Get creative with Thing-a-Day 2009

Freckafree, I love your bracelet, and thanks! Is that peyote stitch? I like the wavy effect.

The bad day earrings, and other projects I did like them, were the most fun I’ve had with alphabet beads in ages. I made a few others in that series.

I like to work with wire a lot.

Maybe next year we can do this in April, so walking doesn’t involve all the snow and ice.

I like the idea of this but my “sort of” resolution for myself is not to set unrealistic goals and set myself up to fail. If I were a little more organized right now I’d try it anyway, but I think I need a few more ducks in my row before I would be able to do this. But I think I will follow along for inspiration and encourage myself to try one creative thing a month. I may plug it in my LJ too, because I think there are a couple people there who might want to join.

Ooh ooh… I’m on this one like a fat kid on a smartie!

I’ve been slacking on posting new recipes on my blog, actually, so I think I’ll make my challenge a blog post per day. Maybe that’ll be the kick in the pants I need to get back into the habit of updating the blog regularly (as opposed to once every 4-5 weeks, which seems to be as “regularly” as I can manage lately).

I think a recipe a day might be a little bit ambitious, though, so we’ll just go with a post a day with some sort of cooking/food/recipe connection. Can’t wait for the 26th! Yay!

I’m doing it. I had a blast last year, and the soaps I made last year were given to Mom, and she loved them.

I try to do all sorts of different things, so I’ve put together a list of what I want to do this year here: Error

Looking for quotes, eh? This is where I always start.

Registration is finally operational there. I’m registered as twickster.

I just signed up as LaughingLark, my Craftster username.

This is gonna be fun. Now, I just need to get rid of this cold and start brainstorming.

Does it need to be things entirely of your own creation, or can you make things from someone else’s patterns?

It can be whatever feels like creativity to you. There’s neither judge nor jury at the site.

That is one of the most gorgeous pieces of jewelry I’ve ever seen. Is it for sale? Are you taking bids? I LOVE it!

So, you just pick a thing you want to do every day and commit to it? Photography would be a good thing for me too. I have a bunch of expensive/time consuming habits that I could have some fun with. What do I have to do to sign up?

::blush::

KnitWit, I sent you a PM.

Click on the link, pick a username, give an email address.

I’m not creative enough to participate, but I registered to look at the stuff. How will it work? Email notification? Check in whenever I want?

Check in whenever you want. IIRC, there’s a main thread with everyone’s postings, or you can go to the list of participants, click on someone’s name, and see all of his or her postings as a separate thread.

I signed up! Now I just have to pick a hobby to engage in. I’m thinking I should pick something I don’t ALREADY do every day.

Today’s the last day to sign up, if anyone is still dithering. Remember – no penalty, no judgment if you don’t do it, so there isn’t a huge downside.

Hooray! Almost time to start! I have no idea what my project for tomorrow will be yet. I’m just gonna go with it and see what happens. I’m hoping to try a variety of different things throughout the month.

I’m really hoping more Dopers will sign up today.

I signed up! My username is pidge.

I just posted my first thing, a beaded suncatcher.

I can’t wait to see what y’all are up to.
