I think “pubic store” is one of our MMP running jokes.
Yesterday I went to a concert put on by a friend at the Artsy Hipster Cafe.
My family found out that our poor kitty’s kidneys are not doing well. He’s still alive for now, and the vet said that as long as he’s still eating, he’ll be relatively all right.
Listening to Spotify radio based on Little Boxes (the Pete Seeger cover). Evidently the acid content of the seed-song’s lyrics doesn’t get taken into account, but Teddy Bear’s Picnic and The Bear Necessities do make one’s boring afternoon more bear-able.
Got woken up at 0645 by the phone ringing. When I picked it up I started getting a quick “tone beep”, off for three seconds, BEEP, off three seconds, BEEP. Hung up but about 10 minutes later the same thing happened. Up to about 8 calls now, the last one about 4 minutes ago.
All I can figure, based on the tone, is somebody’s fax machine is one digit away from mine and some company has copied down the wrong number and stupidly keeps trying to get a connection. Whatever it is, it’s frustrating since there is nobody to yell/cuss at the other end, just that (*&^$$ BEEP.
So I’m up, newspaper in hand and heat turned up in the house.
I have also been to the Pubic sto’ this mornin’. I bought a 20 lb. turkey cause frozen turkey is on sale. That’ll feed the usual crowd of miscreants gathered around the table in da cave on Turkey Day. OYKW says he’s not makin’ the trip over to the wilds of West Alabammy for TDay this year. Instead he will be here TDay and go with me up to see my family the followin’ Sattidy. That will be nice. He is, however, takin’ this Firday and Moanday next week off to go visit. This has to do with gettin’ with his brothers to do some chores around his mom’s house. Can’t blame him for not wantin’ to make the same trip again in two weeks.
In other news, da cave smells souperlicious. N.O.L. will most likely be a taste test of both soups.
First load is in the dryer, second is in the washer, trash and recycling have been dispatched, and I’ve decided that it’s lunch time.
We’ll be doing a turkey-free turkey day. In fact, we’re just staying home and vegging. I’d love to smoke a turkey, but the new fridge has a very small freezer and there’s just not enough space for anything else. So we’ll eat whatever and that’ll be that.
I think this is the first Thanksgiving in all the years we’ve been married that we weren’t with one side of the family or the other… Weird…
Make 2 cheese poblano omelet for brunch ,with cumin and red pepper bacon.
Mooommmm! , I’m probably working Thanksgiving this year. People need their Prilosec, ibuprofen, and a fifth jug of Paul Masson for grandma.

**doggio **- you reminded me. Last night **FCD **asked if I wanted to help with Thanksgiving at the local Veteran’s home. I’m guessing his HOG chapter is going to do that. So I think that’ll take some of our time.
Rosie’s sig to all, especially Midget and Butters.
It’s been a busy, shitty week at Stately Doors Manor. Airman’s grandfather died last Thursday and the funeral was yesterday. The week before that, Airman was home with pneumonia and he’s still not quite over it.
I’ve got the day off today, so after my doctor’s appointment, I think I’m going to catch up on my shows and cry. I’m just feeling so wrung out.
You know that Swampy is the bestest spelur amongst us.
It’s how he spells the local supermarket
Well that explains the Grumpy part. :o
I gotta figger out the plan for acquiring of the Thanksgiving fuds. It’s not as easy to get to the sto’ that sells what I get as it used to be.
What started out years ago as a way to dispose of leftovers is now the main reason for the cookage (round II) - smoked turkey jambalaya! Even the snausages, which get smoked at the same time as the turkey are made from turkey. There’s only one local place that I know of that does turkey andouille & turkey chorizo snausages. ‘Ceptin’ they’re not real local & they don’t have the greatest of hours…unless I want to get the stuff a week in advance. Think they’ll be okay in the fridge for a whole week???
Yeah, the hot chocolate was in one of the red cups. I thought about staging a revolt, but I’m not in this for your revolution, princess. I expect to be well-paid; I’m in it for the money!
metal mouse, I used to get those calls when I had a landline. Kind of makes you wonder if someone is cussing an insurance agent or other business because their fax wasn’t received.
doggio, do you cater breakfasts?
rockin’, I’m sorry to hear about Airman’s granddad. Hugs.
spidey, a week in the coldest part of the fridge for chorizo or Andouille shouldn’t be a problem. They both have enough salt and other preservatives in them to keep well. BTW, your Thanksgiving dinner sounds YUM!
Since I won’t be going up north for TDay this year, the tentative plan is to serve at Room at the Inn, a local resource for the homeless, at noon and go to my BFF’s for the evening meal.
To all of the Mumpers who have served in the military, thank you!
It’s been a day and it’s only partly over.
I went to bed at 2am, woke up at 5am and couldn’t get back to sleep. I had to irk this am and I was barely staying awake. I got in a little nap and now I feel more alive.
Then I made the mistake of eating a few doritos, I always feel like somebody punched me hard in the gut after eating them.
Swampy - I have no idea why critters like to piss on my foot. Better than cows though, I’ve had a few of those try to mount me. Fortunately, they move so slowly it’s easy to get out of their way. I think it was my father’s fault. When I was young he told me to take my fist and punch a baby bull between the eyes. Cows have had it in for me every since. Doggio I never had a problem with Sah-son peeing on anything. Keeping him in clothes was the problem. The boy would hit the yard and everything would come off. He loved to run nekkid.
[bSari** one day Sah-son will bring home the girl (or boy, I don’t judge*) of his dreams. Be sure and tell the nekkid story.
rockin’ sorry about AD’s grandmother. Do get you some well earned rest today.
Spidey I can’t imagine there would be any problem storin’ smoked snausage in da fridge for a week.
The soups are all done. They are mighty nummy if’n I do say so myself. I have quart containers of soup all over the kitchen coolin’ down a bit more before storage in da freezer.
*at least not for that. However, if I see you eatin’ your sallit with your fish fork I will tell everybody there to point and laugh.
**FCD **is home and we’re going to Kevin’s for supper because Weds night is fried chicken night and my sweetie lurves him some fried chicken. So no cooking for me.
Laundry is done and stowed and I finished crocheting a shawl. Next project is an afghan from my sister’s granddaughter, then one for her son. His will be easy - it’s gonna look like a hockey rink, since he’s into hockey and stuff. Dunno what I’ll do for the 9-y/o girl.
Well, that was disappointing. I was all excited about the new Self + One option for health insurance - to save money over self + family that we’ve had up to now. I just made the change. My premiums are still going up $40 per month, but they are $15/mo less than the family option. So much for big savings…
