Gettysdope IV: The Quest for Peace

I am sorry that I am unable to attend, but I would very much like to have this recipe when you get back.

We had a lovely time, all! One small request, however: Would the two ladies who requested recipes from Papa Tiger please contact me privately, either by email or PM? He needs some kind of address to send recipes to.

Home, exhausted, thanks all!

Great to see everyone again for another afternoon of hanging out with the usual suspects.

We successfully delivered all of the unclaimed books to the little family book store in New Oxford on the way back here. The proprietor came out to investigate two suspicious people mucking around the outdoor buck a book pile, and instead took the offerings inside. He’s probably sitting there now rolling his eyes-Oy! Another bodice ripper book. ;D

We had a great time and want to thank everyone for contributing to that.

MsRobyn, did you happen to remember to grab the How Things Work book before you left?

Can I have the receipe for this, please?

It was great to see everyone, and meet some new people. I’m glad MudGirl was able to find some mud.

AntaresJB, thanks for the private concert. You have a lovely voice.

As danceswithcats said, the leftover books were dropped off at the used bookstore and hopefully they will find a new home.

Looking forward to GettysDope V!

Okay, home, had a great time, but I’m exhausted. I can, however, take the time to post this, since it’s so very simple!

1 box (about 20oz) brownie mix
Whatever ingredients the back of the box calls for
1C hot water
1C chocolate syrup

Mix up the mix as if you were going to bake brownies. Put it in a 4-6qt. slow cooker. Mix the hot water and chocolate syrup together, pour over the brownie batter; it will sink down. Cook on high for 2 and 1/2-3 hours. Especially good if you serve it very warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!

Okay, off to bed with me!

I grabbed that and a book with film criticism by James Agee.

I’m sure the sprog will love the How Things Work. He’s all about that these days.

Thanks for the book!

Robin

I think my friend will like her cavewoman porn. I know I’m liking the cookbooks.

Pics are up.

I got home last night just after 8, I was out like a light before 9:30.

It was great to see everybody again, we should have more Dopefests!

More pictures!

Just a warning for future Gettydopers…danceswithcats makes sneaky chili. I was told it was the hotter of the two, but when I put it in my mouth it wasn’t really very spicy at all. Then about 30 seconds later…FWWWWAAAAAHHHHH!

Sneaky chili.

Yeah, he’s sneaky like that.

Speaking of sneaky chili, MsRobyn, did you wind up on the couch last night? How is Airman Doors feeling after the helping he had?

That was fun. The food was excellent and the company was better. Next year, fer sure!

Airman volunteered to sleep on the couch. Actually, I gave it up and went to bed, but he rather chivalrously decided to fall asleep on it after I went upstairs. He’s just thoughtful that way.

For those who really, really liked the Adobo, I’ve discovered that Amazon.com sells the recommended-by-PapaTiger Mama Sita’s prepackaged seasoning mix.

ETA: I’ve ordered several packages already.

I brought my camera, but it never left my knitting bag. :frowning: I’m glad to see that, for a welcome change, there was not one photo of me stuffing my face. That’s my usual picnic pose. Sigh.

I never thought to look on Amazon.com for the adobo mix. That’s a good find, Morgyn – the only place locally we’ve found to buy it is a little Filipino grocery store half an hour away. And heaven forbid we ever run out of adobo mix!

I also recommend the Mama Sita’s tocino – put it on thin-sliced London broil or some similar lean cut and broil. Yummy!!

ETA: And I’ll second the sneaky chili vote – although I only had the allegedly mild version, it snuck up on me that evening!
