Ghosts US Season Five spoilers and general discussion

So here we are in mid August, with the cast back at work and info trickling in. This time last year we had some juicy spoilers; this time, not so much. I’ll reveal what I’ve been able to glean so far (which admittedly isn’t much); betwixt now and when the season begins (near Halloween) we can speculate, express our hopes, and reveal any new info that comes our way. When the season starts, this thread will be general discussion.

I have two minor spoilers

First, Patience will have a larger role and may play a part in the resolution of the Elias/Jay situation. I think we all expected the Jay situation to dominate at least the first few episodes of S5.

Second, I read that they’re going to “expand” Flower’s Ghost Power. I don’t really know what that means; the only other power for her that I can think of is maybe making the Living horny, but that’s Elias’ power. The article I read speculates that the writers may use this as a jumping off point for expanding other Ghost Powers.

My expectations and hopes

We still don’t know how Sessapis died. That may or may not be revealed in S5. I hope so.

I also continue to hope that’s Jay & Sam baby will be happening in the next couple of seasons. That will throw the Ghosts into a frenzy. Maybe Sam will have fraternal twins and name them Henrietta and Thorfinn.

How many of the ghosts can directly communicate to someone other than Sam if they chose?
Directly:
Trevor- via telekinesis
Hetty- every March 17th maybe, have to see.
Alberta- via Alexa
Sass via dreams
Patience-via blood, maybe could form actual words if she chose
Elias- as hell’s representative.

Indirectly, via Morse code etc. if they managed to attract somebody.

Alberta- humming without Alexa
Thor

Isaac, Flower and the Cholera ghosts are probably too vague to set up communication.

When she died, she was on drugs and being mauled by a bear, right? And now she can make folks experience what it’s like to be on drugs? Maybe she can make folks experience what it’s like to be mauled by a bear…

I’d prefer to get high.

During the last season, we were speculating that Patience might be involved in resolving Jay’s issue.

That seems to be the indication from the scuttlebutt, that Patience will help resolve the Jay/Elias situation.

I’m one who really did not like Patience at first. I’m not crazy about her yet, but they seem to have fleshed her out (ha!) a bit and she’s getting a little more likable. I can see a showdown between her and Elias( maybe ending in romance?).

I’m looking forward to the new season and hoping the writing goes back to the quality of the earlier ones.

I agree with this entirely. I think a showdown with Elias and/or The Devil is what she lives (so to speak) for. Once she does that – sucked off.

Oh, good one I’ve only just started to warm up to her character, but to be fair, she did live in the dirt for centuries. I think she deserves ascension.

More specifically, S5 will start on October 16th. :ghost:

Some more spoilers have come in.

Not unexpectedly, the Jay-Elias arc is going to dominate the season, at least the first few episodes, per Entertainment Weekly. Also regarding Jay, it looks like the writers are going to avoild leaning into Jay being able to see the Ghosts. “Part of the fun is him wanting to know the ghosts and actually developing relationships [with them]. That was a big breakthrough for that character — he’s almost jealous of Sam and wants to know about the ghosts. I get it, it sounds fun, but I worry a little magic of the show would be gone,” [a person affiliated with the show] said.

There is also going to be follow-up to Pete and Alberta’s kiss. And for the Halloween episode, the mummy from last season is going to be relevant again. “… That mummy is going to play a big role in this season’s Halloween episode," [someone else affiliated with the show] says.

From the same article, they’re going to do a two-part Christmas episode, like last season, and then they’re going to conclude the season with a one-hour finale. Also, Hetty’s visibility to the Livings on St. Patrick’s Day will be revisited on … I don’t know, some holiday in March, I suppose.

And it is back.

Poor Doug.

Has it always been unavailable on Paramount until the next day? I tried to tune in on Thursday and was pretty disappointed. Luckily, it is pretty well worth waiting for. Very strong first ep, imo. Almost felt more like a season finale, with all the twists. I don’t want to say much more until more folks have watched it but I think most will enjoy it.

Doug wasn’t in the S5 premiere…?

Yes, that’s been my experience: any show that airs on one of the major networks doesn’t stream until the next day.

Hmn. It seemed pretty well wrapped up in Episode 1…

So it seems. I wonder if there’s going to be more to it, though. The spoilers I read did say plurAl episodes.

We know man, we know - Poor Doug….

Doug’s not here, man!

Sam and Jay better pay very close attention to the fine print from now on; that trick isn’t going to work again. Patience!

I have a problem with the idea of the contract. In traditional “deal with the Devil” stories there is a meeting of the minds in the contract, the person selling their sould knows that they are selling their soul. Thinking that you are making an ordinary contract with an ordinary person for an ordinary thing but having it turn out to be a literal selling of your soul to the devil means it could happen to anyone, anywhere, any time.
