That explains my confusion; I was only thinking of characters from this show.
No, constantly saying “Patience, Patience” reminded me of constantly saying “Station, Station”.
Well that was a little underwhelming, or at least the Patience character is. She’s supposed to be a severe, vengeful Puritan but she looks and sounds like the Disney version, except when she barks “Patience! Patience”. What even is that? There’s so much potential there and it seems like no thought was put into creating her character.
I’ve thought about this too. My conclusion is that the phone would still work, but it would be never be able to get any signal or wifi.
would likely be blocked by the ghost boundry.
At the end of last season I thought we would finally get a scary ghost. Wrong again.
Right? Or if not outright scary, at least some kind of contrast to the rest of the lighthearted ghosts. Perhaps they didn’t want to outright copy the UK version - though in this case they really should have - but I’m baffled at the choice of a sweet voiced, average looking character. If she died from bloodletting, make her ghastly pale, maybe a leech still stuck to her. Give her some ugly teeth and make her look actually miserable and mean.
I’m reminded of Jemimah, the little girl Plague Ghost on the British version who’s so scary she scares the shit out of the other ghosts.
I’m ok with Jay being able to see the ghosts, as long as it’s temporary. Maybe a 3 or 4 episode arc. Something happens and he’s suddenly able to interact with the ghosts. Later that same thing happens and no longer can. Or maybe, he and Samantha switch places for a little while.
Or maybe if he got possessed by a ghost “he” could interact with them while possessed. Maybe Pete’s wife’s power? PATIENCE? One of the Brits?
I think the rule is that when a human is possessed they can see and hear but can’t communicate as themselves, i.e. the possessing ghost dominates. That’s what happened when Hetty possessed Jay, anyway (one of my favorite eps).
It will be sweet when Jay and Pete get to meet, and hopefully funny when Jay meets Trevor.
After tonight’s episode, it’s clear they put some thought into creating her ghost power.
The Amazon product placement was a bit awkward.
Yeah, and the huge SUV they kept showing out front. Both annoyed me.
It’ll really complicate their B&B business, though she does seem easily fooled.
Wonder how she’d react to an gay couple who are guests, whether or not they’re married?
And honestly, both the UK and US versions have the living couple being mixed race but that hasn’t bothered any of the ghosts. Neither has Kitty (the naïve black noblewoman in the UK original).
On the plus side Patience would be completely oblivious to same-sex couples unless she actually saw them having sex (even then she might still be confused enough to play it for laughs).
Agreed. Even worse is the writers forgot that Alberta’s power let’s her talk to Alexa! They could’ve followed up Pete making fun of Alberta with an awkward Amazon delivery to Jay, like a Jason Momoa body pillow, but they went with tile?
It is really distracting when a regular, major character is missing for an entire episode. For instance, Sass in this latest one. He just happened to be in another room during the entire incident? (And they even mentioned Pete’s wife, normally you wouldn’t wonder too much about a minor character, but when she gets called out…)
To be fair Sam being able to communicate with the dead does sound like witchcraft and is the one thing that can’t be explained by science or natural law. Does anyone else think Patience is getting less scary? She’s comically easy to “corrupt” and is turning into Flower, except with religion instead of drugs.
