George Harrison news

OK. Anybody got any CREDIBLE information about George Harrison passing, aside from the Tom Leykis show.

What? When did you hear this? I’m not finding anything on CNN.

Well, all I kind find at the moment is an abcnews.com report that he’s in a Staten Island hospital for cancer treatment.

Oh Jesus Christ, please don’t scare me like that. Jesus Christ…
According to abcnews.com

Bolding mine.

Jesus.

:frowning:

while it is sad, no need to involve Jesus’ name. George is just a man, like us all. We all have to die sometime, you know?

I’m certain I’ll get blasted for that.

You seem kinda new, so unless you’ve been lurking for a while, you probably don’t realize that pepperlandgirl is a huge Beatle fan.

Seeing an OP mentioning Harrison’s passing probably came as an incredible shock. I’m sure she realizes he’s just a man, but it’s still going to be sad news for many of us when he does pass, and was posting out of shock and relief at finding out he’s still undergoing treatment.

I don’t mean to speak for pepperlandgirl, but that’s my take on it.

Well, with a name like pepperland, that should be a clue.

But yes, it is sad. He’s not that old, either.

Oh well. Perhaps he and John will be entertaining the Big Guy somewhere…

:frowning:

Thank you Crunchy Frog. I was just minding my own business, lurking through some threads, when I see this.
George is just a man, but he’s one of my favorite men. And while I’m aware that we all must die some time, I really mourn the fact that he’s dying from such a painful, slow disease. :frowning:

Hey, I love the Beatles too and my first reaction to seeing this was pretty much the same as yours. I’ve got whatever I can find on CD and A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, and Yellow Submarine on video. I can’t find Let It Be anywhere though.

I’m not terribly familiar with all of the Beatles’ works, but what I heard, I liked. Harrison seems like a cool guy. This is really sad news.

:frowning:

Crunchy, I can’t find Let It Be either. A few years ago I heard that they were going to re-release Let it be, both the movie and the album. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case.
I used ot have A Had Day’s Night, HELP!, Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine, The Beatles Anthology, You Can’t do That-The Making of a Hard Day’s Night, The Beatles First U.S. Visit, and The Compleat Beatles. Unfortunately, when I moved, the movies did not move with me. :frowning:

As I was leaving my bank in Manhattan a man who was coming in held the door for me. He looked familiar, but it took me a moment to realize why. It was George Harrison! The only sparkling repartee that came to mind in that split second was “Hi George. So, are you dying or what?” Needless to say, I decided to spare him.

This happened 2 days before the Concert for NYC so I thought he might be making a surprise appearance there with Paul. Unfortunately he didn’t. I found out later he was getting stereotactic radiation treatments at the Staten Island hospital.

His skin looked a little grey and his hair was sort of messy, but he didn’t look like he was circling the drain.

Wish my brain hadn’t spasmed. I would have loved to talk to him.

I know a way that certain posters to this thread can get a VHS copy of “Let It Be,” if any of them are interested in e-mailing me.

Leykis?
I hope he didn’t just.

I can’t find anything. Anybody have any credible information?

George is the best. Never succumbed to maudlin sentimentality and the publishing/composing of awful poetry and symphonies like his friend BeatlePaul. Probably would take an offered knighthood and tell 'em to get stuffed. Wouldn’t get caught in a Beatle reunion for anything. A keen gardener. Great sense of humor and self-deprecation (www.allthingsmustpass.com). Provided the world with Monty Python films. “Wonderwall.” God bless & get well.

I forgot about this. Me! A Python and Beatle fan! I don’t know if he had anything to do with The Holy Grail, but IIRC if not for George, the world would not have gotten The Life of Brian, the Python’s best, most cohesive film that was funny and actually had a message to boot.

Indeed, funding problems for “Life of Brian” led to the creation of Handmade Films, headed up by Harrison and Dennis O’Brien. Harrison’s film credits as producer include:

Time Bandits
A Private Function
Bellman and True
Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrells
The Long Good Friday
The Missionary
The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne
