As some of you may know, Sci-Fi recently acquired Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda. Do you think Sci-Fi can do what it did with Stargate SG-1. That is make it somewhat popular like SG-1? Or do you think this will be a big flop?
Personally I kinda like Andromeda. I saw a couple of episodes from before it came to Sci-Fi and I thought it wasn’t half bad. I think since it’s now on Sci-Fi it will probably end up with a bigger budget and hopefully gain a bigger fan base.
Does it bug anyone else that Sci-Fi calls Andromeda and SG-1 “Sci-Fi Original Series”? SG-1 was NOT originally on Sc-Fi and neither was Andromeda.
Personally, i haven’t watched sci-fi channel since they cancelled Farscape, i wouldn’t trust the skiffy channel too much, once Andromeda gets popular enough, they’ll cancel it at the height of it’s popularity…
i’m surprised they haven’t cancelled Stargate, after all, it’s a popular show, and skiffy has a tendency to axe popular shows in the middle of their runs
(no, i’m not bitter )
i was actually amazed to hear that skiffy finally canceled that stupid “crossing over” show, a show that was clearly fiction, but had nothing to do with science fiction
I watched the first couple of seasons of Andromeda. At first I kinda liked it- sure, they play fast-n-loose with the science, but it did have a sense of fun I rather liked.
Plus it had Lexa Doig (Rommie) and Laura Bertram (Trance). Lexa Doig. Oh my freakin’ god.
Then, I think it was in season three…
… they decided to change a few things. Rommie became more, uh, “anime”. Trance lost her tail, turned gold, and became decidedly uncute. According to an article I read, it was to make them more appealing to the fanboys. Bleh.
About that time I lost interest. I watched the rest of that season, and then gave up.
Aren’t there a zillion channels that show Andromeda already?
Each weekend I have my choice of 5 different channels - some of them even showing different episodes.
