Getting up in the world in the MMP

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Last shift before vacation, so of course the current(outdoor) heat index is 90.
Also, from my Facebook memories:
“Dude with a man bun just knelt down in front of the charging station to pull out his charger. For a minute I thought he was committing seppuku.”

Do me a favor, and ship it FedEx, and not UPS,?

The only storm I can remember that starts with “F” is “Floyd”, which took out a tree in my NJ backyard and caused the local lake to go over its banks. Just looked it up, and I see that “Floyd” got retired.

Will come back later and catch up on the rest of the mumping later today.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 with rain predicted for this afternoon and evenin’. We had a biiiiiig tstorm last night. Lots of flashes and kabooms. We shall continue to finesse our sloth technique today. Not sure if there will be quality cee-mint pond time due to the weather. It does look like Fred will pay us a little bit of a visit early in the week. We shall see. Sup shall be grilled chikin strips, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Nameless sorry about the positive covid test. Also, yay for hubby decidin’ to get stabbed. Could you perhaps email the clinic and inform them of your positive status and ask them to advise abour rescheduling?

Oopsie sorry about the plumbin’ woes. However, I am glad you have a workin’ terlet. Could a set of those steps I see advertised help doggie with gettin’ in/out of bed? I’ve heard they help.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the dahy! Rah,

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning all. Up early as I have a big soccer event planned for this morning about 8am. However, they closed the fields yesterday due to thunderstorms in the area, although we got little if any rain. So now I’ve got to stew while the Parks people make the decision if the fields will be open or not. And if they are, what I am going to do with 40 or so 6-year old boys…

Ah well, that’s what I get for volunteering.

Take care all, way to early for me to absorb stuff. Y’all take care now.

Good morning Mumpers!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I have a couple of errands to complete today (including picking up a new Roku, given that the last one bit the dust) and a dog park trip should it not rain, but most of the day will be spent just messing around.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! I am officially on holiday for a week…woohoo! Started well, I went to the gym this morning for bootcamp and spin, and I survived both. Stopped off at the pet shop on the way home to get some more cat litter so there’s plenty in the house while we’re away and the catsitter’s calling round, then went to get petrol as the car’s only got 57 miles left in the tank and that will not get me very far.

I’m clean and presentable again, sorted out the automated cat feeder although Whisper is still ignoring it completely, and have had a couple of restorative cups of tea. Off to town for lunch from the Good Chinese Place, and whatever errands I can think of.

It’s raining, and 18C/65F outside. Weather device says “mostly cloudy and an 81% chance of precipitation”. I’d say that’s pretty accurate since it’s cloudy out there and currently precipitatin’ away.

Tonight is cocktails night so there will be an espresso martini and a few margaritas in my future. No idea what films we’ll watch with them, not my turn to choose. I picked Black Widow last night, innocuous stuff and lots of things go bang and boom. Perfect for a Friday night.

And I’m back.

As the MRI did not show any evidence of a tumor or MS, the doctor said the only treatment for my sudden hearing loss is corisone shots to the middle ear. That is, through the ear drum. There are a total of 4 shots, and they have to be done within two weeks. This week I had 3 of them, and each shot means an hour at the doctor’s office, plus 45 minutes travel, each way. So a lot of time got et up by these appointments.

The actual appointments are not so bad, but the doctor got sick on Thursday and I had a different doctor on Friday. If he had done the first one, I’m not sure I would have done the second. Didn’t particularly care for his technique. At least the first doctor is supposed to be healthy on Monday.

The reorganization at work is still in full rotation, which some additional mess due to the firing of my former boss. At this point, it sounds like he might get fired again, if such a thing were possible.

Great to hear about Ms. Magill’s remission.

Hugs for {{shoe}} and everyone else who needs them.

It’s currently 29 C / 84F with an expected high of 30 C / 86 F, with 60% humidity. Tomorrow we’re going up on the Rigi where the temperature will be cooler, but the sun will be brighter. Normally go up there 1-3 times a year, but haven’t been up there since 2019.

We grilled hamburgers for lunch, and have 2 more sitting in the fridge for tomorrow, after we get home. Went to Luzern to do some shopping, but we’re still trying to avoid being inside with too many other people.

Should do some cleaning, but the summer weather only lasts until tomorrow, so I think there will be some book reading and some enjoyment of beverages. Doctor didn’t say I have to avoid alcohol, just have to keep the ear drum dry, so I’ve been using a cotton ball to help keep water out while showering.

Enjoy the weekend!

Good morning everyone.

We reached 97 degrees yesterday, but the air quality was horrible due to the wildfire smoke. It didn’t stay there long, but it was still stifling even when the temperature dropped to about 92 because of the thick smoke. Today’s high is supposed to be 92, but the smoke is supposed to start clearing out and tomorrow will scrub out even more. We might see a little rain on Monday.

Yesterday we went to the bird store and then to lunch at a new Mexican joint. It was really, really good. The restaurant is part of a chain that started as a lunch truck in 1997. Two guys came together to create bricks and mortar joint and they now have several locations in Washington state, plus one in Mexico! The restaurant was busy and filled with all kinds of Latin people. We will be visiting or having Door Dash delivery from this place more often. The food was fresh, filling, and inexpensive. Seriously, it was cheaper for my husband and me to eat there than at Mcdonald’s.

After lunch, we headed to the grocery store to pick up groceries, and then Mud Bay to pick up dog ice cream for Polar. When we returned he gave us quite the dressing down, but he was mollified by some peanut butter/banana doggie ice cream.

I think I’m going to wash the windows today or tomorrow. I never got around to it the other day, but I’d like to get them washed on the outside.

Mornin’ all! It’s kind of nice to be able to get around to Mumping while it’s still the morning. But I only have a few minutes before I need to get ready to go pick my friend up.

Despite all of the storms/rain we got last night, it’s crazy humid today. Plus it’s not even 10:30am and it’s already nearly 80 degrees. Definitely an “inside” kinda day for me!

I keep telling her that!

I have a set, but they’re too shallow for her to use comfortably. Most of those steps are intended for small dogs – or, at least, dogs that are smaller than my 50-lb hound. I’m hanging on to them, though, just in case a day comes when it’s either shallow steps or no bed/couch. I’ve also thought about a ramp, but I know that if it’s too steep or if there’s any give she’ll be too scared to use it (she’s kind of a wuss). So what I’d need would be too big for the bedroom, which is partly what led to the “no bed frame” idea. I’m hanging onto the ramp idea for outside, though, in case the back steps ever become difficult for her.

Have a great day, everyone!

My 70 lb Cinnamon is also 13 and starting to have trouble getting around. Actually the 2 of us trying to get down stairs in the morning is kind of comical. Quite a few bad knees there. He still tries to make the jump up into the back seat of the truck, but I make sure to catch and lift his butt the rest of the way.

Now mowage must be accomplished today. The lawn is shaggy, and it’s finally not wicked hot.

Whew. I’m here more or less. Microsoft apparently decided that my computer needed some sort of something and it’s still trying to start. So tablet it is.

Major storm came thru last night leaving lots of leaves and branches in the yard. That’s a chore for tomorrow.

We got some breakfast then went to pack up FCD`s office. It didn’t take nearly as long as I’d expected. Everything’s still in the truck since we both needed a break. I need to do a quick vacuum and dust before we bring all the crap in. But that’s all I plan to do today.

Happy Saturday!!

Blurf. That is all from me.

Breakfast has been consumed.

I think I’l finally get started building that woodshed around noon. Maybe even earlier.

Happy Saturday!

I think it’s supposed to rain today. It’s cloudy out, and I felt a few sprinkles when leaving the park.
Supposed to cool off a bit too.

Nice group this morning, all dogs I don’t have to worry about with Echo. Except Urban. She annoys him because when he is playing with other dogs, she likes to run up behind him and bite him in the ass. Kind of smart of her being that is the end with no teeth.

My neighbor has some hibiscus plants out front, and I saw a hummingbird stop by to eat.

I have to do laundry today. I’m wearing my last clean shirt, and it’s an old shirt that has some stains on it and is a little too tight. I look like I just stepped out of a people of walmart video.
I suppose I should check out the emails about renewing my health insurance. I’m supposed to do it by tomorrow, but I think the emails don’t really apply to me. I think it’s for the people who lost insurance due to covid. I guess I should at least read them.
I have some papers to esign for the refinance. I have two other phone calls to make, but I think neither of those companies have weekend hours. The cable company wants me to upgrade, and I have no idea why the hospital billing department called me. When I called them back yesterday, I got a message saying nobody was available to take my call. I still haven’t set up my VM, so they couldn’t leave a message. I guess I should add setting up my VM to my agenda.

There was heat(100), there was chaos(the wrong can of Air got unloaded), I’m on vacation(super almost forgot)

Mowage achieved. The new (to me) riding mower is nice. But, it goes almost too fast and has some annoying “safety” features. It shuts off when you get out of the seat, which is inconvenient, since I have to go through a gate to mow part of the lawn, and it shuts off the blades when you go in reverse. Wonder if I can disable the seat cut off switch?

Next tasks are go to Agway for dog food and get some gas for the mowers.

Wifey got some doggie diapers for Vinnie to wear around the house, so that helps with one of the problems. He was obsessive about not having ‘accidents’ in the house, so we know something’s up.
I don’t think he knows where he is all the time these days.
When I took him out to pee this morning he came back to the patio and stared at the door I was holding open for him as if he didn’t know what to do. It wasn’t until I went up the steps ahead of him that he figured out that he could also go up the steps.
On the other hand, when we take him out for his ‘walk’ he’s as joyful as a puppy. The rest of the time he sleeps.
It’s not much of a walk, just over to the park kitty-corner from the house, but it counts to him. And he always poops when he’s over there. Wifey says he does it for me, 'cause he thinks I want him to. I dunno. Maybe.

I need to go to the store today. We’re out of dog food, and we could use some other stuffs. I’ll be wearing my mask. I feel like taking my cane with me in case anybody gives me any grief about being masked up. Then I could whack 'em. Idjits

I am not in a good mood today.

No signs of tree rats this morning. I think the tabasco spray might be working. The prickle stuff is supposed to arrive Monday. If I can keep the little varmints at bay until then, the plants should be fine.

Nameless, thank you ! So sweet of you! Normally |Jimmy Cagney voice| I don’t take crap from nobody, see? But if the prickle strips don’t work, I may take you up on your very kind offer.

I had to sleep with the windows open last night or spend the night dreaming I was in Hell’s kitchen (the brimstone one, not the Bronx). So today I have a scratchy throat from the smoke. No big deal. I’m happy tomorrow’s supposed to be cooler.

Dice, don’t leave us hanging! Are the shots working, or won’t you know for awhile yet? They sound unpleasant.

Moooom, hope your computer is OK by now.

Sari, good luck with the health insurance stuff. Hopefully it doesn’t apply to you.

So there was a can of air? And another can of air? And only one was supposed to be unloaded? The other was supposed to stay on the, uh, |checks doggio notes| pig? I need an UPSian-English dictionary. Anyway, glad you and BooFae are on vacation!

Our John Deere has a button that you’re supposed to push when you back up while mowing, otherwise, it’d stop. FCD disabled that function, so we can mow going forward and backwards. Very helpful because to mow the side hill, we have to drive up then back down many times. Ours also dies if you get out of the seat without setting the brake and disconnecting the blade drive, but I’ve mastered opening and closing the gate from the seat.

We had a similar issue with Bernie. She would walk up to a corner of the room, and just stand there, staring at the wall, not knowing what to do. She was having problems finding her food dish, which hadn’t been moved for the entire time she’d lived here. Once she lost control of bladder and bowels, we knew it was time. It was obvious that she wasn’t our Bernie any longer. She was nearly 16 - years older than we’d expected her to live. It was still a really difficult decision, even tho we knew it was the right thing to do.

FWIW, we’ve taken to wearing our masks again. What with the toddler, the preggo, and FCD’s impending knee replacement, we absolutely can’t risk infection, even asymptomatic. I’ve been surprised at the number of people I’ve seen in masks - usage is obviously up in our county.

We’re almost done setting up the computers and associated stuff. Then I need to haul in all the boxes of books so he can put everything away. And the experiment in re-employment will be over. It seems when you work for someone else, you have to do what they want you to do whether you think it makes sense or not. But if you’re an independent contractor, you can decline any assignment you think is stupid.

It was an amiable parting - they still want him to do design and analysis, and he doesn’t have to go to endless meetings and deal with acquisition and other non-engineering stuff. Plus with the upcoming surgery and associated PT, it’ll be lots easier not having to keep asking for time off. And when Toby arrives, I’ll have backup… yeah, right… :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if I can persuade my sweetie that he needs a DQ break??

Evening all.

I had an extremely frustrating day. As you may remember, I’m trying to find a new flat- I’ve been contacting lots of rental agencies, but they all seem to be only arranging viewings on weekdays, while I’m irking. I’d arranged one viewing for today, but only one.

So… I drove what wound up being almost 3 hours, due to all the slow holidaymaking caravans clogging up the roads, got almost there and noticed a missed call on my phone. Apparently the tenant currently in the flat was supposed to be leaving them the key but had forgotten and gone to work with it- which, incidentally, directly contradicted what they’d previously told me- that the place was empty and they already had the key.

So yeah, I drove all the way there, and didn’t even get to view the place, plus it appears that the agency’re telling me porky pies. Over 5 hours of driving to look at the outside of a flat.

On the plus side, I did go look around the area, because I’ve not been there before. The town the flat I was supposed to be visiting is in isn’t very nice, but I got the number of a bunch of agencies who are based a lot closer to the uni in a much nicer area, several of which at least claim they have something in my price range. Of course, they were all shut (why they all shut on Saturdays, I have no idea), so I’ll have to call on Monday to see if they just left the ads up to make the place look busy (entirely possible- there seems to be nothing in that town online). Hopefully I can take a day off in the next week or so, and it might mean I find something better in the long run… Maybe.

Traffic was a lot better on the way back, and I rescued a really cool caterpillar from being trodden on while I was checking the area out, so that was nice at least.
