We don’t know that the Blackfish actually had two years’ worth of supplies; that could’ve been misinformation. The #2 guy on the battlement might know better, and decide it would be best to obey his lawful lord, Edmure. All the other knights, men-at-arms etc. would know that orders are not to be debated, but to be obeyed. That was usually what the rank and file did back then, or they’d risk mutilation, flogging or execution.
The war is far from over, isn’t true. Edmure was on the side of Rob Stark. He knows by now that the Boltons are the wardens of the North, the Freys controlled River Run and only took it with a token force through the Blackfish’s cleverness, and now every soldier the Blackfish could find is in that castle. Obviously the Freys weren’t afraid of any Tully allies breaking the seige.
He knows enough to know that his uncle is going to make the Freys pay for their castle.
Or, ideally, a new episode NOT to complain about. It’s not like we’re all hatewatching GoT and then gleefully heading to the SDMB to see who can outdo each other in nitpickery…
I was kidding-- I have high hopes for the Battle of the Bastards. Typically, the 9th episode each season has been very good. This one is directed by the same guy who directed the excellent “Hardhome” last season (the eighth episode, where the White Walkers’ army attacks the wildlings), so I think that bodes well.
