My job is work from home. I like the callers to think I’m working in a call center, not from home. A ringing doorbell kind of shatters that illusion.
The classic is: I’d like to thank my parents, God and Ayn Rand.

Add me to the roster. It just makes sense!
Minor mini-rant on food containers: I find I get better results microwaving things in round containers, but round containers are hard to find. I do NOT want rectangles!

That makes sense, especially if you cook on a carousel. It should cook more evenly in a round container.

Exactly (and do they even sell microwaves without a turntable any more?). It’s a little hard to cook for a two-person family (well, two humans. We’re outnumbered by pets) without there being leftovers, so I do need to factor in reheating when I’m selecting containers.

We have a few at my office. They are really old-school, where you twist a dial for the time rather than pushing buttons.
And these are neither old nor cheap. Here is one that’s very similar (but I doubt they’re the same model):

OK, educational. I had it stuck in my head that that style of microwave was from quite some time ago and probably not currently being made/sold.

However, I have not used them yet. If the glass explodes in the oven, blame @Whack-a-Mole, not me!
I can vouch for the Brilliance containers. I have several of the glass-bottomed ones and several of the plastic-bottomed ones. Obviously you can’t put the plastic ones in the oven, but the glass ones are fine (just remember that putting any hot glass item in contact with a cold or wet surface or substance is asking for trouble. Don’t do that). I’ve frozen, refrigerated and microwaved with all of them and they all work as advertised, and the plastic doesn’t get stained when you store tomato-based stuff in them.

Once when I was young and stupid, I cooked with oven-safe glassware (in an actual oven), and soon after removing it from the oven and taking out the food I rinsed it in the sink with cold water. It shattered in my hands like I’d struck it with a hammer. I was quite an idiot. (Luckily I wasn’t hurt.)

I’ve never noticed that, and I’ve been microwaving in rectangular casserole dishes for years.
There’s a reason (actually, many reasons) that casserole dishes, baking dishes, and most frozen foods, are rectangular in shape. One reason: unless it’s something that’s going to be spooned out, imagine trying to use a spatula in a round container. Another reason: many foods just fit better in a rectangular container – think lasagna noodles, for instance, or baking sausages. A third reason: rectangles fit better in the fridge; round containers waste space. I’m sure there are others.
On the subject of glassware exploding in the oven, here’s an interesting article about how, in North America, Pyrex stopped using borosilicate glass for consumer products years ago, and now uses tempered ordinary soda-lime glass. I have read elsewhere that they claim the tempered glass is more impact-resistant than borosilicate, which is true, but it doesn’t have the same level of resistance to thermal shock. Bottom line: modern glass cookware is more likely to shatter in the oven than the old genuine Pyrex stuff, so you do have to be more careful. I have several baking dishes made of the newer stuff, and am always a bit fearful when making lasagna or my famous baked sausages, but have never had a problem. I have not seen any complaints anywhere about the Rubbermaid Brilliance glassware.
Last night I woke to some weird sound. It sounded like a woman’s voice yammering, and I assumed it was a drunk hanging out in her front yard. But it went on and on, repeating every other minute or so.
I finally figured out what it was. A nearby neighbor has those Halloween blow-up figures in their yard, and one of them must be a witch that has a “scary” speech and cackle. It went on all night long.
So today I have to hunt down which yard it is and ask them to turn it off for the night. How fun.
You would think it must bother them too!
We’re hearing quite a few gunshots in our area at various times of the day, seeing that it’s the season for wabbit, deer, possum, wildebeest etc. in this part of Kentucky.
I wonder why, yesterday morning I heard a shot, followed by seven more shots in rapid succession, as fast as they could empty the clip. A rabid raccoon? Someone practicing rapid-fire target shooting? Spousal argument?
I need to watch local news to get up to date on these things.

In our area people are readying for deer season; sighting guns in, doing target practice, etc.
I guess the latest in moronic “challenges” is to eat one tortilla chip that has been dusted with both Carolina reaper and scorpion pepper dust. This happened in a middle school in Edina, MN and resulted in an ambulance responding to the school and with children treated for burning eyes and respiratory issues. I have no words for this sort of stupidity.

I wonder if those two things are related.
It’s like people with dogs that bark all night. The owners just don’t even hear it after a while.
Just so y’all know, I’m the guy out running the leaf blower/sucker today*. Last weekend I was out doing some yardwork and there were just a few leaves on the ground here and there. This weekend the yard is covered with them. About half are from our maple tree, the rest from our neighbor’s maple tree. I’ll probably be doing this every weekend for the next couple of months. Sorry about the noise.
* Does it make it any better if it’s electric not gas powered?
