Gale Force Winds - A Blustery MMP

Whew - anti-virus finally finished running.

Supper was leftover stew. That’s pretty much been the evening. We’s lazy.

I think it’s time to don a fuzzy robe and slippers and veg. MWAH!

Allie (also an indoor cat) has to settle for toys, and NO, Ava (our dove) does not count as a toy. Aside from lease requirements that mandate indoor pets, I’m not sure Allie’s bright enough to understand about getting out of traffic. For all I know, she’s been indoor-only ALL her life and her only exposure to cars has been for transporting her as needed.

OK, I need to be fair to her. She’s not a complete idiot, but does suffer from comparison to her predecessor, who was definitely at the high end of the feline intelligence curve. I was pretty sure Felix could read and tell time. Allie’s probably a perfectly average cat intelligence-wise, my scale’s just skewed after 16 years of Felix.

As for my day, routine. Can’t figure out why we were so slammed with customers. I was a backup cashier today in addition to my duties in my own department, and I’m pretty sure I spent at least as much time on register as I did in my department.

Now at school, killing time until class. I have tomorrow off (not for Veterans’ Day, just my regular weekly weekday off), including no class. Having a completely clear day, aside from a planned lunch with a friend from work, will be quite a novelty.

Yeah. She could bring some mice and birds inside for kitty to off in various glorious manners!

Dinner was OW made crabcakes and they came out fantastic. Just what I wanted even though I didn’t know it when I was driving home.

It has come to my attention that Solo[sup]TM[/sup] has been sellin’ red cups without Christmas ornaments for years and yet no one has protested. I say outrage is due! Who’s with me? I say no more beer pong until Solo[sup]TM[/sup] puts Christmas ornaments on all their red cups.

I told OYKW earlier that I haven’t had a good outrage in a long time. Since I don’t give a hoot about overpriced icky coffee from Starbuck’s, I thought I’d give this Solo[supTM[/sup] thing a try. Problem is I have a hyuuuuuuuuuuuge bag of red plastic cups that I paid good money for and can’t just throw away.

Dang! This findin’ a good outrage thing is hard work!

Wait ---- don’t you have that really nice red shirt you wear to church around Christmas? I don’t remember seeing any ornaments on it.

Went on a grocery shopping trip today. My God but ground beef is expensive at Farm Fresh right now! We started out by getting some salads and sitting at the Starbucks inside the Farm Fresh; I got a venti peppermint hot chocolate and continued reading DS9 screenplays. Just finished up the finale a few minutes ago.

We have got an epic shit-ton of dishes to do. Will we stop procrastinating and finally do them tomorrow? We’ll find out!

What a cowinkydink. Swampy’s also off tomorrow, & he has no class either.

Oh, you meant school :o

One must believe that your classes do not include English grammar.

Was the coffee in one of the red cups? :stuck_out_tongue:

When I lived out in the country, we had two indoor only cats, several porch kittehs and a number of barn cats. Miss Figgy, one of the indoor puddies (she had never lived outside) was always curious and we had to watch her like a hawk when opening outside doors. She had zero survival sense and was allergic to fleas to boot. Domino, her housemate, had been an orphaned barn kitty before we brought him indoors. He had absolutely no desire to go outside.

The porch kittehs and barn cats had some walking around sense but sometimes we’d find little “gifts” on the steps. None were suicidal to the extent that the buff colored one in my current complex is though.

Been cat free for a few years now since I have been single, but when the kids move in with me in the next few years I expect to be catified again, which will be nice.

Listening to remastered old Pink Floyd albums that I just bought on CD. As I have gone through my music collection I found my old collection from college and before had been decimated, so I picked up a bunch of replacements off eBay.

Currently blasting Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict.

The hockey game kinda sucked, but I won a three pack of Koozies, and a team signed goalie mask in a raffle. Back to work tomorrow.

: waves back :

I never purposely let out any of my cats, But Lucretia D. Hellcatt would shred her way through aluminum window screens to beat up cats twice her own size.

My Stormy cat always wanted outside. I wouldn’t let her out, she had never been out, but maybe since her mother was feral she just had some wild blood in her.
She’d ask to go out and I’d tell her ‘no’, so she’d walk over and start shredding the curtains, She was always getting caught between the door and the storm door as she’d try to dash out and I wouldn’t see her.
She was the one who would pee on my foot if she didn’t get her own way.

A friend found Whiskey Kitty for me. He was a stray kitten, she rescued him when some kids in the neighborhood had put a pot over him and were beating it with spoons. He was such a nervous cat, he never wanted to go outside. If he did he’d only get about 2 steps out the door and he was screaming to come back in.
He was the one who would pee on my foot if he was getting blocked up.

My friend’s goat used to pee on my foot too. She like to be scratched behind her horns and if I ignored her she’d let loose on me.

Blurf. I did not sleep well last night so I is starting off tired today. There may have to be caffeine in my morning instead of my usual decaff tea.

I went to the gym last night, very amused to see a very portly gentleman showing his three female friends how to (incorrectly) use various pieces of equipment whilst drinking his way through a litre carton of chocolate milk. Somehow I don’t think he’s quite got the point…

My cats are both indoor/outdoor cats, they have a catflap to get out of the house and plenty of gardens to roam around in. It’s a lot safer for them over here since we don’t have much in the way of predatory critters to harm them and they are both sufficiently streetwise to avoid the road and cars. I haven’t seen Ophelia go anywhere but the back garden, although I know Shadow roams a bit further on his nightly travels. She is very much a homebody and prefers to stay inside in the warm with her people for company.

Up much too early on a holiday when I don’t have to be up at all. My body hates me.

Our car, Scooter, came here as a wee baby of only 6 weeks. We were determined she would be an indoor only cat. For the first two years we managed to keep her in, gradually expanding her territory by screening in the porch. Every time I walked the dog she would cry loud enough I could hear her a block away. She wanted out so bad. She ate the weatherstripping off the door trying to get out. She aggravated us with howling and begging to go out one day hubby said “f#% it” and we turned her out. So she will be six yrs of age her next birthday. She mostly hangs around the house. She rambles all night and sleeps inside all day. She goes to walk when I walk the dog and if there is a car coming she darts out of the road. Nothing but trouble that one.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinated, so no YAWN. I’m havin’ a raspberry yogurt with ‘nanner as I post. Today I am makin’ beef/veggie soup and chikin noodle soup since I am at da cave. Nice to have some soups stored in da freezer. 'Tis 54 Amurrkin out and waaaaaaaaaaay foggy with a predicted high of 75 and sunny.

Sari I am intrigued by the fact that aminals like to pee on your foot.

OK, I need to finish up brekkie I reckon. I shall also purtify somewhat and get the soups started in slow cookers. We are goin’ over to the church house tonight for dindin and feast upon chili. I shall go a little early and set up for eatin’ cause I’m nice like that dammit!

Happy Wednesday Y’all! Happy Veterans Day to our Mumper Vets!

Yanno, swampy, you could draw ornaments on your red cups yourself. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I don’t get the outrage. If your faith is under attack
by franchise coffee cups, maybe you should rethink what you believe. Seriously…

Our experiment with Higgs failed miserably. We were both exhausted, so we went to bed around 8:30. Idiot dog spent way too much time licking her feet before getting quiet and comfy, but around 11, she was acting up again. **FCD **put her in her crate, and she let us know her displeasure by scratching on the gate and howling like she was being tortured.

I got up and locked all the critters out of the bedroom - my sweetie needed his sleep and since I had the day off, I could try another tack. Turns out part of the reason Higgs was fussing was she had to poo. So I let her out, then settled into the recliner with Netflix and an afghan, hoping we could get some sleep. I turned the TV off around 1:30 and I know we dozed in there somewhere, but my bladder roused me around 4. I dozed some more till I heard my sweetie in the shower at 6. So it was not a good night.

Part of today’s plans now includes tearing down the crate and cleaning that little corner of the family room. It occurred to me that just maybe one of the critters had peed on Higgs’ bedding, so I’ll make sure it’s all clean. And I’ll try to tire her out today so she sleeps tonight. Stoopit dog.

Our cats are both indoor critters. Ziva has no desire to go out. If we ever screen in the front porch, I can see her wandering out there on occasion. Taz, on the other hand, is an escape artiste, and he’s gotten out a few times. Mostly he’ll run 20 or 30 feet into the yard, then crouch down and yowl like he’s being tortured. Makes it easy to capture him and take him back in. Main reason I keep him in is to avoid fleas, plus I’m sure he’d wander and end up hurt or dead. So we remain vigilant.

Speaking or today’s plans: laundry and a run to the convenience center with trash and recycling. I’ve already tidied the kitchen a bit, and I would like to make a decent meal for supper. Yesterday, I vacuumed up Ziva fluff from the dining room and hall carpet, so I’m good there. I might even strip the bed today - I need to strip the guest bed also. So if I ever get moving, it’ll be a busy day.

Happy Veterans Day to all of us who wore the uniform! If I was motivated enough, I could get a free burger at Red Robin. But I don’t feel like driving all the way into “town” to eat alone. No biggie!

And Happy Wednesday, world!

:dubious:

Wait, wot?

Hope your knee is improving. Mine has done well with just steroid injections every 4 months, until the last steroid injection, which it apparently has laughed at. It still hurts.

But for fun, today I’m going for an epidural spinal injection. I have to fast beforehand (as I get sedation), and I tell you, I’m REALLY HUNGRY!

blurf

Up, caffeinated, back to work today, closing shift again.

Sari ,the same foot? And did you have to break Sah-son of the habit when he was a wee* lad?

*
