They cast Dontos and it looks like they’re going to cut him out of the Sansa escape (maybe?)
They cast the Green siblings and we haven’t even seen them yet.
ACK!!! AWOIAF is hitting a 404 error!
Withdrawal symptoms building. . .
No, there’s definitely something in the books that hint at something . . . I think Mandon Moore is actually from the Vale, and it was hinted that a lot of the people from the Vale are actually Littlefinger’s people, since he worked for Jon Arryn before Arryn became Hand and came to King’s Landing.
The Others looked like something out of Bodyworlds. Isn’t there a story about how a Stark once shagged an Other because she was so beautiful?
It’s up now, but maybe it was hiding from The Others earlier.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Dontos is around next season. Some people seem to think that Littlefinger’s promise to help Sansa edges him out, but I think it’ll be like the books: Littlefinger will “rescue” Sansa by helping Dontos get her out.
Well, the the Kettleblack brothers are from the Vale, and their father works for Littlefinger, so presumably they do as well.
But you’re also right about Mandon Moore. According to the wiki Moore is also from the Vale.
I wouldn’t necessarily rule out Littlefinger as being behind Moore’s attempt on Tyrion. But I wouldn’t rule out Cersei either. Hell, maybe it was Varys. He killed Kevan Lannister because he wanted to get rid of competent rulers to pave the way for Young Griff. Maybe he went after Tyrion for the same reason.
I know the Kettleblacks work for Littlefinger; I just meant that I wasn’t thinking about them
I doubt Varys would have killed Tyrion via Moore. If he had wanted Tyrion dead, no doubt he would have chosen a more certain way.
When I read posts like these in the non-spoiler thread:
I just can’t help but think,
“Just wait…just wait…”
God, I know it’s evil of me, but I just cannot wait to see everyone’s reaction when The Red Wedding airs. I just hope HBO doesn’t fuck it up (all signs indicate that since Storm of Swords is two seasons, The Red Wedding will be either the last episode, or second-to-last of season 3.
The book foreshadowed it a little too much…with Catelyn saying on the march there “make sure to ask for bread, salt, and wine so we’re guests and have guests’ rights!” and then her blurting out “Wine! We need bread, salt, and wine, My Lord!” when they arrived.
Also, they should, under no circumstances, call that episode “The Red Wedding.” Waaaaaaay too much of a giveaway.
I tend to be a huge lurker (I haven’t posted since… when?), but I’ve been following that discussion on the non-book spoiler thread. I literally laughed out loud when Ellis Dee was complaining that we who said GRRM was ruthless about killing main characters are being ridiculous. The show-only folks don’t realize that sentiment is directly related to Book 3.
On that list, what 5 have been killed (though Catelyn came back and Jon may) in addition to Tywin. And the Hound may be dead, but there is, of course, the speculation that he’s still around.
As for calling the episode: The Red Wedding, I guess people may think the Lannisters will crash it.
It’s not just the characters who are killed–but the characters who are horribly damaged although they still live. Or, sort of live…
Never thought I’d feel bad for Theon after what he did in book 2, but man…poor guy. ![]()
I normally hate replies like the one I’m about to make, but it’s the most accurate thing I can say to this…
+1
The episode that GRRM is writing next season has a working title of “Autumn Storms.”
And it’s the ninth episode. Great chance it’s the RW.
The show creators have said getting to film the Red Wedding was one of the main reasons they wanted to do the show, i doubt they will fuck it up. And the best, most chilling foreshadowing of the Red Wedding was Ser Ryman Frey saying “let’s go in, my father awaits” to Robb before they went in the Twins.
It was pointed out in an article somewhere that GoT seems to be following the format The Wire followed, with major shit going down in the penultimate episode of the season, and the last episode being used to tie up loose ends and set up cliffhangers and plot lines for the following season.
When Robb was wedding whatshername in the final episode I said “Robb you stupid bastard” out loud and then my boyfriend was all “What’s so wrong about marrying the girl he loves?” I had to stuff my fist in my mouth to shut myself up.
Season Three is going to be so awesome.
All the people I talk to who haven’t read the books, all think that Robb’s decision to marry is going to come back and bite him in the ass. So I’m not so sure it’s going to come out of left field. Especially with all the talk like Ellis Dee. Otherwise the severity of their revenge might come as a surprise.
I am assuming that they believe it’ll result in some very uncomfortable negotiations with The Late Lord Frey. Possible involving Robb being sold out to the Lannisters or held hostage or something. I don’t think many are anticipating that the Freys are going to kill Robb and Cat.
So, yes, you are correct that the severity of the revenge will come as surprise, but how severe that revenge is will be a punch in the gut.
I think people may freak. I know I had to stop reading for about a week after The Red Wedding. I can’t begin to imagine how it would have affected me watching unfold on TV. Do you think they’ll show Robb’s desecration? Man, I don’t think I could watch.
