Gettysdope IV: The Quest for Peace

I have one tray each of veggies and dip and fruit sitting in my fridge, waiting for tomorrow.

I wasn’t able to find bubbles, though, so if someone goes to Wal-Mart or somewhere similar, would you please be so kind as to get bubble soap?

Thanks,

Robin

I have no idea what to bring. I’m thinking of going with Russian honey cakes. They are something like gingerbread cookies. Have I brought any food that people actually liked?

Bring bubbles.

Robin

I said FOOD. Foodstamps cover anything from minicheescakes to canned squid. But they don’t cover bubbles.

I just remembered I have two thumb-sized jars of bubble solution from weddings. A quick check reveals they still work. So, I have two bottles of bubbles and two wands.

I’ll be bringing some books and computer games. Anybody want a set of Risk and Castle Risk?

Okay, one more try with my really dumb question. I have reread the entire thread, read the directions carefully and looked at the .pdf map carefully, and the one piece of information lacking is: the name of the park. Does this mysterious place have an actual name, or is it just “the park in Gettysburg”?

Are we good for diet sodas? Because Papa Tiger is diabetic, so we only have (and drink) diet. If we aren’t, we can bring some, and of course there will also be coffee and water. Just wondering.

We’re in the Kiwanis Pavilion, aren’t we?

We’re going to be minus a kid. Gramma has special plans for the sprog, so he’s spending the weekend with her. Airman and I will still be there.

Robin

Yes. If signs indicate “Greensburg 10 miles” you’ve gone too far.

Hey. These are your fellow Dopers, brother. Only live squid.

I’ll try to remember books and DVDs for the swap, some of which I picked up at last year’s swap.

I noticed in that link that electricity for the pavilions has to be requested in advance. I really, really hope that it has been? Or is that just something they put in there to make people think that it won’t work so they don’t run up the city’s electric bill unnecessarily? :dubious:

I hope we have electricity. I’m bringing a corded soldering iron.

Really.

Goody! Facebranding for the kiddies!

Nah, I’m just bringing along a project I need some geek help with. I need to find the shorts and insulate them, and I need to figure out why the blinking LED causes such a brightness drop in all the other LEDS and why that didn’t happen last year and if using a number of batteries in series instead of one ninevolt will fix things.

paper plates, napkins, plastic silverware and cups (couldn’t remember if any of the drinky people were bringing cups so I got them anyway) have been purchased. Also nametags (we never use the whole pack of nametags, and yet I never remember to keep the leftovers for next year…). Will need to gather books to swap before bed… A girl from work gave me a massive bag of crappy romance novels a few months ago and I will be pleased to foist some of them off on unsuspecting Dopers. Muahaha.

Oh and guitar. That too.

Nah-we take turns, Gilligan style, pedaling the generator bicycle that the Professor built.

Ahhh good! I was wondering how I was going to get my three miles in tomorrow.

Besides myself, there will be my hubby and my two younger kids; teen’s friend had to bow out at the last minute.

In addition to a cheese assortment, I will bring the ingredients to make Crock Pot brownies, will mix them up when we arrive, and in 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours, we will have rich, warm, chocolatey loveliness!

We’re leaving here around 9AM, quick side-stop in Hagerstown, then on to Gettysburg. We figure to arrive by 1PM. So I should be there with the cheese by the time everyone wants lunch.
