Get Out Of My Head, Accurs'd Song!

Gah! Due to constant exposure to music seeping under my sister’s door, I have “Jenny From The Block” rattling around in my head like a tiny, drunken monkey.

Curse you, brain! Maybe this icepick will teach you a lesson…

Cool! Let’s see if it works-----

Okay, let’s try it again----

ooohhh Minor Irritant, I agree with you! ARGH! I HATE that damn “Jenny from The Block” song!

I cannot understand why people think she is so talented! Have I missed something?!

Months ago Fark.com ran a list of headlines from various news sources that could be sung to the tune of "Camptown Races’. By far the funniest and stickiest was “Man In Wheelchair Killed By Train” - doo-dah, doo dah… I catch myself singing it all the time.

And for some strange reason, lately when I vacuum I start singing “Hitler has only got one ball,” and I can’t get it to go away. Weird.

I’ve been mentally working on our end-of-year “roast” night, and I’m working on a song called “A Doctor at the Moses Cone” (to the tune of “Cover of the Rolling Stone”). (Moses Cone is the name of my hospital.) This has, unfortunately, become stuck in my head.

Dammit.

Thanks a lot, bunnymom. The Hitler song always goes through my head for days once I think of it.

Yesterday I made the mistake of going to the grocery store and had to live with “Have yourself a merry little Christmas” for the rest of the day. I hate 20th century carols.

I hate this song, but it’s on tv all the time!!! “Jenny from the block”… DAMN!!! AAARGHHH!!! GET OOOUUUUUUUTTT!!

“I run so far away, and I run I run so far away…gotta get away”
Duran Duran

saw the Grand Theft Auto Vice City commercial and cant get it out of my blasted head

ahem

For the last week, I have had bits of Tom Lehrer’s song about the Periodic Table of Elements (sung to the tune of “I am the very model of a modern major general”) careening randomly around my hapless brain. I don’t dare type out any of it. No…I do NOT.

[sub]Help me…pleeeeeeease![/sub]

flood, I think that’s Flock of Seagulls.

For me it’s the Lexx theme… “Yo, way oh…”

Did you know the theme to the old Spiderman TV show goes well to the music from “Eidelweiss?”

Spiderman,
Eidelweiss,
Does whatever a spider can.

Try it.

I find that loudly singing tom Jones’ “What’s New, Pussycat,” replete with “who-o-o-o-h” action, will usually knock all other songs out of my head. Surprisingly, Pussycat won’t linger in the vaccum created.

NE Texan: You’re right - it’s A Flock of Seagulls who did “I Ran” (not “run”).

As for the song currently stuck in my head: “Aerials” - System of a Down. Good song, at least.

A few weeks ago, however, I had to watch Kenneth Branagh’s version of “Henry V” & subsequently got “Henry the Eighth” by, I think, Herman’s Hermits stuck in my head for the afternoon & evening. I wasn’t even alive when that damn song came out!

MY GOD! You’re right!

My son has been singing “Spiderman” all week, so “Spidey-Eidelweiss” slipped effortlessly into my head, dammit!

IIRC, Amazing Grace can be sung to the tune of Yellow Rose of Texas. evil grin

25-30 years ago I had a teacher who let us bring in records and play them at lunch. There are two songs people used to play that are STILL stuck in my head, although I haven’t heard them since. One contained the lines"Listen to my heart pound/Listen to my love sound." The other was about a boy (Joey?) who was being chased by a shotgun wielding father while the daughter sang “Daddy please don’t. It wasn’t his fault. He meeeeans so much to me…”

I’d rather hear even Amazing Grace, but I can’t make it fit Yellow Rose of Texas. Maybe you know another version?

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun here too. :frowning: But at least it’s red and tastes like chocolate!

Amazing grace does work.

Cool.
