Future Olympic events - a sporty MMP

Last real day of vacation before I run the kids back to their mom tomorrow. It has been a nice 2 weeks.

I’m kinda ready to do the work thing again. I think 2 weeks off in a row is too much for me. Will have to stick to 1 week shots from now on.

Was fun to see the Hal Briston situation resolve itself very quickly - there’s a reason why I like the Dope community so much.

Thank you, ma’m.

You mean your Radioactive Spider Bite[sup][sup]TM[/sup][/sup]?

I’m up and caffeinated. 12 hours till vacation.

I too am up and caffienating. It’s supposed to be around 91 here today.

I’ve got some chores I’d like to get done around the house, and later in the afternoon we’ll head to a friend’s house for a BBQ. That’s about the extent of my plans today.

**BBBobbio **- my kid saw you this morning when she ran into WalMart to get a can of spray paint. She said she couldn’t stop to chat because she’d left Cozmo in the car. Alas, your loss…

We (mostly FCD) just finished making 4 hand forms for displaying my mitts. After he mounts them on a base, I’ll polyurethane the crap out of them! That’ll make them nice and smooth and shiny. Then I need to make 4 sample mitts for the display. I’m also going to take a photo of my daughter’s hands in a pair of mitts holding her phone in the text position - that’ll go on the display also. All of my profits will go into making the display stand. What’s wrong with this picture?? OK, not totally - we’ll be using a lot of random materials we have in the house. Frugal rules!!!

I found the school colors for the high schools in the county, but not for the middle schools. I suppose I could call and ask - would that be creepy?

Back to work with me…

I’ve already packed most of the stuff in the car this morning while it was relatively cool out. Now I’m showered and just taking a few minutes to chill before I head off to the bank to get change.

Then when I come back I have to finish my desserts for tonight’s birthday part and also wrap the gift. I hope I got things that she will like, it’s been a long time since I was 16.

Oh, and anybody have any suggestions for a happy (and hopefully free) book I can read on my kindle app on my phone? I just finished the most dreadful book and if I’d had any idea that it would have ended the way it did, I wouldn’t have read it at all.

Ok, off I go!

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

Mawnin All and Happy Satyrday,

We had geezer Rock and Roll night last night and will do it again tonight. A little background, I am an old Punk Rock/Metal kid who used to have an 18" tall mohawk, played a bass that hung around my knees, saw the Ramones 3 times etc.

Houston in the Nineties had a great music scene, which of course has died. So these guys decided to make a movie about it and get a bunch of these bands back together. Here is the trailer.

Hence Geezer Rock night, there is something amazing about watching 40 year old guys and gals go at it like they were still 20. Better yet some brought their kids. Best example, 18 hole ox-blood Doc Martens, open hole pink fishnet stockings, leather shorts, seven seconds t-shirt, leather wristbands, hot pink mohawk, shooters muffs(for the sound), spent the whole show on her moms’ shoulders rawking out, she was about eight years old, awesome. She knew all the words to California Uber Alles, a Dead Kennedys tune, all of them.

Anyhoo, welcome to my life. I know most of you have no idea what I am talking about but I just had to share.

Happy Satyrday

JIM

That’s actually pretty interesting, **Jim. **

It’s kind of interesting to note the different music scenes across the states. Seattle had a big one going on around the same time, but it was grunge rock. I liked it. Oddly enough, I never once got to see any of those bands in concert.

Really I saw Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney and later Slater-Kinney, Hole and a ton of others, but I have been playing or working in the music biz since 86’ with a few exceptions. I am still that idiot kid who saw the Butthole Surfers on the Rembrant Pussyhorse tour and said “yeah I gotta get into that”, yep still an idiot.

JIM

Nah, you were just gutsy enough to follow your passion.

I don’t know what you whippersnappers are jibber jabberin’ about! Stay off’n mah lawn!

Home from the meetin’ and have had N.O.L. Stopped by MickeyD’s cause for reasons I do not fully understand, I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a double cheeseburger. ‘Tis also cloudy out so I’m hopin’ for rain.

I feel a nappy poo comin’ on soon.

Laterz!

No, her loss, and Cosmo’s. :stuck_out_tongue:

I understood all of it! Was never part of the scene, but always liked it. Still wearing nothing but boots unless work won’t let me get away with it, and was abnormally proud to finally get my oxblood red Docs…at the age of 45, lol. Yay for Ebay! Could never afford them otherwise, unfortunately.

It’s currently only 90, at 10 a.m., will only get to 105 or so for the weekend, yay! Appreciating it now, because next week will be mostly around 115.

The new house has a ‘back room’, that slopes a little, and sucks the light out of everything so it’s always kind of dark even with lights on, but…we have the new desks set up back there, computers and techno-fun-stuff all set up, so the Computer Cave is well on it’s way  Can’t call it the Bat Cave, as the cats would take umbrage.

115 degrees??? Oh my God! Where do you live?

I cannot abide heat and that is just insane. I am perfectly content with about 75 degrees, 80 with a breeze. I guess I’ve lived up here far too long to ever become acclimated to that kind of heat.

I, three, am caffienating after having gone back to sleep for 5 hours

I’m back again. Getting ready to do a bit of homework and then heading out for the party.

ETA: Well, it pays to be the first person in a group project to add your stuff to a google document. You don’t have do read, edit, or deal with anyone else’s! And so I’m done.

I haven’t done one productive thing this morning. Just been cruising the 'net. Well, I did plug in my camera to charge the battery, but really, how labor intensive is that?

They’ve issued a heat advisory for this area because they are now saying temps will top out in the mid-90s. That is damn hot for this part of the country, but it’s really nothing compared to what some of you have suffered. I think we must be a bunch of pansies over here.

We now have wildfires. Everything is tinder box dry and the slightest thing sets things away. The one south of OKC they believe was set deliberately

Got up early and ran the sprinkler on the front yard while eating breakfast. Ran to the Farmers Market and tomWallynWorld on the way home. I have also scrubbed the kitchen cleaned the litter box and vacuumed the whole house. And now I am off to scrub the master bath while I still have motivation.

I saw that in the news, ems. :frowning: That is just awful.

I am within spitting distance of Mexico, near Mexicali. And so much for the weather report, as it’s already 110 in the shade out back, argh!! I moved here after spending 5 years in Virginia, so I went from always wet and chilly to always dry and hot, lol. No mold, at least.

To be fair, there’s at least 4 months a year where the weather is so nice that people come here from every where else; unfortunately it’s all desert and rocks, when I want mountains and lakes, so I don’t do much outside even when it’s nice. This is all MrTao’s fault <he’s why I moved here> but he lets me keep the AC at a ridiculous-for-this-area 74, when most folks keep it at 80. In a couple years when I drag him up to the Pacific Northwest, I’ll let him keep the heat as high as HE wants.

I will be missing the little mexican groceries though; just got onions, green and white; cilantro, lemons and peppers for a buck. Total. American grocery, but mexican, if you know what I mean. And MUCH fresher and better lookiing than wallyworld’s produce. And avocados are year-round cheap. I will miss that, too.
