Get Out Of My Head, Accurs'd Song!

What’s worse than having a song stuck in your head is having two, that meet and produce a bastard offspring.

Do you know what “Lost in the Supermarket” (The Clash) and “Sometimes wanna die” (Joydrop)sound like together?

It sounds like this:

I’m lost in the supermarket
I can’t shop happily
I I I
I sometimes wanna die

Which makes for the most melodramatic reaction to a problem during a shopping trip ever.

There’s…antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium, and hydrogen and oxygen and nitrogen and rhenium…

[sub]hee, hee, hee[/sub]

I have had a christmas song stuck in my head for quite a while now. I hate (most) christmas songs. I only know a couple of lines to this particular song, which makes it even worse.
Yes, going around and around in a neverending loop for the past few days, has been “Well the weather outside is frightful, but the fires are so delightful, something something something, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.”
And I HATE snow, too. God, only a few more weeks.

Would you believe…“Deep in the Heart,” by Xymox?
That’s what I get for listening to 80s Alternative from Radio at AOL.

Right now I have THREE songs stuck in my head at once:

—that song on the radio (“he was a skater boy…” you know how that goes)
—another song by Slipknot (can’t remember the title)
—“Warning”, by Incubus

The result of that comes out sounding like:

he was a skater boy as in see you later boy
how the hell did I get here!
and he wasn’t right for her
as she called out a warning
don’t ever let life pass you
skater boy

Really wierd.

  1. Theme from South Park (only I don’t know all the words, so there’s a lot of “blh-blh-blh” in it;
  2. The “zoom zoom” song from the Mazda ads.

I find the old “Goobers and Raisinettes” ad to be a drastic but effective intervention–it reliably knocks all other songs out of my head.

Right now it’s Authority Zero’s One More Minute, but thanks to as_u_wish, it’s threatening to be It’s A Small World.

IThinkNot, your slipknot song is “Wait and Bleed.”

Whatever you do, do ** not ** think of “Sugar, Sugar” by the Archies.

Your first song is “Heartbeat, It’s a Love Beat” by Tony DeFranco and the DeFranco Family. The second is “Run, Joey, Run” and I’m not sure who that’s by.

My students made me go to this website and they come into class every day singing the song.

:frowning:

One more week till Christmas break!
