I’m looking forward to meeting this chicken with a drinking problem.
Monday I shall go meet the nice gray haired park lady and make sure that we have a pavilion for the 15th, and will follow with a confirming post.
Please indicate in your posts what you’re bringing, and how many are in your party. A running list will be displayed near the top of each page as the thread progresses.
A directions post will be forthcoming on the weekend before, as well as mappy links.
Anyone wishing to stay overnight before and/or after is urged to make reservations ASAP. Oodles of touristas come to Gettysburg, and I think that by 15 Sept Gettysburg College will be back to business and most of the parent units will have fled, but there’s no guarantee regarding room availability. This isn’t a town where you can cruise in and expect to find a bed.
Have questions? Ask. I’ll have to check the rules regarding critters.
Yay, kimche.
Rather than mess with success, jalapeño chili and chipotle with adobo chili will be brought.
Why not just bring the same kimche no one ate the previous years?
As for the goat, we don’t know if it’s okay to bring critters yet. We’ll see what dwc finds out about the dogs, and assume it will also apply to goats.
I’m pretty sure dogs are okay – didn’t Rock and Roach bring hers two years ago?
What I’ll bring – seems like last year we had plenty of food, but ran low on water and soda, so I’ll bring … water and soda. And a cooler with ice to keep it in.
This is the perfect venue to do some bubble freezing – and Dopers are the pefect geeks to get into it. dwc – would you have any ideas about where to get dry ice?
Ooooh! Ooooh! I think I’m in. I already have it pencilled in on my calendar, so at this point I plan to be there.
So: what do you want me to bring? I keep threatening to bring pierogie casserole, but I don’t know whether it will keep warm all the way from my house to Gettysburg. I can try, though.
Also, it will probably just be me – hubby is a lurker and his people skills need work. So if anyone is from anywhere around me and you’re interested in carpooling, let me know.
If we have a pavilion, does that mean we could bring something in, say, a crockpot that is hot food? Because Papa Tigs makes some wonderful dishes that are best served hot.
And thanks for checking on the dogs. If there are kids there, even better – they both love kids. (A yellow lab and a golden retriever.)
We may attend. We = the kids and I and perhaps Dave if he doesn’t have to work. It may also depend upon attendance of animals in the actual pavillion, due to my allergies and not having anything that actually works against them, that will allow me to drive.
