Daario Naharis: surprisingly competent in a crisis.
Lena Headey also has extensive tattooing on her body, notably absent from Cersei Lannister’s body.
It’s pretty common for the camera to cut away and not show someone being killed. They did that on the Sopranos with Chris’ girlfriend Adriana. The camera tilted up as you heard the shots.
Makeup artists on a show like that should have no trouble covering up tatoos.
They have makeup for that. The actor for the Mountain has tattoos, but I don’t think that was a body double.
Where’s your Lord of Light NOW, huh?! (Sorry, I’m just feeling vindicated for doubting the powers of the Red Witch in last week’s thread. :D) I wonder if Davos will ever learn the specifics of what happened to Shireen. Does anyone still want to argue that Stannis made the right decision?
I’m less upset at Jon’s death than I am at the fact they teased us with Benjen’s return. The bastards! But seriously, once Sam and Jon had a nice friendly conversation and then parted ways saying they would meet again, I think we all had to know one of them wouldn’t survive the episode. And given Olly and Sam’s conversation about making hard choices, I’m not surprised it was Jon. I wish we knew the status of Ghost. On the plus side, I no longer care if the White Walkers destroy the Night’s Watch.
It was nice seeing Ramsey’s girl go splat. Good low-key special effects on that, and very satisfying.
Cersei’s walk of shame was brutal. I mean, it was sexy for about half a second. But then it was just sad. I can only assume that next season will begin with Zombie-Mountain making a lot of sparrow-corpses.
I hope he also arranged to have the other two dragons protected and fed. If they are still alive.
Well that was useful.
I had closed captioning on during the episode and while they were talking in the throne room. there was a caption “dragon roar” at one point.
I think the circumstances of Shireen’s death will be widely known because of all the deserters after it happened. Word will spread.
Stannis clearly did not want to go on living at that point anyway; having Brienne show up and kill him was probably the high point of his whole week.
If Dany ever makes it back to Meereen, how warmly will she welcome Varys? Remember that he was the one to whom Jorah Mormont was reporting.
Don’t threadshit again. If you don’t care about a thread about something, you don’t have to post in it.
Was the ring that Dany dropped something that marks her a Khallisie?
First episode next season Sansa makes it to the wall to see her brother.
I suspect that the High Sparrow has an understanding with the new Hand of the King about Cercei. Cercei’s humiliation makes her less of problem for her uncle and keeps her out of power so she will not be in a position to take revenge.
Even if Jon is resurrected at the start of the next season, won’t the watch kill him again?
And again. And again. And again, this time for comic effect?(cue sad trombone)
I missed that–my attention was mostly focused below her neck.
The boat is still in sight of the dock. In what scenario would it not turn around and head back?
Although, Bronn was close enough to the cute snake to have stolen her vial of antidote just in case.
As soon as I saw Ellaria Sand kissing Myrcella on the lips, I suspected poison. I saw it coming right through her conversation with uncle dad.
Jon Snow getting stabbed, I did not see coming.
When Sam and his girl headed out I was thinking “You two are gonna die, probably before the episode is over.” Well, at least I knew SOMEONE was gonna die.
I guess the death of Jon Snow leaves me unsatisfied because I think the words “You know nothing, Jon Snow” kind of implied that he would eventually know SOMETHING. Sort of leaves that unresolved.
I half expected Cersei to snuff it in that episode, was kind of surprised she did not.
I’m kind of looking forward to the massacre of what’s left of the Night’s Watch by either wights or Wildlings. Maybe both!
I noticed in the hair cutting scene that they kept jumping from Lena Hadley’s face to someone’s naked body with face obscured. I didn’t think the CGI was that bad in the Walk of Shame scene, but I could see it. Someone focussing on boobs and pubes might not have noticed. Also, nice to see pubes, nothing more out-of-place than shaved snatch in a pre-80s (or psuedo-medieval fantasy) setting. Plus I fucking hate shaved snatch anyway.
I like the “Jon’s resurrected theory.”
I half expected with that long lingering shot of him in the snow that we’d see his eyes turn icy blue before the black out.
