George has died

Just saw the scrolling test on tv that George Harrison has died in L.A. I guess the reports I read here about his condition being grave were true.

R.I.P, George.
I particularly like “Here Comes the Sun”. That was George’s. I know this will turn into the tribute and anecdote thread. Go for it.

And now, there are only two … :frowning:

<no words, just sadness>

George Harrison.

::absolutely bawling:: …

A friend of mine just posted somthing on another messageboard which pretty much sums up my feelings. “As the world gently weeps…”

:frowning:

All things must pass, folks. :frowning:

I know it’s the middle of the night in the US and only 9 pm here, but I can’t be the only person on the planet who is playing all those great riffs at top volume.

I always loved Blue Jay Way.
RIP George - its good to know that there is so much of him that can keep on going. We will always have the music.
What a year eh?

I don’t think anyone on the messageboard even picked George Harrison in the Celebrity Death Pool. :frowning:

So many good songs. Thank you George. You are gone too soon.

Listening to Something right now. That song alone would secure him a place in music history. Thankfully he wrote so many more. The world is truly a richer place for the existence of George Harrison.

I don’t get upset when celebrities die - really I don’t. We’ve all known this one was coming for a long time. Why do I feel that the world is a little poorer right now?

Damn it. 58 it too young for people like George.

R.I.P George. See you on the other side.

Such a sad loss. Sleep well, George.

It sounds like he went out surrounded by loved ones, in a home instead of a hospital bed. I guess none of us could ask more than that.

I’m ripping Abbey Road as we speak… and listening to Traveling Wilburys.

Hmm - the re-release of All Things Must Pass seems quite appropriate.

John and George both died while the sun was in Sagitarius, and while NYC was having unseasonably high temperatures. I don’t know what the odds are or what it means, but Paul and Ringo better be very careful next time this happens.

I feel very very sad and very very old. George was my first celebrity crush. I wanted to marry him.

Oh, well, at least poor old Rachel Gurney got her obits out of the way first . . . Always thought George was the least egomaniacal—and cutest—of the Beatles (my sister was a “Paul girl”).

Too sad—58 really is too young.

I was never a big fan of the Beatles, particularly when I was very young, growing up in the late sixties and early seventies. So I was shocked, but not particularly saddened at the news about John’s murder. How was it any more significant than the shooting deaths which take place all too often in our country, and yet which go unnoticed?

Only in the last few years have I begun to really appreciate The Beatles’ music, how rich and important it really was, and how much they contributed to human life. I have come to be very grateful for their gift to us all.

I feel now that a warm light has gone out of the world, one that brightened millions of lives, and my heart is heavy.

What a sad season this has been; terror, war, and one of our great voices falling silent.

Goodbye, George. And thank you.

I usually don’t feel this way with “celebrities”, but when I woke up and heard it, it was like a death of someone close.

George may have been in John and Paul’s shadow, but if you line up all of George’s Beatles songs and play them…you have a collection better than the “greatest hits” of most other bands.

“Think For Yourself” and his other songs from Rubber Soul and Revolver are all overlooked classics…
