Game of Thrones 3.06 "The Climb" 5/5/2013 No Spoilers

Remember, no book discussion here.

He had one scene in Season 1, played by a different actor. Ned sends him to take down the Mountain. He seemed unmaimed then, and Thoros was nowhere to be seen. Also, if were resurrected before then people probably would have known it. He started the Brotherhood sometime after that, when all the post-Robert’s death insanity started. I am unclear about how much time should’ve passed since then.

By “the Crows” do you mean the ragtag remnants of the group last seen killing each other at Crasters? Those guys are heading back to Castle Black.

The Wildlings climbed a section of the Wall that doesn’t have a manned castle, in search of a way to let Rayder’s “army” through. Don’t think everybody can make that climb. The Wall used to be much more thoroughly patrolled; many of the castles are abandoned. We heard the Wildlings comment that the Watch used to maintain a treeless perimeter–but doesn’t any longer…

No, *no spoilers. * And this is hardly “book discussion”.

For fucks sake, no one mention the word “book” in these threads ever again. You add nothing to the discussion and you just fucking open it up to stupid squabbling again. THE BOOKS DO NOT EXIST IN THESE THREADS, stop talking about them in any context, and stop trying to argue the policy.

The premise of these threads is that the ***** do not exist.

So, Dewey is correct, no **** discussion, and that means even acknowledging that there are *****.

No, the rules for these no spoilers threads is that the books don’t exist. So, any reference to the books is unwelcome.

That’s not a 'rule". Anyway, I wasn’t talking about the book, I was saying that the torture scenes on the HBO show were unnecessarily gratuitous, and before anyone said ‘well GRRM is pretty explicit’ , heading them off.
Do we want to hijack this thread again with endless arguments about what’s “in the book” or not?
**No spoilers. **

(Beavis and Butthead) :”* Heh he said ‘book’. Heh.”*

You’re the one doing the hijacking. You’re the one with a history of causing these problems on purpose. Just stop.

Please don’t ruin this for everyone.

We’ve all agreed to cooperate and post in these particular GOT threads with the understanding that there are no books. Can’t you just respect that? There are other threads where you are free to talk about the books.

I don’t want to know how the books are different because I plan to read them after the show. Please don’t spoil the books for me.

Sure, because I posted:* “Unclear, it could have been tricks, stage magic, hypnosis, alchemy, etc.

But really, this show is good WAY to much into the torture. The books simply implied, never actually detailed it while it was occurring. “ *

**and four posters, instead of simply ignoring the “b-word’ jumped right in to start a hijack. **

Read my post. I wasn’t even talking about the books, I was talking about how the torture scenes on the HBO show were unnecessarily gratuitous.

Dr Deth, knock it off. You know there’s a button there and you delight in pushing it. Instead of trying to figure out which book references you can make in the non-book threads, stop referring to the books in the non-book threads.

You were talking about the books, stop it. It really isn’t that fucking complicated.

So that’s a no then?

Thanks.

Ah HA ! Finally found the expression I was looking for there : I meant “too thick on the ground”.

Weeeell she didn’t do magic so much as she smeared some poor sod’s wounds with infected cow shit and such. Ain’t exactly difficult to make a wounded man die back in “leeches and bleeding are good for you !” times.
OK, OK, so there might could have been some spooky shit going on in that tent. Smoke and mirrors !

She pretty clearly did magic. She turned Drogo into a zombie, there were all sorts of crazy things going down in that tent, Dany’s malformed baby, etc.

A zombie ? He was just zonked out, either on the pain of an infected wound or whatever weird plants she’d smeared on his wound. I really don’t see the need for magic there.

As for Dany’s malformed baby, well, for one thing we only have HER word for it (and we know she bore something of a grudge), for another it’s possible the Targaryen bloodline does have some kinks with the old womb, the better to breed dragons or some shit.
Bottom line, I still wouldn’t put it past Mirri Maz Durr to have bullshitted her way into an execution. Which doesn’t mean the return of the dragons isn’t important or the trigger of the return of magic - whether it was or not, it’s undeniable there’s been some weird shit suddenly going on over the past few months. Whether it’s because of the dragons, or because of the same planetary Event that also caused the dragons’ awakening, I don’t know - but then again, I’m not sure it’s really important, either. Magic shit works, deal with it, Westeros.
