My immediate, knee-jerk response was that Kaitlyn had rather voluntarily chosen to deal herself out of any discussion involving straight men :dubious: , but I thought twice before saying so and reached the conclusion that, in Kaitlyn’s opinion, Kaitlyn never had been a man.
I struggle with this sometimes, but the plain fact of the matter is that any opinions I might entertain on the question of Kaitlyn’s gender identity aren’t the ones that count.
As for harping on about it: Cut Kaitlyn some slack. It’s early days yet, yanno.
FWIW, I agree with paulberserker. The IMHO thread specifically asked for a certain subset of the board to respond, and Kaitlyn flouncing in and demanding to be represented and “exercising her right to free speech” was just stupid and petty. If it was meant to be a joke, it was unfunny.
Kaitlyn has seemed pretty cool in pretty much every other thread I’ve seen her in, so this little hissyfit really drew my attention…and not in a good way.

I thought the rules of IMHO were “Answer the poll and get out,” not spam the poll with irrelevant snark. She basically hijacked your thread, and Priceguy assisted by pestering her with questions. They deserve to be pitted for rudeness, but not for the odd, shrill reasons you’re groping for, paulberserker.
Back atcha, feller. These days I’m shooting for “rabidly intolerant, but nice about it”.
To be fair, Kaitlyn now needs to start a thread about whether any lesbians would consider sleeping with men, and then I can barge in and self-importantly proclaim that I would not.
paul, if the OP doesn’t care, why do you? And I can’t say I’ve ever heard anything good accompany a “why don’t you just shut up about your sexual orientation/gender identity.”
I agree that ordinarily “Straight people! Respond please!” wouldn’t have been my first choice to post in, but Kaitlyn obviously felt she had something to contribute, having once considered herself straight anyway and being married to a woman who once considered herself so too, and the OP himself doesn’t consider it a hijack. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill, and choosing a fairly insulting way to phrase it, to boot.
Whats shrill about it? I’m more bothered by the fact I called Kaitlyn on pointless hijack in a poll ‘she’ shouldn’t be taking part in and ‘her’ and Priceguy turn round and talk absolute crap about what they said, when its clear neither can read each others posts.
Oh, and the constant need for ‘her’ to mention who and what ‘she’ is at any given opportunity gets on my tits.
I fully agree that Kaitlyn should not have posted in that thread. But lose the fucking quotation marks, OK? Kaitlyn is a woman, and there is no need to put quotation marks around the pronouns you use to reference her.
So do we come to the fact that someones sexuality is a no go area then? If, in every single post I mentioned, ‘Hey, i’m straight!’ or posted to a thread on ‘Gay people chine in here’, should I not get pitted? You don’t see me mention the fact i’m fucking ace at painting in every post do you?

It sounded like a joke to me, until she said her bit about free speech. Then it just sounded snide.

Seriously. Priceguy didn’t tell you anything. He politely requested in the OP that only a certain group of people answer. For some reason, you’re taking this personally when there was nothing in the OP that should suggest that. Priceguy then made the mistake of hijacking his thread by getting into the topic of Kaitlin, but he did start the thread. If I were he, I’d either ignore your ridiculous post or open a pitting on you. (Obviously I’m not he… and obviously he can make his own decisions too.) It looks like the thread is going on in spite of the hijack. But next time Kaitlin, please understand that it’s not an issue of limiting your “free speech”, it’s trying to find an answer to a question that a person has, and considering the parameters of the question, your input is not relevent.
Paulberserker, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a thread with Kaitlin before nor do I know much about her, but it seems that she identifies as a woman and a she, so when you put ‘her’ in quotes, it’s a bit demeaning.
This is my first personal Pitting. I was kinda hoping it would be for something different than hijacking my own poll. Well, them’s the breaks.
paulberserker: Kaitlyn’s first post in that thread was, pretty obviously, joke-ish, probably brought on at least in part by my similar comments to Kaitlyn in the photo thread. The “free speech” bit is a joke. I find this obvious, but I guess others missed it. Or maybe I’m wrong and Kaitlyn is about to go First Amendment on my (rather pretty, but also regrettably male) ass, but I highly doubt it.
When you posted your bit, Kaitlyn hadn’t yet mentioned her transgenderness. The only reason she did at all was that I had asked her questions. The only person who mentioned her transgenderness before you did was Malacandra.
All in all, if anyone is at fault here it is me for hijacking my own thread, which I think is a forgivable offense, all things considered.
paulberserker, I think you’re being a real jerk about this. I also think Kaitlyn’s indignant tone in her first post was obviously meant as a joke.
However, I won’t say that you don’t have a bit of a point – Priceguy was clear as to what sort of poll he wanted to conduct, what his hypothesis was, and whose responses he was interested in. Kaitlyn is not a totally straight person, so I think it was a bit rude of her to insist upon sharing her opinion of straight sex in a thread intended to collect the opinions of totally straight people on gay sex.
Still, if the OP didn’t mind the hijack I can’t see getting too upset about it.
And Ilsa Lund pads his post count with a drive by waste of bandwidth.
Whats difficult to get about this? I’ve found Kaitlyn more and more recently to be a one trick pony attention whore, and this was something to hang it on. Doesn’t detract from the fact either that her and Priceguy both contradict themselves in that thread after what I said there.
I went back and looked at the original thread. I happened to know ahead of time that Kaitlyn is a transsexual. I suppose it could be seen as nothing more than a bad joke, but my first impression was that she was deliberately trying to hijack the thread.
Either way, her posts in that thread were in poor taste and did nothing to help it move along.

And her SO, Mrs. Six, is a (formerly?) totally straight woman who is now having sex with another woman, so that’s a valid post for the thread. Kait’s point was that sometimes, for the right person, you’ll throw out preconceived notions.
