Game of Thrones 7.07 "The Dragon and the Wolf" 8/27/17

Character interaction?

Yeah, but where’s Baldrick?

Anyway, it kind of bothers me a bit that they dropped Robyn. Sure Edmure featured before, but he’s kind of not that relevant. If he’s still a lord, and that might not be true, because who decides, and house Frey might have female rulers at Winterfell and the Twins. Robyn however, did he wander off somewhere about the Riverlands to lick a tree or something, or is he milkie milkie somewhere in Winterfell?

Robert’s whoring and drinking being a result of his being worn down by the loss of Lyanna, being in a loveless marriage, and being King all are myths. He was a womanizer even before Lyanna died. Lyanna didn’t want to marry him because she knew he wouldn’t stay loyal to her.

Are you sure? Did you look closely?

I am thinking that Tyrion made a deal with Cersei to make her child Danery’s heir.

When last we saw him Robin* was living at Lord Royce’s castle in the Vale. Presumably he is still there. There would be no reason for him to go to Winterfell or the Riverlands.

  • To my surprise, on checking I find that his name is actually spelled in the normal fashion rather than by throwing in a random “y” somewhere as GoT generally does.

Ooo. Intriguing. Seems unlikely, but intriguing.

Really? In which episode do we learn Lyanna’s opinion of Robert?

What?

I’m sure that if Dany found out Tyrion had made a deal like that behind her back he would end up as another one of her eunuch advisors, if she didn’t decide to shorten his height even more.

And who is more stupid in that scenario? Tyrion for believing that he could either make such a deal or make his sister believe in it? Or Cersei for either believing in it or expecting Tyrion to think she bought into it?

Also, “Tyrion making a deal with Cersei to make her child Danery’s heir” is only relevant if they’re planning for the possibility of Cersei losing the great game to Dany. I really don’t think Cersei ever considers that a possibility.

I’ve always suspected that people see my username and skip right over. Now I know.

In her mind, you either win the game of thrones or you die. That may even be a direct quote. I’m sure she considers the possibility that she could lose. The issue is not that she doesn’t see any other option besides victory. It’s that she believes any option other than total victory leads to her death. She will view any deal with Dany as Dany consolidating her position until Dany kills her because if the situations were reversed, that’s what she would do.

Brienne? Is that you?

Maybe. I got ignored lots too. Unless I’m dishing some dirt on prison life or weird medical stories, at least. Even then sometimes.

Do you get skipped over more than the average doper, that’s the question!

And regarding being ignored, I noticed that this thread moved very fast in the first few days after the episode aired. Many posts came and went without being commented upon.

Eh, I’ve been here long enough with enough zero response threads and such to know there is no rhyme or reason to what gets attention and what doesn’t. I was just struck by the sound beat-back Orsis got. There seems to be some strong feeling about this theory. Maybe Jon’s super sperm made my claim more reasonable.

Or maybe nobody pays me any mind. Except if I spell a character’s name wrong or use the second preferred version of an idiom. THEN people notice!

I love this person’s work. Nothing better than fun GoT snark with screen caps.

I confess, it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out the “Kelly C.” reference–I thought it was some pop culture thing I was missing until I said it out loud in Jorah’s voice and realized it was a sorta-malapropism.

The “promotional pictures for our band” got me going, but Jon: “Thank you. I work out by running head first into danger with literally no plan.” was my favorite.

(Not to mention Sansa: "We’ve decided this Winterfell subplot has to end with you dead. Otherwise, what the Seven Hells else are we doing here? Brann: “That’s so Three-Eyed Raven”, amongst others.)

I kept expecting, though, for someone to ask why Tyrion was wearing armor constructed from nubby silicon oven mitts. I guess it might help in case of friendly dragon fire?

Thank you. That one had me  too.
