Getting up in the world in the MMP

Especially for that caterpillar! Good on you :clap:t3::clap:t3::clap:t3:

It was one of these, all camouflaged on the tarmac in the middle of town.

They’re probably the biggest species we have here- he was almost as long as the width of my hand. No idea how he got there…

I have had a Very Strong cider, and now I’m feeling a little less grumpy. Only a bit though.

Gorgeous picture! Thank you

I had problems like that yesterday. Restarted my computer to deal with Chrome crashing, and hello surprise updates that took over an hour!

I’m sorry to hear about Vinnie, Bumba. We had to put our Brandi in diapers all the time too, but she always managed to work her way out of them. She loved her walkies, but in the last year of her life, she couldn’t really do it anymore. It was just too much for her so we’d go-'round the yard with her.

I’ve been busy with vacuuming and dusting. I have the upstairs all done, and the downstairs too. Now, I’m getting ready to steam-clean the hallway between the entry, den, and great room. Polar likes to take his treats there, so there are stains on the carpet.

Good luck with finding a new place, Nut.

We’re fully masking up here any time we’re indoors. Of course there are some idiots that refuse to do so. I don’t know when my county became so red and, worse, Trump supporters. We used to be primarily blue. I just cringe when I see the stupid flags (still up) and now their FREEDUMB is causing huge spikes in the virus around here. Our hospitals are full. They make me crabby. A bunch of numbnuts are protesting at the Capitol because the governor wants to make the vaccine mandatory. Just get the freakin’ shot and shut the eff up. Ugh.

Howdy Y’all! We definitely upped our sloth game today. Well, I did make us breakfast and we did use the grill for sup along with makin’ sallits and cheesey garlic bread so I suppose that counts for some unslothness (is too a word, I just made it up!). We had some quality cee-mint pond time and a late N.O,L./early sup. Now ‘tis stormin’ out which is fine by me.

We had weenies for supper. I even bought a can of Hormel chili (judge ye not!!!) so FCD could have chili dogs. Dishes are done. I’m about to assume the recline position.

Rain is on the way, starting tonight and on-and-off for the next week. Temps coming down. The coolness will be most welcome. If there’s a stretch of dry tomorrow, I’ll be outside picking up the various and sundry branches that last night’s storm knocked down. Plus I need to run a load of the blankets and towels we used today to cushion the computer stuff. Good times ahead!

So…it’s been a long day. Started with the U7 soccer “jamboree”, but because the parks department never showed the park open (they had closed them Friday evening due to thunder and lightning in the area), a lot of parents didn’t come. Still had 22 boys show up which kept the coaches busy (including me) for a couple of hours. Then came home and finalized the soccer teams (all 14 of them) and sent them off to the coaches, then went over and help pass out coach bags (with balls, cones, pinneys, and a little med kit) for a half-hour, then checked in on the coach training, and then went back to pick up some stuff I had left at the coach equipment place, then got a practice bag filled and took it to give to one of my coaches who was doing training and… well, if you get the idea I was fairly busy today, and in 85-90F heat, my job is done. Need to fix my Big Bowl O’Sallit pretty quickly since while I have taken in a fair amount of fluid, haven’t had much in the solid foods division.

Rain is predicted for tomorrow (70% chance), so mowage may have to wait a while.

Taters, I’ve noticed more stores this week requiring masks rather than just suggesting them. Hospitals are pretty full up right now.

Nut, good luck on the living quarters and good on ya for helping that butterfly-in-training. There was a couple of butterflies around the soccer field today and they spooked several 5-6 year olds.

Dicey, good news on the MRI…I guess, shots into the ear are something that makes me go ‘eeeewwwww’’.

OK, that’s all I have energy for, need to stagger out to the kitchen and make me a sallit. All y’all take care.

Moooooooom, did you make slaw for your chili dawgs?

I’ve noticed more masking here in middle TN in the last week or so too. Vanderbilt Hospital has no ICU beds available at this point and are diverting folks to other hospitals, which are almost as full.

I got the errands run today. I got royally PO’d at Wally World and cancelled a pickup order when I got there, called the number (three times no less! :open_mouth:) with no answer and a full mailbox. They evidently don’t want to fill pick up orders. Not a bad thing, as I figured out what was wrong with what I was going to replace anyway. Nelson and I left the dog park just minutes beforeit began to rain. The Captain fixed supper.

He didn’t want slaw - just chopped onions. I just had grilled onions and ketchup. I don’t want to hear snark about ketchup on weenies!:stuck_out_tongue:

Suddenly, I’m whipped. I think I’ll sleep with Mel tonight.

I spent about 4 hours shed-building, starting with a trip to the hardware store to get four eight-foot pices of pressure-treated 2x4 and seven eight-foot pieced of untreated 2x4. I started by building a frame for the floor, attaching the (painted) floor, and placing it on the foundation. (I built the foundation frame last week, and Felipe brought gravel yesterday.) Then I started on the frame for the structure. I made four uprights and four crosspieces, with the from uprights being 11 inches – Oops! 10-½ inches taller than the rear ones. The skinny pieces from the salvaged construction table are 11 inches wide. Looks like I’ll have to trim half an inch when I make the triangles. Tomorrow I’ll get some OSB for the back, make the triangles and attach them, and paint everything, I’m planning to get green corrugated fibreglass for the roof. Once done, I can shif the wood into it.

I was taking a break in the catio, and Mrs. L.A. came out crying. She’d been doing a bit of cleaning, and went to get a potty pad to put under the litter box. The pad had blood stains on it from Tonka. He was coughing up blood on his last day. :frowning: And I thought I had it rough when I came across those ‘They still talk about you’ memes on Facebook. :frowning:

{{{{{ Mrs. LA }}}}}

So sorry Mrs LA Hugs to the LA Fam.

Flyboy Be sure the PT stuff is what’s going on ground level. But I’m sure you don’t need that advice.

Masking has been interesting here lately. Roughly 50% of patrons are masked and same for workers. I’m in a red part of a very blue county, and it seems to be the farther out from country central, the less masks. I’mma gonna mask for awhile.

I smell smoke. I’m suspecting a neighbor’s fire pit or perhaps bbq since it’s rained way too much for a forest fire in these parts.

Anyway, off to bed for me, and thanks, all for putting up with my crap… Y’all are one of very few of places where I get human contact these days.

So the Heat Index hit 11. , so Heat advisory. then there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, folled by a flash Flood warning. but it’s down to 73 now. Raleigh is back to mandatory indoor mask, so people are wearign them(I’ve been re masked for a couple of weeks)

Package car: the van that delivers to your home or business
Pig: 30 foot box truck, for delivering Surepost to the Post Offices, merch to the local Jungle warehouse, or if a business orders a gross of anvils.
SurePost: we pay the post office to deliver to your mailbox, because they have a bigger address file
Ground: we heave the stuff into a 53 foot truck and it gets driven there in 3-4 days.
Can: a 4 foot by 4foot by 4 foot aluminum box that goes on airplanes
Air: we heave it into a can, heave the can into a plane, the can gets heaved from the plane into a special trailer, and you get it the next day.
Ireg: if it weighs more that 75 pounds or is more than 5 feet log, it gets handled differently.

Nut, you need to borrow Boofae’s pointy stick for these rental folk.

I know what you mean.

Read, kinda remembered, but really nappy all day and gonna go back to bed as soon as I get the dishwasher loaded.

COVID sucks. Vaccinated COVID doesn’t suck as much, I’m tired and sneezing. Hubs is sicker than me and its all his fault, the idiot.

The storm last night was wonderful. You know how lightning usually strikes, the sky goes bright and then all goes dark until the next strike? Imagine around 60,000 strikes in about 4 hours. The rumbles never stopped while the rain fell hard enough to hear, but not hard enough to flood.

George and VBC are doing all sorts of hunky-dory, VGC (who is also VeryOldCat) just hangs out on his scratching post in the bedroom and looks annoyed. He’s especially annoyed now that hubs is spending more time in bed and the annoying kitten wants to sleep on a nice, warm human.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and fair (as opposed to carnival?) with a predicted high of 88 and maybe rainy. Or not. We do have a flash flood warnin’ due to copious amounts of rain last night. Hard to tell what Fred may do as it looks like he will track farther west of us now. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization where I get to sit my behind in a pew and be a rank and file Parishoner. Afterwards we are goin’ to the good local seafood place. I see fried shrimpies in my future. YUM!

Nameless hope hubs and you are on the mend soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

… for a very loose definition of human:wink: I’m not naming names…

I crack me up!!

I crashed pretty early last night and fell asleep much faster than usual. I’d left the bedroom door open because Ziva was still hiding under our bed. Naturally, Taz took it as an invitation and woke me when he was climbing on me. He wouldn’t settle down and sleep, so I had to drag my sorry self out of bed to toss his sorry butt out in the hallway and close the door. But Ziva had already departed, which worked out.

We had a rather spectacular storm - some thunder that literally rattled stuff in the house. It’s still too dark to see how much detritus has accumulated in the yard, but I expect a messy sight eventually.

If Accuweather is to be believed, we shouldn’t expect any more rain till late in the afternoon and temps should stay below 80°. If so, I’ll drag the wagon around and haul branches of acceptable size to the wood pile in the back yard. Leaves can decompose where they fall, and smaller sticks and twigs will be mulched by John Deere next time I mount up. My other chore is laundering the blankets and towels from the move, but I may put that off till I can hang them outside to dry.

I’ll also help FCD finish with his office. He ran out of steam yesterday afternoon when he was going to start running the Cat5 cables. But once he sorts that out, I can take both CPUs and finish hooking them up, then haul the boxes for him to unpack. I’d help with that, but I have no idea how he arranges his books and other stuff and he prefers to do it himself.

Thus endeth the first half of August - already?!?!? :open_mouth:

Happy Sunday!

Hugs to you and MrsLA flyboy. The little reminders tend to be hard.

Hope that you and MrDoe are feeling better soon unknown.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting and just chilling.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

flyboy, that had to hurt, finding that reminder. Hugs (once removed) to Mrs. flyboy. And glad the shed is underway.

Feel better soon, unknown.

Thanks for the translations, doggio; I’m sure I’ll remember them for 2, maybe 3 days…

VanGo, we put up with nobody’s crap…because it’s not crap to us, it’s life and we’re all living it. Take care.

FCM, I am also a heretic I guess, I put both mustard and ketchup on my hotdogs (along with cheese and pickles…)

No storming here yet, but tunderboomers have a 70% chance of developing today, say the Weather Wizards. We shall see. The page for my locale on Weather Underground is showing it’s 140F outside, I am a little skeptical of that (but not much…). Need to go make a Braunsweiger run here this morning and pickup a few other things from the Foodland.

Got my 12U team, 13 boys to coach, I do have an assistant coach to help, but it’ll still be a fair amount of work. Ah well, fill up my Tuesdays and Fridays.

OK, best take my pills while I’m thinking about them and get the day underway. Everybody have a good Sunday now. (PS–Weather Underground has my temperature back to 75F, so I guess it’s safe to venture out…)
