Game of Thrones, Fire and Blood, 6/19/11

Do we know yet if Dick Cheney will have as big a role on screen as he did in the book?

Talking about the you-know-what is a spoiler for the second book and we’re still in an episode thread…

Am I a bad person if I watched that mashup [del]two[/del] three times, and chuckled audibly?

Dammit, five times.

I’m with you on that one. That’s the only battle that stood out in my mind in the whole series; I am just that much of a ‘Cliff Notes, please!’ person regarding battles. But that one…yep. They have to do it. I hope they do it right

That was WONDERFUL.

I so wanna do Dinklage. He’s incredibly hot, dwarfism notwithstanding.

I hope the kid playing Joffrey doesn’t get too much grief in real life. It’s amazing how much hatred that character has already been able to generate.

Is anyone surprised that they omitted large battle scenes in the series? It’s what I expected and they did the same thing in Rome as well. And it’s the right choice given the tight budget of a TV show. I would imagine a single big battle with about 20 minutes screen time would cost as much as several episodes. I do hope they get more money in the second season but my priority would still be dragons and direwolves above battles .

What the hell. Let’s add three more.

He already had a cameo this season as Dany’s baby.

Oh, come now. It could have been any bald, scaly-skinned, maggot-infested horror.

Two for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Moderator’s Note:

I know a lot of people are marking this as the end of the current season and so are feeling free to talk about everything that’s happened and everything that will happen, but please refrain from bringing up content - even obliquely - that hasn’t been put on the screen yet in the episode threads. If someone wants to do a big “What we want from the next season” thread, that’d be a far better place for it. We’ve had a lot of people say they’ve been happy about having been unspoilt and we’d all like to keep it this way.

I’m not sure if this counts as a spoiler but the producers have confirmed that Dick Cheney will not be in any episode next season.

Oh, man! You just HAD to go and tell us that, didn’t you?

:: shakes fist ::

Maybe season three.

I am honestly confused by these statements. Where in the show has it ever been shown that Jaime is ashamed of either of those things? I’m certainly not seeing it - if anything, he’s proud.

Pushing Bran out of the window was a rather large indicator that fucking his sister wasn’t something he was proud of.

Well, to be fair, if Bran had told anyone at the time Jaimie and Cersei would both have been killed. And the kids too probably. I chalked that up to self preservation more than shame.

It had noohing to do with pride. Having sex with your King’s wife is treason and if it had come out, they would both have been executed, along with their bastard children. He tried to kill Bran to save their necks.

When it comes to killing Aerys, I don’t think Jaime is ashamed. I DO think he is resigned to (and disgusted by) the fact that everyone in the seven kingdoms reviles him for killing Aerys - and killing Aerys was probably the best thing he’s ever done (and likely will do) in his life.
