[GAME] Answer to Ask

Answer: A couple of days. My son said something silly - I don’t even remember what it was now - and I got a good belly laugh out of it.

Ask: Will you be mowing in the next three days?

Nope. I had to hire someone new for this year and he was by this past week. Guy from last year is completely MIA. It’s becoming a rite of Spring and I don’t like it.

Ask: Are you lucky enough to be witness to cicada Brood II

Answer: Not yet, but the cicadas are one of my favorite parts of a sultry Ohio summer.

Ask: Did you watch either Conan O’Brien or President Obama’s shticks from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner?

Answer: Not a bit of it. Happily I have no cable or satellite tv. Such programming does not make it to local tv here.

Ask: Ice cream topping choice: Crushed oreos or rainbow sprinkles?

Answer: for me, Crushed Oreos; for my grandson, both!

Ask: Do you prefer your martinis shaken or stirred?

Answer: Neither; I don’t care for martinis.

Ask: Have you seen at least half of the James Bond movies over the years?

Answer: Yes, I’ve seen all but four (and I’m looking forward to Skyfall).

Ask: If you hadn’t picked your current Doper Name, what would have been your second choice?

Answer: Y’know, I’ve actually given that some thought. Probably something from Monty Python - maybe HM Minister of Silly Walks, Jethro Q. Walrustitty, Imperialist Tidbits or Quite Staggeringly Popular.

Ask: Are you quite content with your username?

Answer: Yes, it seems to be a pretty good fit.

Ask: Do you by chance know the name of an Austrian woman whose first name starts with J, active in the creative arts (but not an actress or singer), who died after 1950?

Really Ask: Do you enjoy parlor games (such as Charades)?

Answer: Yes, I do. More than perhaps I should.

Ask: Do you have a dog or cat?

Answer: No, but I have a guard Cockatiel named Luc.

Ask: What was your favorite subject in school?

Answer: History. Love it, and always have.

Ask: Are you a math wiz?

Answer: Yeah, I’m a human calculator, basically.

Ask: What’s your favorite Disney full-length animated movie?

Answer: Counting Pixar movies, The Incredibles, hands down. Otherwise, Hercules.

Ask: Have you seen both films, and if so, which do you prefer?

Answer: The Incredibles. But you may have guessed I like superheroes. I’m not a purist, but what Disney did to Greek mythology in Hercules left me a bit dumbfounded. (Whaddya mean, Hera LIKES him?)

Ask: Where’s the farthest destination you’ve ever gone from your home?

Answer: Krakow, Poland.

Ask: If you had a free weeklong trip to anywhere in the continental U.S., where would you go?

As to Hercules, yes, they certainly took some liberties with Greek myth. Still a fun, funny, good-looking movie.

Answer: Hmm, that’s a toughie. I’ll say… Los Angeles. I’ve only ever been there briefly, and I’d like to really explore it: the beaches, restaurants, Hollywood and the museums especially.

Ask: What would you most like to do in LA next you’re there?

Answer: I’m off to the Getty; Madame Pepperwinkle wants to go to Graumin’s.

Ask: What’s your favorite alternate-history novel or series (or author)?

Answer: I haven’t read a whole lot of alternate history, but I did like SS-GB, with The Guns of the South and The Two Georges as runners up. I started The Man With the Iron Heart, but never got around to finishing it.

Question: What’s your favorite regional or national style of cooking (e.g. Chinese, Thai, Cajun, KC barbecue, etc.)?

Answer: I have many, but if I had to choose just one, I’d go with Italian. Hard to go wrong with spaghetti, pizza, veal parmagiana, fettucine, calzones, etc. Runners-up: Mexican, Southern BBQ, Thai, Middle Eastern.

Ask: What’s the most exotic or unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?
