It’s one exit before. Heading North out of the city on 85, you’ll hit spaghetti junction (Pleasantdale being intertwined with that), then Jimmy Carter,
then Indian Trail,
then Beaver Ruin,
then Steve Reynolds (D&B exit),
then Pleasant Hill (Gw Place Mall exit).
I have always had a fond place in my heart for Beaver Ruin Road!
I want LabDad to write a blues tune about it!
Dreamin’, right?
Q
Actually, yes! It’s pretty easy for me to spend all day browsing through a bookstore ( especially the unique ones). Thanks for all the help.
What on EARTH could they have been thinking when they named it? :smack:
Well, hmmmmm. Maybe we had beavers there at one time and someone came up with an ingeninious way of getting rid of the little bastards?
Or maybe it was the site of a house of ill repute that got shut down?
Personally, I like number 2 the best!
Q
Beaver Ruin? Five Tricks Forkum? er, Five Forks Trickum? Everything named Peachtree ______________. Land developers in Atlanta sure are creative. <<insert rolling eyes>>
Anyway, we have a new bookstore that seems used in Roswell that serves coffee, supplies comfy chairs and is housed in one of the old houses in the historic area. Sip & Look? Read & Slurp? Grounds & Bounds? Browes & Brews? Coffee, Tea or Doestevesky? I can’t remember but I’ll look if you are interested.
Georgia Dopefest this weekend at 7pm in Duluth D&B, right?
No! Not right. It’s on the 23rd, but you got the location and site correct. Hope to still see you there, Terrorcotta!
Q
Will someone kindly whop me upside da head? “Location and site”, right, Q, you idjit! I meant time and site!
Quasi
Coffee buy the book. Ryujin and I just stopped in there yesterday. It’s a nice place. looks like a regular house, just filled to the brim with new and used books.
Don’t forget Ho Hum Hollow Road. Guess the trickums weren’t that good.
Hey Terrorcotta, got an address for that bookstore? Or a phone number? I’d love to check it out. Thanks for the tip.
Has anyone given any thought to how we all will find one another at the Dopefest? I can just picture a bunch of folks wandering around D&B calling, “Quasimodem? Labdad? Hello? Is there a mouthbreather in the house?”
I will be wearing a t-shirt with ** QUASIMODEM** emblazoned across the front and Q across the back.
That should make me easy to find. As for Labdad, just look for a guy who looks like he should be a fantastic picker ('cause he is). And in the case of mouthbreather, you’ll have to use your imagination, I’m afraid!
Q
I’ll paste the description I used when we had the last ATL dope fest on how to find gooti and me:
SMV- Morelin got it right, it’s Coffee Buy the Book and it’s on Canton Road in the heart of Roswell. (Sure, I didn’t really think it was ‘Bounds & Brews’…)
Thanks for the reminder to LOOK at the calendar. I have so much going on this month I am in real danger of showing up at dopefest with a baby shower gift, my MIL’s birthday with a 6 pack and DragonCon with a recumbent bike.
Thanks all!
I’ll be the incredibly handsome man with beautiful women clinging to me. My pants will probably have been torn off within seconds of entering the establishment but I’ll try to keep myself decently covered. If not, I will also be the guy with the enormous member. Thank you.
Okay, so I’ll just find Quasimodem and hope for the best. How about a little advice on etiquette? This is the first online community I’ve ever participated in - I just got my computer a few months ago; hence, “slowmovingvehicle” - so I’ve never been to a function like this. Do I introduce myself by my real name or my SDMB name: "Hi, I’m slowmovingvehicle, but my friends just call me ‘slow’ "? How should I respond if mouthbreather dryhumps me? Should I be offended if he doesn’t call me the next day? Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks.
I’m enjoying the hell out of all this, by the way.
“How should I respond if mouthbreather dryhumps me?”
Just lay there and don’t move. If he doesn’t get a response from you he will assume you have swooned from a fit of passion and he will move on to his next lucky partner.
Okay, but will you send me flowers the next day?
That part of my post was obviously a joke, but the rest wasn’t. I am curious about the name stuff.
** Ryujin** and I bough tthose “hello my name is …” nametags. We’ll be labeled, but I don’t know about anyone else.
Just find me and I will act as the unofficial host and introduce everyone. My real name is Bill, BTW. We’ll get there a bit early, so as to be sure to be on hand.
Q
'Hi, Bill."
