Yes, please bring bacon salt!
I’ll be there with my usual assortment of burgers and dogs.
Mrs Geek and the 3 Geeklings will be there as well.
Not if you take that route. 30 is SLOW and twisty and when it’s not twisty you are slowing down to go through every little town 3 house town along the way.
Your best bet (IMHO) is to take 76 to 70 (towards Baltimore) then cut up 15 N at Fredrick to get to Gettysburg.
ETA: 3 1/2 hours is probably about right as long as you don’t follow mapquest’s crappy directions.
LOL. Somehow I knew that I would be bringing it along.
I ordered the bacon salt last week. It should be here before then. I plan on trying it in a few dishes. Hopefully I will find a tasty picnic appropriate dish for then, and bring along extra for others to taste and enjoy!
Wow! the freezing bubbles idea sounds like a lot of fun!
I’m so there, as long as it’s on the 15th. I put in for that day off at work several months ago. I call dibs on the lazy-person’s contribution of paper plates, plasticware, napkins, etc. I so don’t cook. I will also bring my guitar, and a massive pile of books for the book exchange, since a co-worker dumped a bunch of romance novels on me and I am through reading them (most of them are, frankly, not that great. But free!).
Bad news, kids. I called the park office this morning, and the 15th is booked. So is the weekend of the 8th, and the weekend prior is Labor Day. August 25th is the Saturday before that, and pavilions are available.
What would y’all like to do?
The reason for moving to September was that people wanted cooler weather – August 25th is definitely still summer.
What about Sept. 22nd? I realize that’s Yom Kippur – how many people would be unable to attend then? Is that number greater or smaller than the number who don’t want to do August 25th?
Scuba Ben and I observe the Jewish holidays, so Yom Kippur is out for us.
I’d be out if it’s Yom Kippur, too. What about something in October? I know it’d be cooler, but it’s not bad and there’d be some nice fall foliage.

I checked the dates - The 22nd is during the sheepdog trials finals. I’d be in the area, but distracted.
October is good.
October is good for me, too. Better pierogie casserole weather, anyway.
October would be good for us. It’s spaced out enough from Labor Day that there shouldn’t be any scheduling friction here.
October is a maybe for me, it depends heavily on scheduling beyond my control.
Sept 22nd will definitively not work for me (nor will the 29th, although it wasn’t mentioned). I could do August 25th. As for weekends in October I’m free on the 6th and the 20th, theoretically.
Those other September dates are out for me. As for October, I’m good for any Saturday except the 20th.
I am available for the August 25th date.
I am out of it for the entire month of September.
October? Meh. Who plans that far ahead? Probably hard, but not out of the question.

October would be better for me. We will be out of town (in a different direction) the last weekend of August.
I think an October Gettysdope would be lovely and seems to be getting positive responses here. Put me on the bandwagon for any weekend in October.
Woohoo!
Early October sounds like a wonderful time for a Gettydope!
I don’t care, and the further in the future it is, the more time I have to plan for it, which doesn’t mean that I’ll begin preparing before the last possible moment, but I could.
October, then, would be lovely.
An October date would work very well for Debbie and me. It is a beautiful time of the year in this area!
