Game On! A Hockey Roadtrip MMP

Mmmmm. Stew.

I play private detective when I find a cell, but only after reading all the texts and scanning the pictures.

Ok, I’m off - full day of errands, so I took the day off.

One doc to see about my ear bumpy thingees, my therapist Stephanie then the car’s 75K service.
fun fun fun…

Imagine what would happen if the Graveyard of the Atlantic didn’t take all the good out of the hurricanes we send your way. You’re welcome.

Smartie, you’re now the Official MMP Bad Girl. Wear your crown with pride!

FarmerChick, Willow is bee-you-tee-ful! (BTW, I just realized you’re the same person who had all the baby goats last year. Your turkey video is one of my favorites on YouTube.)

I need to go shopping today. Working myself up to it. (I should probably turn in my Girl License for saying that.)

THIS PROJECT IS NOT MY FAULT!
British food has gotten much better in the last few decades. They even sell olive oil at relatively affordable prices.

Back to trying not to show that I cba any more :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m so not motivated today. I seem to have re-caught whatever anti-work bug I had last week. Blah. I like my job. I do! I just don’t feel like doing it some days. Or weeks.

Amen, sister! Is it Thursday yet?

I used a 13 by 9, and it turned out fine. I don’t have a sheet cake pan either. It’s really just a basic butter cake, quite moist but not brownie-like. I didn’t have any icing sugar, so we made ganache instead. Mmmm.
Really, Muppet? I don’t remember that. Nice to know, though. I’m allergic to measuring except for cakes and a couple other finicky things. And stew is pretty hard to mess up. It generally turns okay out. I admit measuring would make it possible to reproduce the magic when it turns out really well, but I’m too stubborn to do it.

I fear you caught it from me…

Being a bad influence again… hee hee

delurks, adjusts tiara

Whew, so glad you guys aren’t mad at me–I’m a little mad at myself, I should know by now that my authority aversion can get me into deep kimchi…

I haz a headache this morning and it’s not going away. Bleah…

Argh. Make my kid go to sleep, please.
One of our friends is a social worker, and he saw once a mother light a joint, inhale, cup her hands over her baby’s face, and exhale. He said it worked it a charm. Kid went right to sleep. He said they did take her kid away from her and put him in foster care, but whatever.

Posting from my Thermodynamics lecture. Blech, so much work to do, between Calc III, Dynamics, and Thermodynamics homework, and Physics homework, and reading for my elective course, and lectures themselves, I’m swamped. Thermo lecture runs 1:00 to 2:15 EST, then I’ll be doing Calc HW til my 4:00-5:15 Dynamics lecture, then more calc HW til my 6:30-8:20 Calc lecture. I hate partial derivatives. Should be finished Calc work by then, which means when I get back to my appartment at ~8:30 I can do Physics til midnight. Then tomorrow I have class from 10 to noon, and then there’ll be Dynamics and Thermo homework literally the whole rest of the day. Oh, and I suppose theoretically I should try to, y’know, eat. Blurf… Shoot me. All the HW is due Thursday, except Physics, which is prolly due tonight, I haven’t checked.

Ivory - Stop spreading the Lazy Bug. I caught it too, at the worst possible time.

Dotty - No, it is NOT Thursday. It can’t be thursday, I still have work to do.

Nava - Well no wonder. Olive oil is its own food group and is fundamental do decent eating.

Taxi, Rebo - Is Ambien prescription pill? I could use something to help me sleep, I’m getting real tired of laying in bed awake from midnight to 3AM or later.

Mahna - My friends and I refer to that as “The Ass-Crack of Dawn” and do so with the level of fear and disgust typically reserved for neo-Nazis and the Ebola virus. Other nicknames for that time period include “Stupid o’clock AM” and “Oh-God-Thirty”; thank god I have no classes before 10AM and thus never have to be up at such an unholy hour.

Vunderbob - SHOTGUN! Drive fast, play the music loud, and keep the window down so I can stick my head out!

Farmer - I read the post; that is… Odd. However, you have done nothing wrong, and you deserve the horsie. Don’t let them get to you - I’m sure Willow will be happier with someone who can properly care for and ride her anyway!

Swampy - I’ll PM you a pic after this weekend, at which point Kitty should be finished decorating me - still gotta put in three more studs and (possibly) two rings. We’re getting together Saturday so she can do those for me, but as cuddly as we both are, there’s no guarantee we won’t get “distracted” and run out of time.

Again. :smack:

BooFae - Don’t mind the lost three hours. I’ve wasted far greater quantities of time n far less productive/social activities on more than one occasion.

{{{MMP and Pie}}}

LiLi, who needs frosting when you can have ganache? Om nom! You make a good point about be able to reproduce a tasty creation. My BBQ sauce is recreated thusly: always using the same bowl: about that big of a glurp of ketchup, a splodge this big of molasses, a wee pile of chili powder… :stuck_out_tongue:

TerraHen, your turkeys gobblegobble in answer to your whistle! Who knew? Thanks for that link, Spaz. (Sassy hair by BTW…love the colour very much.)

De nada, Smartie. It’s nothing. (IMO) Try some shoulder shrugs for your headache. You’re probably just not used to the weight of the tiara.

Bobbio: Belated congrats on your son’s 21st.

Yes, it is a prescription.

LiLi, it wasn’t so much a “sit down and let me teach you to make stew”, but rather one of those “hey, we’re starving so let’s all pile into the kitchen and cook something” that tended to happen a lot at your house. (your house was awesome… right down to the mismatched cutlery and the dog fur on the carpets)

Moonie, I’m adopting “Oh-God-Thirty” going forward. I hope you’re not expecting royalties, though.

I miss my student days… it was nice not having to be anywhere until 11am (which is when most of my classes started, since us philosophers couldn’t be expected to do anything productive before then) and shuffling to lectures in a ratty t-shirt and pyjama pants (wish I could still do that with work, but our dress code forbids pyjamas for some odd reason).

taxi, sing it, sister. I’ve had the anti-work bug for weeks now. Can’t seem to shake it… I’m spending more time here than I am doing anything remotely productive, unfortunately.

However, I did get to stir a big giant cauldron of trouble this morning… 'twas most satisfactory.

Home with mildly upset tummy. Ick. I’m hoping to be able to fall asleep and feel better later.

Hugs.

GT

Blurf indeed. We have a Freezing Rain warning, and although I have water aerobics * tonight I may chicken out. It’s a very bad piece of road when the conditions are icy, and we get out after dark, and I just don’t think I wanna take the chance.

My head is not awake, must forage for caffeine and a banana. Laterz.

*Henceforth to be referred to as w.a.

Is it Firday yet?!

LiLi - - my first reaction, then ;)! Something to make you think long and hard before you actually contemplate a second kid, eh? G’nat is a real cutie, though.

As I suspected, there was plenty of ice (and very cold temps!) along the way to work this morning. And that was leaving after sunrise, when I could actually see where I was going. Now I’m ready to go home.

Very pretty snow pics, btw, FCM–hope you all made it to and from work safe and sound today. Feel better thoughts being sent to GT!

Hugs and/or trout slaps, as appropriate. LOL Except for Swampy - I dunno what he deserves. Huh, maybe some appreciating from ACBG?! Make sure you tell him I said that too now.

Ah, yes- it was one of those sessions that produced Bacon Spaghetti. That was awesome. And yeah, my house was great, especially the way my parents would wave genially as they ran away from the twelve teenagers that had just arrived.

Mom told me recently that we had the very tamest teenage parties ever, and she was so grateful.
Nat’s really cute. That why I didn’t toss him out today before he went to sleep, when he was hitting, having mini-tantrums, and trying to remove Aerin’s legs. Sigh. I should get him up. Convince me that I need to, okay?

Thanks a LOT. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup, so I’m still here trying to do a little work every few minutes and rewarding myself with a few minutes on the internet. I’m making a little progress this way, but it’d be a lot better if I could focus.

Thanks for reminding me of what I don’t miss about college. Somehow post-college those memories fade and you’re left remembering all the fun stuff and not so much of the stress, homework, exams, etc. Nice to be reminded once in a while that college sucks a lot more than Real Life. At least I get paid in Real Life.

Re: Ambien
Yes, it’s a prescription, but there is a generic so if you’ve got insurance with cheap copays for generic, you’re all set. And/or I think Target and Walmart have it on their cheap generic list. Check it out. Also, if you haven’t tried melatonin, you might try that. It’s an over-the-counter, herbal sleep aid (usually in pill form in the vitamin section or the natural foods section). That usually works for me unless I’m really having problems sleeping. I find that neither Ambien or melatonin cause grogginess the next day, which is a big plus.

Thanks for the info on the cake, LiLi. I didn’t know if it’d work in a 13x9 but now that I know it does, I’ll have to try it this weekend! Chocolate cake… nom nom.

I just got back my first Dynamics exam.

I studied. And we were allowed to have an entire front side of an 8.5 by 11 inch sheet of paper for notes.

And just in case this day was not already overflowing with joy and wonder, I get a Calc III test back next class.

Enginering schools need to hang giant “Abandon Hope, All Ye who Enter Here” banners at their main enterances.

Update: Class average on aforementioned Dynamics exam was a 45. High was an 83. That is the worst showing I have EVER seen on any exam ever.
