My flight leaves in 32 days, 5hrs and 13mins…of course I’m excited!
Last day of pseudo-unemployment, I am going to get the strimmer out and tackle the grass. Then I have a bag of stuff to take to the charity shop so I may have to go into town unless I save that for tomorrow. I can’t think of anything I really need to do that can’t wait another day but it would be nice to have a wander round without the crowds.
Other than that, I have no plans except half an hour with the Wii and then a bath. The cats are sleeping so I can get on with stuff uninterrupted by demands for fuss and attention.
Good morning! My sweetie got home around 10 last night and he’s still crashed, poor baby. No idea what today’s plans will be, or the rest of the weekend, for that matter. I do know he’s not going to Johnstown next week, so yay!!
All you vacationers better have fun. And send postcards. And bring the rest of us souvenirs!!
Not that anyone cares, but 39 years ago today, I was flown to Orlando to start boot camp. That navy base no longer exists, as everyone goes to Great Lakes, IL now. Hard for me to believe it was nearly 4 decades ago - I was such a child and had no idea what was ahead. Funny how one decision can make such a huge difference.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 94 for the day and not a huge heat index, so yay for that.
Flytrap we do not accept Transubstantiation in the Episcopal Church based on the fact that it’s felt that Transsubstantiation is not scriptual. We believe that Christ is present in the wine and the bread, as in, it is a memorial of Christ’s death upon The Cross but the wine and bread are not the actual Body and Blood of Christ. There is an “English Catholic” or if you will “Anglo-Catholic” movement but it is not a part of the ECUSA or the Anglican Church as a whole. Here’s the wiki on [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Catholicism]Anglo-Catholicism** for your perusal.
Transubstantiation is a hard word to type.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy says “feed me now!” Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. At least it’s Firday.
Thank goodness it’s Friday at last! I have so much to do here at work, but I’m going to try and not sweat it if I can’t complete everything I want to get done.
I don’t have big plans for this vacation; other than going to a cabin up by Leavenworth with a group of people to celebrate a milestone birthday. Oh, and dropping my son back off at college.
My really fun vacation occurs at the end of September. That’s when I’m heading to Kauai. I CANNOT WAIT!!!
No summer vacation for us due to well life happening. And I need one badly but I will save it up for Christmas I guess which is when I had my last one.
I plan on taking a couple of Fridays off in September.
It is hot still here in OKC. Although it will only be 109 vs the 113 of yesterday
Got another jerk - or maybe the same with a different IP - on the blog. ‘Still taking constructive critisicm the same way as you always did, I see. Someone doesn’t like your writing so they must be a troll.’ I pointed out that constructive criticism implies some actually critique, not just saying that someone sucked. And I put up a page with my comment policy (I approve all non-spam comments).
And because I got ‘feedback’ I’ll post another chapter today!
Could they please try a little harder? I’ll admit here, that I get anxiety attacks when I feel like I’m being picked on, but all that does is make me less likely to back down. I try to watch myself on the Dope, because I don’t want to appear to be a total jerk. But on my own space? Go for it! It amuses me and makes me stronger.
In other news, the guy the moved in above me is running an unsecured network. And yes, I totally took advantage of it last night to do things I don’t want to do at work. My internet stuff should be coming in a couple of days though. And if I see him, I’ll let him know he should turn on the security.
ETA: Apparently the commenters are from GiraffeBoards. Thanks for the traffic, guys!
Taking a break. Just had more chorizo and eggs for lunch. Yum!
I’ve gotten quite a bit done so far. I’ve been trying to just focus on one piece at a time so that I don’t get overwhelmed and slow down or give up. I finally got some epoxy that actually sticks to silverware and I’ve sorted through my oops bin to find stuff I can make into pins. So for my next project I’m going to stick it to… the man?
Hugs to all in need. Yesterday we went to the grocery store and bank (don’t you love it that the grocery stores have banks in them?!) and I took care of some banking business that I’d been neglecting - nothing bad, just stuff I hadn’t done that needed to be done. On the way out, though, I scraped the back of my left leg on the steps, and opened up an old wound. I have been through this before and don’t want to go through another round! I washed it out gently and dried it off gently, then applied some antibiotic ointment. And today I’ve got my compression hose on that foot. The ointment is prescription, which I had to use earlier this spring on the same spot - it really did re-open an old wound, unfortunately. Hopefully, it will clear up in a few days; that’s what happened last time, at least, so am hoping for similar results. This is very problematic for a diabetic, so please keep my in your thoughts, or at least my poor leg!
Other than that, I’m fine! And I finished “Wind through the Keyhole” in record time - just a few days, but then again it was not 700 pages. LOL I do so love Stephen King, but I tell you that Dark Tower series was gruesome in parts.
ShinyCat, I have bookmarked your book journal, and will peruse it in a while. I can’t imagine why someone would want to leave comments that weren’t really critique, sounds like someone with a problem. I look forward to reading what you’ve put up so far, though!
It is HOT in Albuquerque, but that is par for the course for August. I’m dealing. I am missing friends and relatives back east, and trying to persuade my brothers to visit - one lives in the TX panhandle, so he is the nearest to me; they might come next weekend!! Talking over Facebook and/or via email just is not the same as seeing face to face.
Hope everyone enjoys their Friday and has a good weekend ahead. One last Olympic-related story from me: I participated in a track meet when I was in 5th grade, and did poorly in both events that I had been entered in. It was NOT anything I had signed up for; I think that they had everyone in school entered in some event! Bizarre, and definitely not a way to encourage youth to participate in sports, imho.
