Getting up in the world in the MMP

Me three.

I don’t know that I have touched a human in … like, months?

I actually fantasize about people I know sharing my bed and spooning me. Not anything sexual. Just … human contact. Just skin-on-skin touch.

Fantasies don’t amount to much.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. First day of vacation, so I shall clean.

I think they stuck the temperature probe into the pork roast in the oven.

Hope you and the idiot feel better, quick.

011011101010001! I mean, you are welcome, fellow meat being!

[Southern Lady]Bless your hearts[/Southern Lady]

Good morning.

It’s my last day of vacation and I has a sad. :frowning: I don’t want to go back to work.

I hope you and your husband both feel better soonest, Jane.

Those reminders are very tough, Johnny. I’m sorry they still bring pain.

I like ketchup, mustard, mayo, and sweet relish on my hotdogs. Sue me.

My day turned out much busier than I anticipated yesterday. I vacuumed and dusted both the upstairs and the downstairs, cleaned drains, and then steam-cleaned the den and the hallway between the entryway, great room, and den. After that, I put together the potato salad I had boiled eggs and potatoes for in the morning. After dinner, I went out and watered the patches of lawn where I threw down seed/patch repair. Today I need to scrub the powder room and tidy up the kitchen. I also need to dash to the store because the kids are coming down and I promised I’d fix dinner. I also need to fit laundry into all of this.

I suppose I should get my next cup of coffee and then get the kitchen clean-up so I can hop in the shower.

In my caffeine deficiency, I thought you said to put the PT on level ground. I was like, 'Yeah, that was the whole point of building a foundation! :stuck_out_tongue: ’ Yes, the PT wood was used to make a base for the ¾" plywood floor. (I painted the top of the floor with deck paint.) The foundation is make from PT 2x6s, eight by four. I spent three hours last week making a level spot and building the frame. Friday the frame was filled with gravel. So the floor is supported by PT wood on gravel that is several inches above ground level.

If it’s not too late, slap a coat of that deck paint on the underside of the plywood too. But the gravel french drain type situation is definitely a good idea.

I’m noticing more and more my social stupidity. Example: last night I was picking up a pizza and ran into the wife of a friend outside the pizza place and she asked me to come into the bar next door where she and her husband were. I hadn’t planned on doing anything but getting the pizza so I said no. Changing plans is hard. I now realize that I certainly could have gone in for a beer. I’ve been kicking myself ever since. I spend waaay too much time alone.

Um, far be it from me to judge, but I think you vacation wrong… Kinda like the way I retired.

I’ve got a load of towels in the dryer and another in the washer. FCD whines if I hang them on the line, so what the heck… But the afghan and the comforter are both going on the lines tomorrow, weather permitting. They’re just too big for the dryer.

We need to form a club - KOW - Ketchup On Weenies! :hotdog: And we won’t discriminate against mustard or relish or chili lovers, but we won’t put up with their snobbery, either! KOW Power!! :fist:

OK, I’m done. For now.

Too late. I thought about it, but decided not to. One thing I’m doing is covering the edges of the floor with the sides. I thought about putting some flashing on the open edge.

Mrs. L.A. just said, ‘Abbey’s so sweet! She covers up her litter box with the pee pad.’ I thought Mrs. L.A. accidentally covered it while cleaning; but Abbey’s ‘putting the lid down’ herself.

Hot dogs. I love them. And I put ketchup on them!!! And I eat Hormel chili!!!

Tis lovely weather in no. Illinois. Rode Miss Ariel yesterday. Today is kinda slothy. The a/c guy came this morning cuz when I had the water heater installed Friday, the plumber noticed some drippage. The a/c/ guy works Sunday through Thursday so it was perfect, except I woke up at 6, said it’s too early, and woke up at 8:15, minutes before the a/c guy came. Oh well, I might go to the barn later, I might hang a home. As swampy says, I’m all willy nilly about this.

Happy Sunday!

Cool 71 degrees at the park. Kind of damp too. I wish I had worn long sleeves.
I think it’s supposed to rain.
Not many of us there this morning. I had a chance to catch up with Lily’s mom, whom I haven’t seen her for over a week.

Don’t know what stuff off the list I’m going to do today. I think the health insurance stuff doesn’t apply to me. I logged into my account and there is no option for me to choose a plan. I know from past experience that the exchange will send emails to everybody whether it applies to them or not. Trash goes out tonight, but I already cleaned out the fridge so that is done. Laundry still needs to be put away.

Finally got news about the pooch plunges for this year. They should be fun, even if my two don’t like the water.
Ripple got his little postcard from the vet that his rabies vaccine is due. It seems his official name is now Ripple - ALERT.

Since I fell asleep about three times while I was typing this, maybe I should add a nap to the agenda.

Hello, everyone!

Yesterday was a good day. I wound up having both lunch (Panera) and dinner (local Tex-Mex) with my friend, and in between we hung out in her kitchen and made jewelry while we talked about everything and nothing. She got into beading about 10 years ago, while being treated for breast cancer, and it became A Thing. These days she can make some really nice pieces; jewelry that looks like it came from a store. Over the years I’ve made a few simple necklaces, but yesterday I used beads/pieces that I’d bought for myself and I made something I’m really happy with:

(I’ve sorta figured out the picture thing, but I can’t seem to get the photo to simply appear in the thread: every time I try, Discourse tells me that I’m not allowed to embed media. Suggestions? Or is this as good as I can expect?)

It was a great day, and my friend and I both appreciated the quality time together. We also appreciated that the storms we’d been expecting all day never materialized. I left the doggy alone for longer than planned, but after a Milk Bone and some quality time on the couch together I think she forgave me.

Speaking of the doggy, while I’m posting photos here’s one of Bailey from her 13th birthday last month:

We did finally get a storm late last night, just as I was falling asleep. I don’t recall being kept awake by any of it, but today I’m a little more tired than I would have expected so maybe I didn’t sleep all that well.

It’s almost 12:30pm here in lovely overcast Northern Virginia, and it’s time for some lunch. I’m not feeling inspired by anything that’s already in the house (aka, anything somewhat healthy), so I just ordered a chicken sandwich from one of my favorite local places via DoorDash. I might also be getting an oversized chocolate cookie…

I woke up after only a couple hours of sleep, and it took several hours for me to get back to dreamland. I was dreaming i was back in 8th grade social studies, telling everyone how I would grow up to teach social studies and English, when I got an early-morning text from one friend, followed by a phone call from Old Flame. So I think this is going to be a sleepy Sunday.

You know, reading all these accounts of thunderstorms from here in Droughtville is like watching the Food Network when dieting. Speaking of food…I don’t understand catsup on hot dogs and probably never will, but then I don’t understand ranch dressing on canned peaches or mayo on pizza, and I was able to look the other way those times…

flyboy, those little emotional landmines are tough. Glad Abbey is giving you and Mrs. LA some smiles.

nameless, I think I’m going to go with Taters and call you Jane, if that’s OK. For some reason, “nameless” makes me sad. I hope you escape the clutches of COVID soon–oh, and the hubs, too.

Oopsie, that is one sweet puppy face! He sure doesn’t look 13.

Sari, I got a chuckle out of “Ripple-ALERT.” I keep imagining the neighbors’ faces were you to go outside and call, “ALERT! ALERT!”

ETA: Jane, I meant I hope the hubs escapes the clutches of COVID, not that I hope you escape the clutches of hubs.

Too soon to tell or it’s not working, I think. Only one more to go, so I’ll find out tomorrow what comes next.

Went up Mt. Rigi for the first time in 2 years. Lots of people up there, not surprisingly since it’s a Sunday and it’s warm. Enjoyed the day, but looking forwarding to getting lower temperatures again, even though this summer has been cooler than normal.

And just now, a memory from six years ago popped up on Facebook. It was a picture of Tonka and Creamsicle curled up asleep together in a chair outside. :frowning:

We went out for breakfast this morning at a tiny place we frequent. The Missus thought she had a choice of bacon or sausage with her biscuits and gravy. It didn’t, so she didn’t want any bacon. I said it’s our anniversary, so I ordered her some anniversary bacon. We both had two large rashers.

:astonished: :astonished: :astonished:
That’s just wrong. So wrong.

Turns out last night’s mega-rain entered our basement. There was a puddle in the closet and a couple of the carpet tiles were wet. I sopped up the puddle with a towel and I’ve got a fan aimed at the carpet tiles. We need a French drain along the front of the house. I suppose I should get on that. Dammit. I know how to do it - I just don’t want to. But FCD can’t and I don’t want to spend the $$ for someone to dig a small trench. I need the exercise anyway.

Speaking of whom, we got texts that he has an appt in Baltimore on Weds with his neurosurgeon. I can’t go in with him, but I’m going to drive him. So there’s a little fun to look forward to.

I forgot to rub the pork and put it in the oven when I got up this morning. I put it on when we got back from breakfast, so it should be done around 18:00.

I know. Full disclosure: it was a little girl who put the ranch on canned peaches; it’s what her family did. It was an adult who put mayo on pizza. (“Try it! It’s really good!” Yeah, that’s what the Donner Party said.) Mama raised me to be open-minded, but I spent my entire youth and part of my adult life in Chicagoland, so I compromise by keeping my mouth shut and looking away.

I went for a walk, but it’s too dang hot out there, so I only did 2 miles. I am dripping with sweat from that little.

That just sounds vaguely dirty flyboy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sunday chores, save supper KP are done. Once that’s done, it’s chill time.

See y’all tomorrow.

And a good late afternoon to all from N. Ali-bama. Tunder-boomers started about 15 minutes ago with rain (sorry nellie), but I did my shopping, mowed the lawn, and went out to eat (meatloaf at the Metro Diner) all before the rains came. So I actually planned it pretty well today.

Still got a lot of soccer stuff going on, got my boy’s team (13 players) and contacted them and moved several players who can’t practice on the coach’s practice day to other teams, so hopefully the evening will be quiet with no alarms and excursions (it’s an old saying, but for some reason I love it).

FCM, hope the water drain isn’t too much work.

flyboy, two large rashers of bacon for breakfast…you are my type of people.

nellie, I though @JaneDoe42 was "unknown; would that be a better name for her?

Oopsie, cute pooch. And a very good friend indeed.

Shoe, if I was about 900 miles closer, I’d be happy to cuddle you.

OK, onward into the evening hours. All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
