manure
Yum, make me a salad!
I have to ask… what does “Yass” mean? Is it a place?
A small farm near me:
“GOATS: Pets, Milk, Meat”
It’s a town in Australia. But you have to read the whole sign beginning with the McDonald’s logo.
Sign I saw yesterday, the original was all caps.
“Free {service} at no charge.”
Glad to know that! I’d hate to get charged for a free service.
My favorite giggle is the Bong Recreation Area sign on I-94 in southern Wisconsin.
We drove by an obviously dead motel in a remote NM town, and the sign in the window proudly proclaimed: NOW UNDER NEW MENEGMENT!
If you insist on a sign I’ve seen in real life as opposed to online, I saw a sign for a business in Houston that was advertising they sold “Beer Firearms Insurance”. And I was thinking if I sold somebody the first two, I wouldn’t want to be the guy who was insuring them.
Well that part was obvious. I got the joke. I just didn’t get what the sign was supposed to be saying since “Yass” meant nothing to me.
Live chickens fresh killed
That would almost make me feel guilty for pulling into the parking lot. I’m imagining they have all these chickens waiting and they chop off their heads as the customer approaches. And then I’d walk in and say I was just wondering if they had a public restroom.
West Covina, CA. Real sign in window of a mom & pop fabric store:
“We Reweave Rugs”
Seattle Housing Authority has signs that say “Illegal Activity Prohibited”
National Lampoon used to publish these kinds of pictures all the time, sent in by readers. A couple of the more memorable were:
Planned Parenthood Clinic
(Use Rear Entrance)
Car Wash
(hand job)
$5
I like the one on the M4 (UK motorway between London and Wales) which says:
Windsor Castle
Legoland
