you could always do what we on the east coast call the snowbird thing - Mexicali in the winter, PNW in the summer.
Yep, snowbirds make up most of the business in the valley. Actually, for much of neighboring Yuma, AZ as well. We’ll be moving-moving, though, as we’re not near retirement age; still gotta work! Speaking of which…now that we’ve moved, another week until we get the puppy, another week or two after that to get him accomodated to a routine, and then off to find work for myself. Being laid off has been a blessing in terms of time-to-get-stuff-done, 'cause we had kind of a lot of stuff with the move and all, but obviously it’s not worth it now, money-wise.
Napped and feel all refreshed. I have steaks marinatin’ and have the friggin’ good N .O.T. prepped and a sallit made. MMMMMMMMMM!!! Gonna be a good dindin.
Other than that, I got nuttin’.
Aye carumba! I’m most definitely not a fan of the desert. I like living here in the PNW. Yeah, the gray winter months can be a drag sometimes, but I can always warm up, whereas if it’s too hot, I can’t really cool down.
What part of the PNW are you going to move to?
Ran some errands, got some late lunch/early supper, and now I’m home to veg. Off to assume the knit/crochet position!!
I am at a birthday party. Hiding in the backyard. I figured it would be impolite to cry inside. Now if someone could cheer me up quickly I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

{{{StickyBuns}}}. How bout a joke?
What’s invisible and smells like carrots?
Rabbit farts!
Hope that helps.
Dindin is et. 'Twere good. Now it’s relaxate time.
Nah, highway dept attempted to chip & seal the road; all they really did was dump piles of gravel every so often. Didn’t think I went down that hard but when I crossed the finish line there was a blood trail from my knee to my now-stained sock. (aka racing stripe)
Irk is 7.5 miles from my house; I was in the orifice every day in the past week & still managed to put 700+ miles on the odometer, getting home after midnight three of them. Not much accomplished today other than recovery from sleep deprivation.

If a crocodile makes shoes, what does a banana make?
Slippers! :D:D
Also, I have posole cooking for you! And if you can’t eat it from there, that’s ok, I’ll eat it for you.
Taters, my family’s in Idaho
I lived in Portland a couple of years, and in Eugene, OR about 7 or so. Always wanted to live in Seattle, but the money for a move just never happened. At this point I don’t think I could convince MrTao to trade desert heat for wet mold, lol, but I’ve got him hooked on the Boise idea at least. I’d like to be close to my parents, they’re getting older; AND I really love all the outdoorsy options in SW Idaho. Love it, love it. Spent a lot of time trying to get OUT of Boise, and now I just want to go back
Of course it’s changed quite a bit, and is more grown-up now. Skateboarding is no longer a crime, for example.
Two hours ago it was 95 degrees. Then the Big Ass storm came through and it’s 73 now. We were in Best Buy when it hit. Cars were up to their hubcaps in water. After it stopped raining we went to Panda Express where, as usual, I et too much. But it was good.
And I’m a great-aunt! Yes, I’m great, and yes, I’m an aunt, but my nephew’s wife had a baby girl (he’s my only nephew and I have only one niece who is just dee-vorced and said she will never have a boyfriend. let alone get married). The little girl is Mollie Naomi (Naomi after my mom, the baby’s great-grandmother). She is the 5th generation to have that name and I think that’s really cool. And she’s cute, and does NOT look like Lyndon Johnson.
No, the baby afghan is not done yet…
Back to the OP.
I got it, I got it!
Olympic Black Board Scraping.
Contestants are awarded two points for each observer who passes out, one point for observers who fall to the floor foaming at the mouth.
Congratulations, Peedin! Isn’t being an aunt great, you can have all kinds of fun and still sleep through the night.
And Flytrap, lol! I think that one would be against the Geneva Conventions.
Thanks for the jokes.
I am home and better. The party was at Dave’s brother and SIL’s house and whenever we would go there we would sit around the kitchen table and talk and there was one chair that Dave always sat in because it was more comfortable for him. And when I saw that rotten old chair tonight it made me cry.
I have to say, though, that he raised a pretty good kid. His son and I were talking about it after the fact and he made me feel much better by telling me the silly things that had made him cry.
Now I’d better get back to work!
Oooh, I’ve got one:
Rhythmic Gymnastics.
With cats.
I have no idea how you would score that, but I don’t think anybody would care.
Vacation!!!

A horse walks into a bar, the bartender asks, “Why the long face?”
Tao, my Aunt Mary and Uncle Mike are snowbirds
There are TONS of people who are, apparantly! And I don’t blame them one bit. Without snowbirds there would be no business here, I don’t think. There are more RV storage places here than I imagined would exist anywhere.
Mr.Tao’s ex-inlaws went to N California during the summer, then down here during the winter. They’d go off the grid up in the north…well, sort of. They had a whole plot of land with a gold mine, generators, full cabins that they built, satellite, you name it. All self-sufficient. Pretty neat. Well, until the Mr was crushed in a gold mine accident. >.< But their kids love that kind of thing, and I can’t imagine the camp will go fallow for long.
I haven’t been to Boise since I was a kid, **Tao. ** I live south of Seattle now, but lived in the Eugene/Springfield area while my Dad served his time in Vietnam. Left there, and lived in Germany for three years. We came back to the States and were stationed at Ft Lewis. Lived there a couple of years and then moved to Tacoma, where I finished growing up.
I moved out to unincorporated Pierce County in '91 and have been in this area ever since. Eventually, we’d like to move out closer to Mt. Rainier, maybe on a lake. I don’t know if it’ll ever happen, but that’s our hope. We wouldn’t mind moving out toward North Bend either.
I’ve traveled all over the states, and spent a good amount of time traveling all around Washington and Oregon. Once I hit adolescence, I spent a little time in Lewiston, ID where I’d visit cousins who lived there.
Before I ever lived in Oregon, I lived in Lawton, OK. I was a baby then and don’t have any real memories of that place.
We had a nice time at our friend’s place. Lots of laughs and good food. It’s a pleasant 71 degrees right now. It was 95 when we headed to our friend’s place this afternoon. I’m glad it cooled down a bit.
Yeah, heat+humidity is :eek: It’s really not a joke. The last couple weeks here we’ve had humidity and it’s been just…UGH!!! Not a normal thing. At least when it’s 110+ it’s usually not humid, 'cause that really does help bear the heat better when it’s dry. When it’s a sauna outside, holy crap. Can’t even sweat properly!
Yeah, when I went to Vegas, it was 105 with -10 % humidity. Verry bearable. I am at the airport, waiting for flight.
