Hmmm… that might have been the better poll.
In the shower and I’ll share a tip to prevent the mirror fogging up that I learned here on the Dope. When I start my shower I work up some lather from the soap and wipe it on the mirror but do not rinse it yet. I continue with my shower and when I am ready to shave I rinse the soap off the mirror. Now it will stay fog free for at least several minutes, which is usually all I need to finish shaving.
Seriously?
I have to shave at the sink. I need to see what I’m doing, and there’s no way I could do that in the shower in a glasses-off situation.
Exactly. I’d come out looking like I lost a battle with a porcupine.
96% of the time, at the sink.
When I have time, at the vanity table, with a bowl. (Hot towels want a chair.)
Would never think of doing it anywhere but the sink. Need mirror and bright light to make sure its done right.
I don’t understand how “steam” makes a difference.
A few times I’ve tried shaving in the shower and everything about it was worse: missed areas, more cuts, not as close, and longer time.
Am I the Bizarro shower-shaver?
I shave in the shower, squatting, with a mirror that I have given a swipe with my shaving foam and rinsed off. Works well.
I miss shaving with my straight razor, and that is ALWAYS the sink, as one needs a mirror, good lighting, and dry hands to do it without Sweeney Todding oneself.
Why squatting?
Feel free!
I kinda squat down in the far end of the shower, with the curtain peeled back. That way, it takes a bit for the mirror to fog up.
I probably look like an idiot when I do it, but it’s not like I have company ever. hehe
I shave at the sink so I can look in the mirror, but my preference is to then immediately get in the shower to rinse (having rinsed the hair out of the sink, of course). Seems the best compromise to me.
Most days I shave in the car with my electric shaver. If I am going to a social function where I want to look as well-groomed as possible, I will shave at the sink with shaving cream and a disposable razor.
I usually shave at the sink unless the Mrs is showering with me. Then she shaves me before we start having a lil fun in the shower.
I have shaved by “feel” for a good many years.
Shower. I have really sensitive skin, and the extra softening of my beard that all the hot water and steam provide helps avoid nicks. No mirror; I’m blind as a bat, and my beard is fair, so I’d be working by feel no matter where I was.
No.
I have a mirror in the shower. It doesn’t fog up too badly since I just shower with the door open.
My skin is also very sensitive, so shaving in the shower is much more comfortable.
Since I shave my head as well, the best place to do it is kneeling over the edge of the tub. I have a little round mirror that I place in the bottom of the tub which gives me a good view.
I use a hybrid method. Shower most of the way, then go to the sink to shave, then go back to the shower to finish off. It’s the best of both worlds for me.
Car, going to work.
Braun electric.
