Gah!! The Two Towers trailer!!

alot of the press and chatter about it said 10 minute trailer.

I’m interested in reading Dr. Qadgop’s impressions, assuming his schedule allows him the time to see it. How about it, Dr. Q?

Saw it in the theater, enjoyed it, can’t wait for December! What else can I say? Theoden, Eomer looked cool. Eowyn looked hot! Grima son of Galmod looked slimy. Gollum looked damned gollumish! What’s up with Arwen? I’ll have to see how it plays out to see if I like it or not. I enjoyed seeing her in FOTR: the movie, even if it was non-canon. Was Faramir in the trailer? I didn’t notice. Went by too fast. I’ll have to download it.

Heh

Also, in case anyone was curious, Shelob was not in the Trailer because the whole Frodo/Sam/Shelob encounter has been moved back to the Return of the King.

Peace

Uh-oh. That doesn’t sound good at all. You mean, we’re not going to be left at the end of TTT with Sam beating his fists on the gate as his not-quite-dead master is taken into the tower by orcs?

Yep, that’s what I am saying. Jackson reveled it in an interview a month or so ago. His reasoning was that after the Shelob encounter not much really happens to Sam & Frodo until they reach Mount Doom. And while walking through Mordor could never been considered dull, showing it on film for extended periods of time would be. So Jackson moved the Shelob encounter up to RotK for dramatic effect. Makes sense to me. I don’t have a problem with it.

This of course also makes room for more Helm’s Deep footage and the Ents attack on Isengard (which will be in the TT!).

Damn, you mean that we have to wait another year longer for the Choices of Master Samwise? That was my favorite chapter of the trilogy! I can’t wait that long!

Yep, that’s what I am saying.

Also, with the Scouring of the Shire out, RotK had more room for additional footage. Another reason why the Shelob affair could be absorbed into RotK. Damn, Return of the King is going to be one hell of finale!

By the way…I sent off an e-mail to theonering.net, inquiring as to when I might see an authorized version of the trailer on the web. I received a reply that “more info will be available on Friday” (tomorrow).

It might be worthwhile to check the official site (lordoftherings.net) for news tomorrow.

Ack ack ack! They’re leaving the Scouring out? I’d heard that before, but hoped it wasn’t true… (wailing and sobbing). Please, please, don’t let them change the very end. If Frodo settles down happily in the Shire I think I’m going to have to kill Peter Jackson!..

I’m going to see FOTR tomorrow for the fourth time, partially(okay, mostly) to see the the trailer. Also partly to see Legolas, who (ahem) looks like my fiance, except with blond hair. I’m making him a Legolas outfit sometime… there was a big campaign to get him to dye his hair after we saw the movie, but he hasn’t given in yet.
Something I’ve noticed: women under 25 (silly generalization) think Legolas is hotter than Aragorn. At 26 and up, it’s reversed…
remember, it’s a silly generalization.

So, did he ask you to have your ears pointed?

Just have him cut his hair. You know that Orlando Bloom’s not a real blonde, don’t you?

ROFLMAO!

Lissla,

It’s not clear what is going to be in, but based on shots I’ve seen and other info, parts of the Scouring of the Shire (from the book) are going to be in the movie. The shire will be overrun by ruffians. Houses will burned down and rebuilt. But it looks like Saruman and Grima will not be in the Shire. It looks like Saruman is going to die at Orthanc! Merry & Pippin will probably be shown raising the Shire and defeating the ruffians. Hopefully that will show some footage of the Battle of Bywater.

The Grey Havens chapter is definitely going to be in RotK. Frodo, Bilbo, Elrond, Galadriel…they will all be departing ME at the very end, just like in the books.

And Sam will good back home and raise a ton of kids, while being Mayor of the Shire for 7 terms.

But … Shelob …

They don’t have any images out yet, right? I’ve been yearning for those out of a strange sense of morbid fascination, and I was placating myself by saying that even if she never made it into a trailer, I’d see her this December.

But … aw, shucks.

Well, no Scouring doesn’t mean no Grey Havens – Frodo’s departure from Middle-earth would have happened anyway, IMO. And the Havens, from what I’ve read, are definitely in.

(This was basically what they did in a stage adaptation of RotK I saw here in Chicago last fall – the other two parts happened before I moved here. They had also moved the encounter with Shelob to the beginning of RotK – and they only had two hours to play with instead of three.)

BTW, I’m under 25 and I definitely think Aragorn’s hotter. (Actually, last time I saw the movie, Legolas really annoyed me, but that might be because of all the Legolas drooling threads at imladris.net. :stuck_out_tongue: I liked him fine the other six times I saw the movie.)

And I loved loved loved that trailer. Isn’t it December yet?

Whew. Okay. Someone further up the page said they were cutting the Scouring. I do know that the Scouring and the Grey Havens are different, but I’m also aware that most Hollywood moviemakers like cheery, happy endings… so I’m faintly worried about the ending. I do also know that Bloom’s really dark-haired, but from the pictures I’ve seen, I think he looks better blond. Oh well. Most of my female friends (and me, as well) have a thing for long-haired, sword-carrying guys. Could be too much SCA, and too many martial arts obsessed guy friends.
Ahem. I did say the age thing was a silly generalization.
Off to watch the movie.

The info regarding an online “legit” trailer is now there, but I can’t get the link to work! whine

Oops, I mean is now there at TheOneRing.net. Dummy! still whining

What, nobody is talking about Theoden and his cool spech as they are strapping on his armor? C’mon!!!

And Faramir is in the preview, although I’m at work right now so I’ll have to wait untill I get home to tell you precisely where.
