Getting up in the world in the MMP

Until the MMP I had never given a thought to a Dopeaversary.

Somewhat related??? I just sent an email RSVP to a classmate for my 50th high school reunion

Now just you wait a minute there, young missy. You don’t get to say things like that and then just stroll away all casual like.
Explain!

And use little words. I’m on the old, tired laptop.

Yay! for Mrs. Magill!

Sorry you’re feeling low, Shoe. If it’s any consolation, you’re not the only one. But like Mom said; there are ups and downs. There’ll be more ups sometime.

I told y’all that Wifey tested positive for Covid.
Well, she’s feeling better, but I’m isolating over at the little house, with Gibbs. I had a test Sonday, but I haven’t had any symptoms except for a sore throat, so I’m guessing I’m negative. It’d be nice if they’d call and tell me that though.

Today I need to start tearing the bedroom closet out. The bedroom is long and narrow and they built the closet along one of the long walls, making things even more narrow. We want to put it along one of the short walls, making room for a bigger bed. Hence the tearing out. What fun!

It wasn’t anything dramatic. I was nukelating some poke BBQ but I neglected to cover it, and the resulting mess looked like an explosion in the nukelator.

FCD is home. He called enroute to dropping off his car at the shop. I met him there and brought him home. That’s all the news that’s fit to print.

One down, one to go, appointment-wise. The eye doctor visit went OK. The tech was trying to refract the left eye–a futile exercise for years now–but then she turned a knob and WHOA! I started crying. Still a long way from 20/20 in that eye, but best it’s been in years. The optometrist said I could wear glasses if it weren’t for other eye issues. She has to look into my case history and do some research–She’s fresh out of school–and will call me about coming in for a fitting for a custom contact.

I thought I was going IN for a fitting. That was what the appointment was called. However, patience is a virtue.

Oh, and the Uber Driver had some right-wing radio station on that called Faucci a “sleazeball” and spewed all kinds of lies about COVID. I had to hum to myself to keep from yelling.

Now for the real knuckle-biter, the appointment with the CPA.

wordy, sure hope overlymom is OK and COVID-free. Anybody would be anxious in your situation, but I hope it turns out to be nothing much. And I hope your friend’s cancer is treatable. AND I really hope you get smooth sailing for a good long while after this.

VanGo, shoe, hope the gloom lifts soon.

I got this email from the local Ben Bridge yesterday:

I wanted to let you know that we just got an email back from Rolex saying that unfortunately the clasp replacement is required for your Rolex to be completed, and they cannot proceed without all the work being done.

I just got off the phone with the woman who sent it and declined the work. When the watch comes back, she’ll remove the bracelet and then send just the watch down. If they still won’t fix it, I may ask for help starting a ‘Rolex Sux’ campaign on social media. I mean, come on. If they won’t stand up for their own products, why should people buy them?

swampy and Mooooom, when I worked at the bar, anyone staffing the grill was called Fred or Wilma and whoever was tending bar was Barney or Betty.

{{{wetone}}}

{{{shoe)))

Good luck on the new digs nut!

Keeping my fingers crossed that you don’t get covid and MrsBumba recovers soon bumba.

I hope that your mom doesn’t have covid wordy.

I got the grocery shopping done, the breakfast / lunch prep done and Nelson’s little butt to the dog park as well as doing some reading and playing around in the studio today. Tomorrow it’s back to the salt mines.

Afternoon all. Teams have been made up and of course, changes have to be made almost immediately (one of the boys wants to play up a year to be with his best friend, the other coordinator and coaches agreed, so we’ll do that). Expect there to be other woes (I’m trying to coach two U8 and one U12 team this season, the schedulers are balking but I think I’ll bring them around. Will be great to finally get on the field and play soccer instead of all this typing.

Heading out now to help with attendance for the coach training (and also see if my coaches are showing up) and then spend time discussing referee stuff. So that takes care of my evening.

flyboy, good luck on the Rolex front.

nellie, glad your eyes seem to be improving. Hope the CPA meeting goes just as well.

Wizard, leftover muffins…mmmmmm

wet one, been there when the sirens started howling. Glad you’re ok.

OK, need to head out to the fields. Take care all.

Nellie’s Day, Chapter 2: the CPA was at least able to find out where the IRS says the money in question came from. Again, I did not get the money. It has something to do with whether a small annuity was cashed out or rolled over. I’m assuming it was the latter, but I don’t know much about how rollovers work, especially annuity > stocks or bonds or whatever. Does it matter what kind of investment thingie it went into? No clue. I tried calling the financial/brokerage guy, but hey, it was 4:00, so they were gone. Left a message.

Called my sister, who told me to get my butt to the bar cart and have a cocktail, even though it’s only 4:00 here. So I’m feeling very dissipated but am having a medicinal honey whiskey on the rocks.

Tomorrow I go to the dentist. I think I have a cracked filling and need a crown. Oh, if only I had a colonoscopy this week, my joy would be complete.

That’s nice. When does the rest of him get to go?

nellie, his butt followed the rest of him. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck herding that bunch of cats metal mouse.

Howdy Y’all! No drips at the church house for now, so, YAY! Made the Sam;s run and accidentally bought a pee-kahn pie instead of an apple pie. I’m a fool for pee-kahn pie. Had some quality cee-mint pond time, sup got fixed and et and it has attempted to be rainy/stormy but not much success thus far.

MOOOOOOM Fred is my go to answer whenever anybody asks me how to pronounce anything. Again, it amuses me. Also, doggio Fred the spider and I have the not very bright thing in common.

Evening all. Helped a bit with the field training, then went to a referee’s meeting so tonight has been fairly active. Back to reading and answering e-mails on soccer players. One parent wrote me that a boy on my U8 team has Tourette’s syndrome and told me what to expect. First time I’ve had a player with that, but we’ll manage.

Nellie, at least you know where the money was…now find out tomorrow where it is. And hey, it might have been 4:00 at your place but it was 5:00pm somewhere…

Dang-nabbit, swampy, now you’ve got my mouth watering for pecan pie.

OK, it;s late and I’m tired, so catch you all tomorrow.

Made Paprika Chicken for dinner tonight, and Gordie got his grease cookies.

So if I come to a Dopefest at your place, I’m gonna have to repeatedly fish you out of the tub?

Tropical Storm #Fred is 1462 miles SSE of Raleigh, moving W at 17 mph. Max winds 40 mph. https://hurricanes.wral.com #ncwx

today i have done nothing useful except personal care and cleaned a cat box and watered lawn and garden oh made some soup for [peole tomorrow i plan on doing less than today even though aunt has other ideas … so ive pretty much enjoyed the silence of the school year beginning

Today it thundered and lighteninged and winded and looked like we would have a lovely storm. There were a few drops of rain, but not enough to get the ground wet under the trees. I had a disappoint because that’s my “do I need to hand water my posies” gauge.

I started lesson three out of four on my mystery needlework project (you sign up without knowing what the final design will be). I’m such a slacker, people are already posting pics of their finished project. I do have a good excuse, I have a kitten and while he’s a very good kitten, even the best cats have their limits. It would be setting him up to fail if I was playing with thread during his active time. Plus, playing with kitten is more fun than playing with thread.

Mom has been giving me stuff out of her needlework stash now to save me from dealing with it later. I was looking at the dates on some of the kits and gently mentally mocking her because I was seeing things she bought in the 1990’s. Bad move on my part, I went to put them in my stash and noticed that I had something from the 1980’s.

We both need to finish stuff before buying new stuff. I called Mom and we vowed to only buy one new thing a year until we finish our old stuff. Then we discussed if I would have to pay to get into the merchandise room at her Embroiders Guild convention in late October.

My gamer name is derF because my favorite cat at the time was a male named Fred. Tradition is important and I’m so hoping that Diablo IV will come out before winter.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 with possible rain this afternoon. Or not. TWPTB are once again in willy-nilly mode. Bug man comes at nine a.m. to do his monthly thang. We shall procure comestibles and I, of course, will go deal with the usual church janitor Junior Warden duties. We have decided that we will go to the hog trough Golden Corral for a late N.O,L./early sup due to profound laziness on both our parts.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire and must do so before bug man arrives. Life is so difficult and such a bother!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

After my sis friended you on FB, she asked how you pronounced your name, I told her I had no idea since you spoke Jawjan and no one understands that anyway! Tho a quick google reveals that it means “the law man”   Yeah, that fits, Fred…

This made me laugh more than it should have!!

When I was getting donated yarn from the AARP ladies, I would often get untouched skeins with price tags from stores long out of business and priced at 59¢ for a 4 oz skein. As a point of reference, at WalMart, a 4 oz skein of acrylic goes for around $2.69 these days, I think… So, yeah, old yarn. Stashes get that way!

FCD had a rather energetic dream last night, tho he doesn’t remember it. He woke me thrashing about before he knocked his bedside lamp on the floor. Luckily his thrashing was towards the lamp, otherwise he might have thrashed me! :open_mouth:

His car is in the shop, so he’s taking the truck today. My main goal is getting the bathrooms clean. I’ll probably run the mop over the kitchen floor, too. Beyond that, dunno. He’s asked me to resked his PT since we now have surgery dates, so that’s on the list, too. And he’s gonna have a meeting at work today that may result in him not working. They’ve scheduled him for acquisition training. He doesn’t want to do acquisition. So if they’re not planning to use him as an engineer, he’s going to bring his toys home. We shall see how it goes.

I do recall when I was still working as a gummint engineer, it was required that we all attend acquisition training for some stupid reason - maybe that’s all it is, since the company is a gummint contractor. Whatever…

And so, the day begins. Happy Wednesday!!

Morning all. Up early and rescued the newspaper from the lawn. Unlike unknown, we haven’t seen much in the way of tunder-boomers here, did get about 20 minutes of rain yesterday so I don’t have to water the lawn. Heading out to Dick’s and Staples for stuff later this morning, but not much later as the Weather Wizards say it will be 93F today.

doggio, maybe not the tub, but the swimming pool, definitely…

FCM, so they hire an engineer and train him for acquisition…hmmmm. Think you are probably right, it’s just a requirement to get out of the way, but at least FCD has the luxury of opting out if he wants…there is that about retirement…

OK, back to thinking about thinking about getting decent and heading outside. All y’all have a great Hump day.

Good morning everyone.

It’s a pleasant 59 degrees with an expected high of 91. Tomorrow’s expected high is 98 and by Friday we’re supposed to reach 100. :

I was hoping to be on my way to the mountain, but the husband is still in bed. In just a bit, I will wake him up.
