As someone who hated Bush as a president, my only comment is that people who get bent out of shape over how a 70 year old man behaves at a memorial service are weird.

I’m not super-worked-up, but at the same time he’s more than just a 70-year-old man. Any random geezer wouldn’t be invited to stand up there next to the president. He was invited up there in deference to his specific political role, and the role of him and the Obamas was to express the nation’s grief at these deaths.

I don’t think Bush was deliberately fucking up that role, because upfuckery comes so naturally to him. However, it was pretty remarkable to see how poorly he performed his role.
