Game of Thrones 5.07 "The Gift" 5/24/2015 [Show Discussion]

We also had the “dwarf head” scene with Qyburn shushing a Frankenstein('s Monster) sounding Mountain still strapped to a table.

I don’t think Tywin would strip vast income and military support from a valuable ally without compensation. Stripping lands and titles is usually only done to people you’re going to kill as soon as you can.

Littlefinger is definitely Lord of Harrenhall. Does Walder get Riverrun or does he stay at the Twins and give it to an heir? In a similar situation it sounds like Roose is going to get the Dreadfort and Ramsay gets Winterfell.

I would agree. It wasn’t lost on Ramsay that his father’s new child may be a future rival for his inheritance. I won’t be surprised if Ramsay adds infanticide and patricide to his rap sheet.

It feels odd to me that Bran and Hodor haven’t been seen this series.
If this has been addressed here - sorry - I have to admit to skim reading the threads as some people write in so much detail it makes me feel they have information from elsewhere.

MiM

This thread is for Non Book, Show only posts, While some times people post stuff they shouldnt, most of the time detailed posts are from those with the better memories I think. It is some times remarkable that people can watch the same show but come out with such different ideas on what happened

I think that Roose’s wife might have a convenient “accident” on the steps while still pregnant.

He sired a child with Lysa when they were young (her father forced her to abort), and I guarantee she aggressively insisted on her conjugal rights during her short marriage to Littlefinger.

Was this in the show? I don’t recall.

This was definitely in the show, audibly.

Well, here’s the thing. Littlefinger runs brothels. Of COURSE he is not all that worked up about sex. For years, all he had to do to get laid was order one of the girls to do whatever it was he wanted her to do. He’s probably had all the pussy he wants, however he wants it. He’s the least horny dude in the cast.

As far as I can recall this has never been mentioned in the show.

Walder’s long absence seems especially weird considering Brans very timely retelling of the story of the Rat Cook (the moral of which is The gods don’t like it when you kill guests under your roof). Not so timely now that it’s been almost 2 full seasons since we last saw him and no payoff (yet) for that story. Foreshadowing is nice, but it’s lost some of its dramatic tension after 2 years.

There is nothing for the Freys to be doing at this point, there are enough characters already without having old ones pop up just to remind us they still exist. We haven’t seen the Greyjoys for a long time either.

Could be that Walder gets clean away with the Red Wedding.

I guess it’s a good thing I wasn’t asking for him to just pop up then. :stuck_out_tongue:

He sure could. But why would they have Bran tell such an apt story at such an apt time? That seems like very cheap misdirection.

Isn’t Roose’s wife a Frey or am I misremembering?

I believe she is.

Is Roose’s wife the Frey daughter whom Robb Stark was supposed to marry?

Yes, Walder offered him his choice of Frey girls with the promise of the bride’s weight in gold. Hence, a fat wife and a full purse.

Frey offered him the daughter of his choice. He gave Catelyn’s brother a pretty one.
